Lugano celebrates its cross-border culture at MASI (the Museum of Art of Italian Switzerland) (20 minute walk). The museum holds regular contemporary art exhibitions. The city hosts many festivals throughout the year, including the “Luganomusica” festival every summer. For a more active kind of festival, try one of the regular mountain running races which make up the Ticino Mountain Running Cup.

A leisurely day trip on the Lago Lugano is a must, as is a walk along Lugano’s famous waterfront, with breathtaking views over the lake. Then head to Piazza della Riforma, the true heart of the city, a beautiful square, lined with cafés and restaurants.

The closest international airports are in Italy - Milan Malpensa 1 hour and 5 minutes away by car, or Milan Linate, a 1 hour and 20-minute journey. Arriving by train? Lugano’s railway station is a 25-minute walk from the apartment.
