Hale Ohana, meaning “family home,” is a simple, welcoming island retreat nestled in a quiet residential neighborhood just a short 10-minute walk from the crystal-blue waters and sandy shores of Poʻipū on the sunny south shore of Kauaʻi. Spend your days enjoying the island lifestyle—surfing, snorkeling, swimming, or simply soaking up the sun with your ʻohana.
This is our personal family home, and it is our kuleana (responsibility and privilege) to care for this space and to welcome guests in a way that reflects the true meaning of aloha—kindness, respect, and genuine hospitality. Our hope is to provide an affordable, comfortable place for families to experience the beauty and culture of Kauaʻi. Hale Ohana is not a luxury resort, but a clean, fully furnished home designed for those who value simplicity, connection, and a more authentic island experience.
The home comfortably sleeps 2–6 guests and features a newly remodeled kitchen with a contemporary, open-flow design—creating a warm, inviting space to prepare meals, gather, and share time together. Whether you’re cooking fresh island fish or enjoying takeout after a beach day, we hope this space adds comfort and ease to your stay.
Open the windows and let the gentle tradewinds (makani) flow through the home, bringing in the natural cooling and sounds of the island.
New Feature (Starting May 1st): For added comfort, Hale Ohana now offers full-house air conditioning throughout the home. Alongside the refreshing island breezes, this upgrade gives you the option to cool down and relax after a full day of exploring, adventuring, or enjoying the beauty of Kauaʻi.
Located in a true local neighborhood, Hale Ohana offers an authentic island living experience. You may see free-roaming chickens and encounter the occasional tropical critter—these are a natural part of everyday life in Hawaiʻi and part of the charm of staying in a residential hale rather than a resort.
Step into the backyard and enjoy a bit of island abundance, with avocado, papaya, ʻulu (breadfruit), and mango trees—available to enjoy when in season.
Within just a short 2–5 minute drive, you can experience breathtaking sunsets, seasonal whale sightings, honu (Hawaiian green sea turtles), blowholes, and the stunning coastline of Poʻipū.
Hale Ohana is especially welcoming for families, with sand toys, boogie boards, a portable crib, and space to relax and reconnect after a day of adventure.
If you’re looking for a comfortable home base to explore the island—a place to cook, rinse off sandy feet, and gather with your ʻohana—Hale Ohana offers a meaningful and memorable way to experience the magic of Kauaʻi.
Please note: Hale Ohana is located in a Tsunami Zone. An evacuation map is available on the refrigerator and in the Welcome Binder for your reference.
