There is ample decking to enjoy the ocean breezes while soaking up the rays. The spacious great room can entertain the whole crowd, and the kids will love eating in the screened porch. The first class neighborhood of Schooner Ridge also has an indoor pool, two outdoor pools, a kiddie pool, tennis courts, racquetball and an Oceanfront gazebo. "Carolina Escape" offers relaxation and variety for your vacation getaway!

  • One of the northernmost towns along the coast in North Carolina, Duck is an idyllic town on the shores of the Currituck Sound. This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Better conditions for the house

The floors were not cleaned, my daughters scrubbed the floor and I took pictures of the dirty swifter, the screens were tore out, the bottom door wouldn't stay shut unless you locked it.. the dryer wasn't working properly had to do two 70 minute cycles for clothes to dry I did call the property manager who said she would let housekeeping know about the dirty floors and hand railings. the kitchen cupboards were peeling in some places and there was mold around the fan in the master bedroom on the first floor off the kitchen . We had a good time because we were with family and enjoyed all the grandkids!

A Great Escape

First I would like to say that we had excellent response to our calls for problems. When we checked in, the 3rd floor air conditioner was not working. We thought it would take awhile to cool so we waited but temp climbed to 85. That rendered the entire living area and a master unusable. We doubled up on beds on lower floor that night . Someone was there early to check and decided unit needed Freon. All was working well when we returned from the beach and that afternoon. Wednesday evening it rained hard . There was 1 1/2 inches of water in the ground floor which was another master . The water receded as soon as the rain stopped but again had to double up on beds as no one could sleep on ground floor . Maintenance was there early in morning and brought a dehumidifier. They returned late afternoon to sanitize floor. No one was able to sleep in that room rest of the week as it felt damp and had odor of disinfectant. The pool and hot tub were great! Loved all of the kitchen and dining seating. Not to be picky but feel these merit mentioning: Crisper drawer in fridge broken . We put in in master closet. Several of the bathroom and kitchen cabinet doors would not stay shut . Ceiling fans were filthy. Toilet seats were not in good shape and stained.
