Adorable beach cottage on Hamlin Creek; Pet friendly with no fee!

This comfortably renovated cottage, located just 1000 feet from the beach, has retained its original island charm. Fishing, swimming, kayaking, boating, bird and dolphin watching are available out the back door facing the Intracoastal Waterway, while the beach is a short walk away. Nothing beats sitting in the rope swings, relaxing with a good book, while watching the seabirds and dolphins play after a fun day on the beach.

The spacious lot and large canopy of live oaks on the bank of Hamlin Creek make you think you're back in the antebellum South. The updated cottage has retained an "island essence" and offers the perfect spot for enjoying nature and experiencing island life. Owner maintained and a unique experience for your vacation! Deep water dock comes with 30 amp electrical service and water hookups 5' at low tide, (Boat lift on site is only for owner use)

Pet Friendly with 12 x 25 fenced dog run, No fee required! Nice gas grill (propane tanks may be exchanged at Island Realty office during normal business hours). Beach Shower. WiFi and linens are included.

Rentals are stocked with small ‘starter packs’ that include: toilet paper, trash bags, paper towels, soap, dishwashing soap, and dishwasher detergent.

Hamlin Creek Cottage

Beautiful little gem of a cottage! Lovely yard leading to great dock on the creek. Saw plenty of bird life and baby dolphins swimming beside their mothers. The beds were very comfortable. Gorgeous heart pine floors. Love the history about this house.

The dock is great place to fish,sun,or just hang out.This was my dog Bo's first time to beach/ocean. The 10 minute walk to be a h was good for him,and he's 12 years old. Thank you to the owners for providing so much to do. The carts were a big help taking everything for a day at the beach

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We loved staying in this charming 1940's cottage with creek and sunset views! It’s 2 blocks from the beach and close enough to walk into town for restaurants, drinks or ice cream. It was refreshing to find a charming smaller home with modern features and plenty of space for a single person, a few friends, or a couple with kids. I’ve never stayed in a pet friendly rental this nice. I will bring my dog next time. When I walked in, it smelled SO clean! The kitchen and floors are new. The countertops are beautiful. (Pictures need to be updated.) The high ceilings and old hardwood floors in the bedrooms and hall add to its charm. It has a dining table for 6 and a screen porch for dining with a ceiling fan. The owners have thought of everything. We like to cook at the beach and appreciated that they left several kitchen cabinets empty for food storage. The tv/internet, extra-large washer/dryer and air conditioning all work great! The beds were comfortable as well. The dock has a picnic table for dining, morning coffee and sunset cocktails. Next trip we will bring our kayaks and fishing poles. There is also a huge driveway for parking. (Please be aware if you park on a side street near the beach, your car must be parallel to the road. There are no signs indicating which direction to park, but it’s apparently a state law. I was one of 5 cars that unknowingly parked the wrong way and got a $100 ticket.) We met the owner’s son and he gave us some history about the cottage, as did Cooper from Island Realty. His grandfather worked on a barge that dredged the Intracoastal waterway and creeks from Wilmington, NC to Isle of Palms. The cottage was the barracks on the barge where the workers slept. His grandfather bought the barracks and moved it to it's current location in the 30's or 40's. The kitchen and master bedroom side of the house was the original barracks and then they added on. Thanks, Cooper for a smooth process and great information

I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Found the house and furnishing adequate. The windows facing the creek are indire need of curtains or shades. Beds were hard to get in and out of for old folks. House is difficult to find should have some kind of markings.
