"Great place to spend a night or two to explore around Tain. Tiny town, so everything is walkable (Glenmorangie distillery too, albeit along a somewhat busy A road at least for now - there is a private car hire). Breakfast is Continental, but good, with fresh berries and hot croissants among other options."

"The property is lovely this includes the grounds and the cottages. The service was not great. We had to call to inquire about breakfast no one let us know how this worked. We arrived to wait for about 15 minutes with the only two other guests at the hotel to have a sixteen year old boy wait on us. He didn’t know how to make coffee said he doesn’t drink it. Apparently he was left to his own devices at the house, we went into the kitchen twice looking for him to bring additional items. We were...

"Lovely spot to stay, well-equipped and cosy even in the freezing early January weather, and bonus we saw the northern lights. Ideal for the NC500 just a mile or two off the road."

"Position was good, Room Ok for one night but very small. We had dinner which I enjoyed but my husband was not very impressed with his. He had fish which he had to take quite some time to get a mouthful with no bones."

"My stay was comfortable and friendly. The food was of a good standard. The room was clean and functional but a little dated in style. The Wifi was adequate most of the time, however it was not available everywhere in the room, only worked in one particular spot. Housekeeping was available every day. The staff was small but friendly and accommodating. All in all a good stay."

"We spent a lovely evening at The Sutherland Inn. Staff were incredibly friendly, food was excellent, beds comfortable. Water pressure was variable and we had to run the shower for some time before any hot water came through. Would definitely recommend a stop off here. "
