Nestled among the mountains and trees is “Grin and Bear It”, a lovely chalet overlooking Gatlinburg. With a completely secluded deck with hot tub and gorgeous views overlooking Ober Mountain, most every window has a view to enjoy.

The chalet is in a resort community and maintains that highly sought after "tucked away" and private feel.
It is conveniently only 10 minutes from downtown Gatlinburg.

*Note, if booking January and February, we require you bring snow chains (just in case). Although it doesn't snow every day, it does snow during these months and you will need these to get up the mountain roads if it is snowy.

As you enter the chalet, the bright and airy decor and the views from the windows welcome you to your Smoky Mountain retreat.

Waking up to the mountains every morning will never disappoint. The view from any room in the house is great, especially from the Master bedroom’s King bed upstairs. With vaulted ceilings soaring above you, the mountains around you, it is a delightful world of your own.

When you return from your day of excursions our chalet is a wonderful oasis for you to enjoy and socialize. Envision coming home to the chalet after experiencing the beauty and splendor of the Great Smoky Mountains. The glow of the fireplace casts a dreamlike ambiance. Surrounded by your friends and loved ones, you sip hot chocolate or your favorite refreshment while you reminisce, laugh, and reconnect. This is where memories are made.

We want our chalet to be a place for you to relax, rejuvenate, and renew your spirit. This is your vacation. With you in mind we designed “Grin and Bear It” as an affordable and comfortable retreat. We’ve included modern amenities so that your experience will be carefree and enjoyable.

You'll feel like you are a part of the mountains staying here, yet with all the comforts of home. You might even see a few bears. Soak up the delicious views from the hot tub, the many windows inside or the two decks outside. Weekend getaway

This place is amazing. If you don’t mind driving up the mountain and some steep hills then this is a perfect getaway for you and your spouse or family. It was about a 10 minute drive to Gatlinburg and you are literally right beside Ober mountain it’s only about a 4-5 minute drive. We did see a few bears right near our cabin but that is expected this time of year in this area so you have to make sure you leave your car doors locked and no trash or food in it or outside unless you put it in the bear proof garbage bin but our host had great Instructions in the cabin on what to do and how to prepare for any bear encounters. Overall this was a great place to get away for me and my wife. I would definitely recommend this cabin and would definitely stay at this location again

Great place. Very comfy and clean.

Great get-away, everything was clean and functioned as it should. Had a nice bear come down the hill and visit while i was having my coffee, i slowly walked back toward porch and observed from front door. Road to chalet can be a little intimidating to someone not familiar with the mountains, drive slow and its just fine. Host made it very clear about the driveway which is steep yet very manageable with a moderate sized vehicle. 5 stars for sure!

Overall good

Property was clean and provided everything needed for a comfortable stay. Only downside was the hot tub cover was difficult to put back on due limited space and it being strapped down entirely on one side Pool table not really usable due to space around it.

Beautiful view, but difficult drive. Owner warnned about driving direction but even with printed directions and GPS missed turns more than once. If you can manage the mountain Drive it is a beautiful location

Not the best

Cabin was infested with Lady Bugs. Hot tub wouldn't get hotter than 99 degrees. Couldn't play pool because the walls were in the way. Was excited about the jacuzzi tub but it would have taken a day to fill it.

Perfect!

Perfect setup at the top of the mountain. The house was clean and the hot tub was so relaxing. Everything from the views, location, and amenities were outstanding. Would definitely return to this.

Private location

We enjoyed our stay in this private location. The hot tub was the best part. There were a lot of windows for natural light. The cabin was clean. The driveway was steep but we managed in a RAV4 without issues. The music from Ober Gatlinburg played loudly all day but after 7:00 we were able to enjoy the quietness outside. Not much of a mountain view but you can see the Gatlinburg Summit condos and Ober Gatlinburg. The view of their lights at night was peaceful.

Exactly what we needed

I cannot say 1 thing negative about this place! Everything was absolutly perfect! Its quiet, secluded, has gorgeous views, and the chalet itself is beautiful!! It was well worth travelling the curvy roads to get there. Side note...always lock your car doors because those Gatlinburg bears are smart and they do know how to open car doors!!! at

Great stay! Wonderful secluded location!

We had a wonderful stay for our 25th wedding anniversary. The house was clean and just as described. The driveway was steep, as were the roads, but that’s expected when staying in the mountains. No 4 wheel drive needed and we actually wished we had brought my small car and not my husband’s truck because the roads were a bit narrow. We followed the hosts directions and placed the provided bear deterrent around our vehicle, locked our trash can and did not leave food in our vehicle. We did had a mama bear and two cubs visit with us one afternoon. They did not disturb our vehicle and we enjoyed seeing them from a safe distance. We would definitely stay again!

The drive up the mountain was fine until you came across other drivers who didn't want to share the one lane road. They did explain that the driveway was steep just not a 21° incline that you ABSOLUTELY NEED 4x4 to get up. They did say that is was possible to see bears with being in the mountain HOWEVER.... not that less than 20yards from the outside grill theres a bears den on the property with a momma bear and cubs. When we got there we did a 5-10min walk through just to make sure everything was ok only to come out to our jeep being rummaged by two bears. Thank goodness we didn't go to the store yet and they only got a bag of chip. We were only at the cabin a total of 1hr on a 4day trip an my wife was so freaked out from the whole experience that she didn't want to stay so we contacted the property owners an explained what happened ( they have full video of the whole thing ) I asked if we could get a partial refund since we wouldn't be staying in the cabin at all because of what happened and they basically told me to pound sand. Its just sad that i paid so much to stay here only for my jeep to be detroyed by a bear and to never even stay in the cabin. I understand not getting a full refund but I feel they should be responsible for a partial refund for not diclosing the BEAR DEN on property

Beautiful getaway

The drive wasn't horrible some, we are from wv do mountain drivingis something we are use to. The house was clean and well kept. We did see 2 bears a momma and her cub, they were a little two friendly, they opened the back door while i was sitting in the car looked in saw us then closed the door. Definitely something we will never forget. The only down side was the pool tabel was a little to close to the wall but other than that it was perfect.

Beautiful, Remote Cabin in the Mountains

We enjoyed our stay! The drive up to the cabin was an adventure, but the hosts gave us great tips to find the cabin. We saw a family of bears on our drive to the cabin which was a highlight of the trip. The location is great for hiking and sightseeing in the park and visiting Gatlinburg for dinner and drinks. The cabin had everything we needed and very comfortable for 2 couples. Very quiet area. We enjoyed the upper deck and hot tub. Our only comment was the bed was very squeaky and probably just needs to tighten up some screws. We will be back. Hosts were great and very responsive to our questions!
