Hillside Crescent
Traveling w a big family is hard. But Hillside Crescent made our trip easy. We rent a lot of homes and I highly recommend this place. It’s location and size are incredible. We loved the short walk over the park to the city center. And everything about it.

Top Hat House Stay
We absolutely loved our stay at Top Hat House. We came to Edinburgh to visit our daughter who is getting her masters at the University of Edinburgh and decided to have a large family/friends holiday at the same time. The house was well equipped and easily accommodated 8 adults comfortably. The location was convenient and an easy walk to most tourist sites. There is no shortage of good restaurants nearby and the kitchen was well enough equipped for a large roast dinner we cooked one evening. Could use a few more paper products like paper towels and napkins but that really is nitpicking. Highly recommend!

50th Birthday Celebration
The Top Hat House is in an amazing Georgian tenement building in a lovely part of Edinburgh not too far from Princes Street. The accommodation is spacious, modern and stylish; which meant we could do Edinburgh in style. Perfect to see all the wonderful things that the City of Edinburgh has to offer. Would strongly recommend it!

We wanted our family to all be together to celebrate our sons wedding in Scotland. The Top Hat House worked at perfect. Easy walk to center of town the Tram and numerous restaurants. Great place to stay instead of a hotel Room.

Exceeded our expectations!
The Top Hat was beautiful! The pictures did not do it justice! We had a group of 10 and the space was perfect! The location was ideal, we had everything we needed. Communication with the host could have been better however Jane indicated some difficulties with the vrbo app. I would highly recommend this property.

Our family stayed here for our daughters wedding . It was a lovely and spacious home to celebrate the special event. The owner , Jane, was very helpful when we contacted with a couple of queries. Would recommend it for a peaceful and elegant stay in the centre of the city.

Excellent stay
This is a great property: lots of space, great kitchen and a very good location under Carlton Hill. We were also impressed that when we raised a maintenance issue with the owner it was dealt with that day. A small quibble: the Nespresso machine had been replaced with a Lavazo that takes a different and hard to find type of capsule.

Beautiful townhouse
Beautiful townhouse. There was enough room for all of us (10 people). Wish we could have stayed longer. It was a little challenging to find it initially. We will be back.

Beautiful place in Edinburgh that easily accommodated our large group. So nice to have individual suites with attached bathrooms too! Very nice modern accommodations, but there are some repairs and TLC needed from a maintenance perspective - broken blinds in a few rooms, plugged shower drain in one bathroom, also some essentials need to be restocked - ran out of trash bags, the nspresso pods provided don’t fit the non nspresso machine, no basic spices (salt, pepper), we didn’t get a welcome gift in the refrigerator as promised… some little things like that that could be better from an experience perspective. Also communication with host fell off completely during our stay, previous to that was good, so not sure what happened there. Otherwise, it was a wonderful place! Would stay again

Perfect place for our family
We were traveling with extended family and for all nine of us this was a terrific place to stay. The house was roomy and well appointed. The location was excellent, within easy walking distance of major attractions.

Beautiful House
Beautiful house and well stocked. It worked great for our family of 5 couples with 2 exceptions. The owner would not accommodate us storing our luggage at the house at 2:00 on our arrival day. She told us to store it at the train station…which cost us 180 pounds! When we did get let into the house we found tape across one of the showers and it was unusable because they had it regrouted… We were told not to use it. One of the couples had to use a shower in another couples’s bedroom. There was not compensation offered. ( did get a small discount after I asked ) I am still not sure why they wouldn’t let us drop our luggage…the house is huge and it would not have been in the way… they clearly had workers in the house and it would not have affected another guest. we could have stored our luggage there for 2 hours. Bottom line … owner not accommodating but expects guest to accommodate their needs of repairs etc…

Gorgeous Home in center Edinburgh
Quite frankly the 5 bedroom, 5 full bath property was even more gorgeous in person. Huge ceilings, great decor! Well situated for walking around. We were 9 adults and all were happy with this pick of a property. We cooked once, well equipped kitchen. My only opportunity comment, I paid for early check in and that wasn't an issue, first guest arrived at noon, I noticed stair carpet wasn't vacuumed and bad of dirty linen was in front door foyer, was picked up within the hour, that's probably nit picking but I did pay for it.

Och aye!!
Quite the Top Hat. From a 13 year old to an 81 year old the house fitted us all. The living spaces were more than adequate but the bedrooms had little or no space to hang clothes. Especially the downstairs bedroom!! A small problem but needs to be addressed. We would stay there again should we return to Edinburgh

Maison très belle et très bien équipée pour une grande famille.
La maison était très grande et identique à la description et aux photos. Maison très bien équipée et très bien placée. Un sapin de noel était aussi installé. En revanche, des difficultés à chauffer la maison (encadrement de fenêtres cassées et chauffage difficilement réglable de la maison). Message envoyé au gérant pour plus de chauffage mais aucune réponse reçue. Nous avons eu froid par moment. Attention à cela car ça peut vite rendre le voyage désagréable pour des enfants ou des personnes plus âgées.

Dear Romain. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay. I would say we never received any correspondence re the heating. As mentioned in your welcome information this is all controlled remotely and can be quickly altered to suit. In addition there is a booster button in the property which is also highlighted in the information. As you can imagine different guests groups like different temperatures which is why we can alter this very quickly remotely. We are at the the end of the phone for such things like this to help guests to ensure a comfortable stay. Kind regards

An absolutely gorgeous and commodious home that has everything you might need - all while in a perfect location! Weeks after our trip ended, my family still talks about how wonderful our experience was here as we spent some of our favorite nights in the house drinking wine around the fire after long days exploring all the fun and beautiful things nearby.

50th Birthday in Edinburgh
A group of 10 adults from Canada travelled to Edinburgh to celebrate a 50th birthday. We could not be happier with our choice to stay at Top Hat. It's rare that you can find 5 rooms with ensuite that are equally as nice. The home is beautifully appointed, with incredibly high ceiling, and we immediately felt at home. The location is a short 10-15min walk to the heart of Edinburgh. If you are a large group looking to stay together and stay in the heart of the city this place is for you. We would absolutely stay again and look forward to coming back and enjoying beautiful Edinburgh.

Stunning Property
We booked this property for the weekend of our wedding in Edinburgh. It was absolutely beautiful and the quality and style were absolutely out of this world. We were a be family of 9 and we were all delighted with our stay from the youngest to the oldest. On the Saturday morning we had make up artists, hairdressers, videographers and photographers in the apartment getting us ready for the wedding and they were are amazed at how beautiful this property was. We would not hesitate to recommend and we definitely want to come back again in the future. Thank you for making our stay in Edinburgh and our wedding so memorable, we had the most amazing experience.

Top Hat Edinburgh
Top Hat is a beautiful, well cared for property in a perfect location. Our three generation UK trip was much anticipated by all since it had been postponed for 2 years due to Covid. We were thrilled with property except for one major issue. We were awakened between 7-8am daily with outdoor repairs during our entire stay even though we were told we wouldn’t be disturbed by it. Email to the management company was unanswered. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. Otherwise I would have given this property a five star review.

Amazing place, plenty of room and nicely located near the city-centre. We had a family get together with 4 adults and 4 kids between 4 and 8. The property was lovely, everyone had en suites and we had everything we needed. Would definitely stay again.

Very impressive property from the moment you step up to the door. Fabulous. Loved the welcome pack. Great space, all bedrooms en-suite. Easily accommodated our party of 8 (4 couples). Easy walking distance to tram, which was a breeze from the airport, but far enough from the centre in a quieter street.

Perfect location- beautiful home
We spent 3 nights at this property and were very comfortable. It’s as beautifully decorated as the photographs suggest. Each bedroom is roomy and the bathrooms are modern and well fitted out. We didn’t quite have everything we would have liked in the kitchen - I found it a little strange that there was no microwave- and unfortunately the boiling water tap couldn’t be used due to a leak, but none of that caused us a big problem. It did mean I had to communicate with the host and opted to do so by text and email which I think was a mistake as it caused some delays in her responding. I spoke to her about it after our rental, and she has taken on board some of the matters I raised, so hopefully future guests won’t have the same concerns. If anything was to crop up, I’d urge making contact by phone. I think if I’d done that, some minor irritations would have been resolved. But back to the positives of which there were many. The property is very well located and we easily got around on foot to the main sites. There are nice pubs and food places nearby and we had a choice of shops/ supermarkets for food shopping. The house has a very comfortable vibe and we enjoyed relaxing in the lounge of an evening watching the world go by after a busy day sightseeing. I am happy to recommend this property.

Luxury Accommodation
Seven of us spent 4 nights in Top Hat House. We all traveled from different directions to celebrate my husbands 70th. The weather was awful and we felt the full force of storm Dennis. The house was the perfect place to hide from the lashing rain. Everything was perfect - one evening and we fitted 10 adults and 2 children round the beautiful kitchen table - plenty crockery and cutlery for all. Cannot recommend this house enough. Would love to stay again.

This was a beautiful home with everything you'll need for a comfortable holiday: well-equipped kitchen, up-to-date bathrooms, wonderful sitting room, great linens, comfortable beds, state-of-the-art lighting, etc. It's walking distance to most attractions and close to bus lines. We will stay here again, without a doubt.

A group of us stayed in Top Hat House for three nights whilst completing an overnight charity cycle. We wanted somewhere we could completely relax before and after the event. The house is very comfortable, stylish and central. Everything had been thought of, it was literally home from home and big enough for our party to spread out, enjoying each others company but also having our own space. My only personal disappointment was that the shower pressure in the front bedroom (blue room) was completely inadequate and after 100km ride not ideal. There seems to be a flat above too which at times was noisy as presumably they have wooden floors but not enough to spoil a truly memorable weekend largely thanks to our beautiful accommodation.

Thank you for your review, and pleased that over all you had a good stay. We are sorry you felt the shower in the front bedroom was not to your requirements. this is an electric shower and of the highest grade that can be bought. the reason for having this in the property is to ensure that if at any time we had an issue with the boiler we can ensure that there is still a working shower for everyone. This is a domestic property with 5 ensuite bedrooms of which all have a mains fed showers. With being a residential area and renting a private home we do have neighbours and therefore, as we ask our guests to respect the neighbours in turn we expect them to respect us. we do hope to welcome you back at sometime in the future and hope you were successful in your cycle ride. Top Hat House is Tops!!
My group of 10 adults came to Edinburgh to celebrate my 50th birthday party. This house is exactly as billed. It is modern, clean, stylish, and the bedrooms are delightful. Every couple having their own bathroom was key. We also appreciated the washer and dryer and the well appointed kitchen. We cooked in one night and the kitchen was extremely functional. The location was excellent and we were able to walk to most of the sites. We dined across the street at the Gardener's Cottage our first night and my group that it was one of the best meals they had. Jane was delightful to work with. We truly could not have asked for more. The noise from London Road in the front bedrooms can be a bit noisy but it was not a big problem at all. I would definitely recommend this beautiful house while on a visit with a large group to Edinburgh. Thank you so much Jane.

Absolutely beautiful, spacious and fantastic location
I booked TopHat House for a long weekend with 8 of my friends. The house is breathtaking - it is designed so elegantly on a grand scale. It had everything we needed and more. The kitchen was stocked with larder items and a nice little food package was left for us on our first night. We spent most of our time in the kitchen. The bedrooms were really spacious and to get an en-suite with every bedroom is unheard of usually. The location is just brilliant - we were about a 30 minute walk to the castle and grassmarket area and the same again in the opposite direction to Arthur’s Seat. The shops are also literally round the corner. The best breakfast is served at the Italian on the corner - I think it’s called Made in Italy - its food was really good. Jane was also great too at keeping in touch and responding really quickly to messages. Even when we were there. Thank you so much for allowing to stay. We all were in awe of the house and it is by far the nicest place any of us have stayed in. Best wishes Siân

Beautiful Property; Responsive Host
We recently spent 4 nights in Edinburgh at Top Hat House and had a very good time. First, the home has recently been renovated to a very high standard. All of the finishes are beautiful, the appointments well coordinated and the furnishings excellent. The rooms are spacious and our group of 8 adults had plenty or room. For us being able to cook at home is important and the kitchen was well appointed with most everything you would need to create a great dinner. Also, the electronic key system was very helpful for our large group. Second, the host Jane, was a pleasure to deal with and very responsive. Whether it was answering our questions about local restaurants or responding to queries about the house she had an answer for us in short order. We appreciated the welcome package she put together for our arrival. We found the location to work very well for us. Although the property is not located in the heart of things such as the High Street or the Royal Mile we had no problem walking from the property to all the main attractions within 10 to 20 minutes. The benefit of being at this location is it is not overwhelmed by tourists and has much more of a neighborhood feel which we appreciated. If you are looking for a larger property with great finishes and a responsive, cheerful host it is hard to go wrong with Top Hat House.

5-star luxury
I’ve had the pleasure of staying at many wonderful properties around the world such as the Four Seasons in Bora Bora and Taj Lake Palace in Udaipur. This beautiful recently refurbished Georgian is in that league. The house easily accommodated our party of 6 (two families). The rooms are spacious, very well appointed and immaculate. The house has everything you need, including the most comprehensive set of amenities I have encountered with a rental. We also appreciated the handwritten notes sprinkled around the house which explained how to use various appliances. Every place is different so this personal touch saved us time because we didn’t have to figure out things ourselves. The interior designer did an excellent job; the house is stylish yet comfortable. My friends commented that they didn’t want to leave the house! However, that wasn’t an option as Edinburgh has so much to offer. The property is also very conveniently located; a very short taxi ride to the Old Town, Waverley Station or Leith. We actually walked to the Old Town a couple of times. I highly recommend this house and I will definitely try to stay here again if I am ever back in Edinburgh.
