Creekside Retreat Waterfront Home 20 Minutes from Downtown Durango

Our custom built 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom residence is 20 minutes (13 miles) from historic downtown Durango and 45 minutes (36 miles) from Purgatory Ski Resort. The charming chef’s kitchen, equipped with stunning granite countertops, a farm style sink, beautiful light oak cabinetry, and stainless steel appliances, is the center point of the home and opens up to the main living and dining spaces.. The 3-seat breakfast bar, partitions the adjacent sunny dining room, a perfect place for making delightful dinner or late night family board game memories.

Upstairs you will find 3 bedrooms, all featuring vaulted cathedral ceilings, and generous windows, letting light in from every exterior angle. The delightfully inviting master suite expands through half of the upper level. While the additional bedrooms, including one with an elevated loft bed, are cozy and perfect for kids or guests alike. Open the windows and relish in the river sounds, for a perfect night’s sleep. Located in the quiet and friendly Forest Groves Estates neighborhood, just down the street from the natural beauty of both Lemon and Vallecito Lakes. This property is perfectly nestled near the Florida River, including creek access beside the house.

Consistent with most Colorado mountain towns, the home does not offer air-conditioning.

This home is not pet friendly. Please do not bring your pets or emotional support animals.

Book at least a week and a 10% discount is automatically applied (Excludes Christmas/New Years).

Stay with us and we offer DISCOUNTS on both summer (white water rafting, horseback riding etc.) and winter (ski/snowboard rentals, sleigh rides, snowmobile tours etc.) activities.

Please note that, like most properties in the area, this home does not have AC, as it is uncommon for homes at this elevation. Temperatures inside the property are easily managed by using fans and opening the windows at night when temperatures drop into the 40s.

The home was just ok. The cleaner and company that does the rental service were clearly good. It’s the home that isn’t well taken care for. From the broken screen door, the peeling plumbing fixtures, to the lack of cups and disorganized kitchen that lacked thought, I think they could really put some thought into the quality of the guests stay. The living room is quite small, but the one (stained) sofa isn’t enough seating. Could use a couple small chairs. The main issue I had was the lack of care to the outside of the home. The lack of secure steps from the back porch and the weed “landscaping” was sort of the entire vibe of this home. When paying for a vacation rental these are the types of things that owners should think about. Another note is that the fishing island trail is truly off the front of the home, not the back like the listing said so that took us a while to figure out. The back porch has dirty weathered chairs with direct views of the neighbors porch. So you won’t feel privacy if they’re home.

The house is beautiful, set in tall pines and mountains and rapid flowing Florida river sound is always in the background. Was clean and was well furnished. So many things to do in the area. We had a wonderful time and would love to return.

Location was great! There were so many things for the kids to do outside around the property. It was a quick drive to Durango or Silverton. We had a great trip and would book a stay here again without hesitation!

lovely house and location

I had 8 friends visiting Durango. This house was perfect for us. They were happy to share rooms. The property is off the beaten path in a beautiful wooded spot near the river. Lakes and hikes nearby. The town of Durango is 20-25 minutes away so they had access to town and a retreat to come home to at night. Kitchen fully stocked, beds comfortable. property managers were responsive and helpful. Thank you

Family trip

The house was a perfect size for our family. Its a nice location. Its close enough to Durango but far enough out for peace and quiet. Plus the river access is a few feet away for our fisherman. We had a great time.

Great Mountain Cabin by the creek

We enjoyed the tall pines and quiet neighborhood and sounds of the creek running by. Nice location close to town and everything we needed. Enjoyed horseback riding, white water rafting, hiking in this beautiful area.

Good overall

First impression upon arrival… The weeds in the yard were over a foot tall. Makes you wonder when you drive up if that’s how the entire property is taken care of. However, the cabin itself was maintained fairly well. We had seen in prior reviews that there was animal fur inside the house… We found this was true. There was gray tufts of animal hair – looks like probably a cat – scattered around the house, on the carpet in several places. Also, when you pay $6000 for a property you would expect it to be spotless… Anytime we moved something it was pretty dirty underneath; the laundry room and pantry floors were dirty. Additionally, out of eight days I probably had a hot shower only three of the days. Hot water heater is not big enough for eight people. However, overall, we enjoyed our stay and the house met our needs. The setting was nice.

Christmas in Durango

House worked well for our group - need more wine glasses- not far from town nestled in the woods - kids loved walking through the snow. Road and driveway plowed in a timely manner. Would be great in the summer when the creek would be flowing. Had a plumbing issue on last day that was promptly attended to.

Family Creek House

Great property and neighborhood with a creek in the backyard. Kids 5 & 7 loved playing in the creek, putting boats down it, and enjoying exploring it. The island is a 1 minute walk away with more to explore including fly fishing of Florida River for the dads 👍. The house was perfect for families with plenty of board games , toys , and Xbox360 to entertain all ages. Beautiful home among the trees with all amenities. Comfortable beds. Very clean. 100% would return with the family.

Tucked away

We loved our stay at Creekside Retreat! The sound of the stream/river was so peaceful and relaxing. The house was just as pictured. The furniture was comfortable. The master bed is a little too soft but everyone has different preferences. My kids and mother in law all slept well in their separate bedrooms. The house was stocked with plenty of garbage bags, toilet paper and paper towels. We loved our daily walks to treasure island and around the neighborhood. We loved the distance from Durango because it helped us feel like we were in a quiet tucked away neighborhood. Thank you for letting us stay in your home!

Woodsy Retreat

A beautiful cabin home set between a charming creek and a stunning river. Treasure Island was a bonus! The home was spacious and comfortable inside and out. Clean, organized and stocked. Big windows in the master allowed for fresh air at night and the beauty of the woods during the day. The kids loved playing outdoors! The only item I would suggest is an extra seating option in the living room. Otherwise everything was perfect!

Durango Family Vacation

Property was in a great location for our needs. The only negatives were a very poorly stocked kitchen as to utensils, dishes, glasses and pots , pans , oven ware. When cooking for 9 to 11 people 3 times a day a better kitchen is a must.

Fantastic family getaway

This property worked out perfectly for our family. Our two toddlers loved playing by the creek right next to the house and the room layout accommodated everyone perfectly. We also really enjoyed relaxing on the back deck listening to the creek.

Great family meeting location

Only two things that kept me from five star rating.. checkout time is too early, and there was animal hair on the master bed pillows. I found extra sheets and pillow cases to change so it worked out. Otherwise, we absolutely loved the location, neighborhood, and home. Would stay again with an hour or two later checkout.

Family wedding in Durango

The house was just right for our family to gather for a wedding. All the rooms were furnished nicely, beds were comfortable, kitchen well equipped. Everything was clean and neat. The sounds of the rushing streams could be heard from the deck and open windows in the forest of pines that surrounded the house. A small "island " trail was nearby to wander a bit around the neighborhood of well kept cabins. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the house and Vacation Accommodations in Durango was great to work with.
