  • This impressive six-person property in Dornoch is a lovely fit for golf devotees, as well as anyone who wants the coast on the doorstep and Highland countryside close by. Royal Dornoch Golf Club (0.5 miles) is the big draw for many visitors, with its world-famous Championship links overlooking the sea. You’re right in the heart of Dornoch town, with its independent shops, places to eat, historic Cathedral and History Links museum. This beautiful 13th-century building has striking stained glass and a few celebrity stories attached to it. The beach is another real highlight of this stay. Dornoch’s beach is less than a mile away, and boasts golden sands, tall dunes and easy walks at any time of year. Follow the shore north towards Embo Beach and keep an eye out for dolphins in the firth. Further afield, Skelbo Castle and Dunrobin Castle offer historic afternoons (both within 12.5 miles).

    Step through the front door of this charming cottage. You'll discover a small entrance hall before continuing past the staircase and into the welcoming lounge, where comfortable seating invites you to settle in after a day out exploring. Switch on the TV or enjoy the subtle glow from the wood burner-effect electric fire as you chat through plans for the following day. From here, double doors open into the impressively spacious kitchen/diner, a sociable heart to the house with plenty of room for cooking, dining and spending time together. The well-equipped kitchen has everything you need for easy holiday meals, including an oven, electric hob, dishwasher and Krups coffee machine, while the additional TV means no one needs to miss their favourite programme while dinner is being prepared. Also on the ground floor, a cosy double room features a three-quarter-size bed and is close to the adjacent shower room with WC. Upstairs, the remaining bedrooms offer a restful retreat at the end of the day. There is one double bedroom and a twin room with two single beds, plus a further shower room with WC.

    On warmer days, open the double doors from the dining area out to the enclosed garden, where there is a drying area and an attractive patio with seating. Start your mornings here with a fresh coffee, or return in the evening for a quiet drink after a day on the coast. To the side of the property, a handy shed houses the washing machine and tumble dryer. There is parking just 20 metres from the property in Gilchrist Square.
