"I have stayed at this hotel over 5 times under 2 different owners. The spa is always impressive however Champneys now charge extra for residents’ access per day. This results in a stampede at 3pm for guests wanting to (rightly) get their money’s worth. It really detracts from the ability to relax. The spa bar area could do with a little TLC: walls marked; carpets covered in crumbs; cobwebs on the ceiling alcoves; plastic champagne flutes!!! The bed was comfortable and the bedroom spacious....

"This is a really, really nice hotel. The room was lovely. Very nicely laid out, very clean and with everything you need. Very nice bathroom with toiletries and with a good shower and large bath. Breakfast was very good with several choices and we enjoyed a full English and Eggs Benedict. "Historic building full of character, enclosed feel as surrounded by trees, friendly and helpful staff, good food, one nice touch was packed lunch available at no extra cost, even better if more soap etc and more comfortable seats in dining room."

"Will not be returning, staff not helpful at all, dog friendly but couldn’t even let the dog have a sausage at breakfast as they had ran out, they had also ran out of biscuits for the room, garden peas and orange juice. Not a cheap nights stay so these things should not be running out!! Best staff were the morning we were leaving, had they had been on all weekend it would have made it a more pleasant stay"
