Great location but not the most comfortable stay

My family and I recently stayed at this VRBO for a family reunion weekend and had a mix of positives and negatives. Overall, we had fun, and the location was great – close to everything we wanted to do. The property served its purpose, but there were a few significant issues that dampened our stay. First, the beds and bedding were uncomfortable. The beds had harsh, paper-thin quilts instead of comforters or soft blankets, making it difficult to get a good night's sleep. Additionally, something in the property caused multiple people in my family to break out in hives and get sick. We woke up with runny noses and rashes, possibly due to mold or dirty fan blades circulating allergens. The space itself felt quite claustrophobic, especially for a group of ten, with not much room to move around. While the property was clean enough, it lacked the spaciousness we expected. Given the price, I expected more attention to basic comfort. I wasn't looking for a luxury stay, but comfortable bedding and regular cleaning of fan blades and air filters would have made a significant difference. The location was definitely the highlight of our stay, but I’m not sure I would book this property again unless these issues are addressed.

We Loved the property…. My family and I had a great time . The kids loved the bedroom downstairs. The location was amazingly close to the beach and local restaurants. We will be staying here again next year !

Great Location, Horrible Rental Company Experience

My husband and I brought our 4 children and we also had my sister’s family stay with us. The house was great! We loved the close proximity to the boardwalk to the beach and my children liked to pool in the neighborhood, as well. The down side to the whole thing was the terrible communication and service of The Port A Beach House Rental Company.. Prior to our vacation, I paid in full, submitted all my info and copies of things asked for, and downloaded their Happy Stays App (which gave check in instructions, but no code for the door). . The app would not allow us to check in prior to or even on our way to the house and instructed us to wait till we were physically ready to check in to continue. When we arrived, exhausted, late in the night, the app check in would not work. We could not get the code for the front door. We repeatedly called the after hours “emergency” line, but no one ever answered, so we left multiple messages. No one called us back. We ended up spending most of the rest of the night in our car, in the driveway, until it got unbearable. My youngest child ended up finding an open window to the house to climb into. The next day, still, no one bothered to return our calls, so I called the rental company, The girl who answered the phone acted concerned after I described our ordeal , said she would look into it and would get back to me bc I felt I should be reimbursed for the first night in the driveway since they dropped the ball and we could not enter the house. I asked her to send me the door code immediately and not until then did we finally get that. I should have received this info before my check in! I never heard a word from them again. They never contacted us. Nice house, but the rental company is a mess! Imagine having paid for a whole night of a house rental but instead, being forced to stay in your car! What a deplorable and unethical way to run a company.

Beach Vacay

The property was fine, location to beach excellent. Two gripes; For the price over 4 figures per night the grill was an abomination. How cheap can you be, buy a decent gas grill. We had six children and in the evening it would of been nice to put on a streaming service that we subscribe to. The TV remotes were not on the property so we couldn't access those options. I called the management company, nice lady, she said she'd work on it. Called back to say TV's weren't capable. I was looking at a capable smart TV, just needed the remote. Too much money for those frustrations.

Great Location!

Great location. Close proximity to the bridge that takes you to the beach. Individual rooms on each floor allow for multiple families to have their own space. The decks were great to look out at the stars at night. We also loved the way the house was decorated.

The location is great; house is beautiful! The only complaint is that the bedroom on the first floor behind the garage smells awful… we saw a previous review about the smell but thought perhaps it was from someone who just had a super-sensitive nose. Their complaint, however, was spot on. That room had water damage at some point. The musty smell (possibly from mold) was absolutely terrible! Our family members that had to sleep in there were miserable. There has to be a way to get rid of that smell for future guests. Other than that, the property was great!

Great house, great location

Very nice house, great location. The management company was easy to deal with, the house was well stocked... All in all, highly recommend. That said, if you are planning on using the room with two beds in it, think twice. There is a very strong musty smell in that room. We didn't need the space, so it was a moot point for us. I don't think it's reasonable to think someone could sleep in that room.

Ideal location for multiple families!

This property was perfect for our 3 families. We spent a lot of time on the large deck, plenty of great seating! Super close to the beach with ocean views from multiple spots! We loved it and would come back. We couldn’t get the Wifi working despite attempts. And some of the beds were hard. But overall for a beach rental it was fantastic!

Port A Beach House - Not So Clean

The property fit our needs well. Only issue is that house was not really very clean. The floor int he kitchen and main living area did not appear to have been swept. We found Cheerios and other debris on the floor in multiple locations. There were other food remnants on the kitchen counter, the trash can lid, and on the kitchen cabinets. The dishwasher was full of dishes that we unloaded ourselves. We had to rewash some of the dishes because they did not come out of the dishwasher clean. There was no dust pan in the house so we used a make shift dust pan to sweep up the place. Some of the furniture in the house had stains on the fabric. Bit of a roach issue in the 1st floor bedroom. The beds and towels were clean. The restrooms were clean.

Don't expect a good night's sleep

I spent quite a bit to stay here and I just expected more out of the property. I was extremely unimpressed with the hard beds throughout the house especially in the Masters bedroom. There were a few dirty dishes I found as I was cooking but I just re washed them. I also found a couple large roaches throughout the house. The location was good and check-in process was easy however I believe the beds need to be replaced ASAP! I didn't sleep comfortably the entire vacation and missed my bed at home!! I would say overall I would not rent this place again because I've stayed in much cheaper places and slept much better!!
