This is a 1st floor Beach inspired Studio unit with 2 Full Size Beds, kitchen and living. The updated grey and white kitchen has granite counter tops, new appliances including a dishwasher, refrigerator, stove/oven, microwave, coffee pot etc. The modern kitchen is also fully equipped with any necessary cookware for your culinary needs. There is a dining table for 2 which can also be used to play games at. The navy wicker loveseat and 2 accent chairs can be arranged to watch the wall mounted TV or just to relax and entertain with guests. There are two Full beds, nightstand and a chest for your beach attire and a full bathroom to accommodate all. Step outside to the private patio and enjoy your morning coffee in the ocean breeze while listening to the waves on the other side of the dunes. Located near downtown Port Aransas, the golf course, shopping, beach access and restaurants. Amenities include: TV, wireless internet, access to Charcoal BBQ pits and picnic areas, laundry facilities, 2 boardwalks and 2 Shared Community Pools.

Mediocre stay

The room was a good size almost like a hotel room. We were provided with one roll of toilet paper and one roll of paper towels. One small roll of toilet paper was obviously not enough. When we got there you could smell the mold in the drains in the bathroom. As soon as I went to wash my hands, the sink immediately was clogged. It would not go down on its own so I had to plunge the sink. There was a ton of buildup and black grime that came flying out. After plunging I tried to wash my hands again, but the same problem happened again. Taking a shower resulted the same way. The tub would not drain whatsoever. We ended up having to go get bleach to break up the buildup in the drain. This property was the only on that did not have a gate for the deck, which wasnā€™t a huge issue, but odd that every other room on the floor did. The sink in the kitchen also it stained yellow, which is a little unpleasant.

This place is located conveniently right next to the boardwalk down to the beach! Communication with the property manager was great, place was clean, and A/C works well.

A very nice stay

We were here for a short trip to the beach with our kids. It was more than adequate for our needs. They provided more than the bare minimum of supplies like towels and soap and toilet paper. The location was perfect for the beach, right at the start of the boardwalk across the dunes! My main complaint is the overwhelming flood of emails, VRBO messages, and text messages after making the booking! Way too many messages to have to read and ensure I didn't miss anything! They need to streamline that somehow.

This is a wonderful place to stay if you want to be on the beach in Port A!Owners might want to look at making the sliding door that leads to the beach a little easier to open.....

Easy access to beach

It was a 3 day two night stay. The unit was super clean. A great little crash pad with great beach access and a pool right across the parking lot. The AC unit leaked a bit of water, and one bed creaked a lot. Overall, Iā€™d definitely stay here again! A great experience.

Great Coastal Getaway

Great place, perfect for a weekend, accessibility to the beach is the best on the property. Short walk to pool. Adequate parking, clean space, secure and safe property. We absolutely enjoyed our stay!

Iā€™m used to a condo being spacious and welcome equipped. The kitchen wasnā€™t stocked with the normal everyday utensils, so I bought some and left them there for the future guests. It was small. It was cramped even for 4 people. It should be listed as a hotel room because that was what it felt like. A small hotel room. Life in paradise customer service was awful as well, as a side note.

Great stay

Great location, the boardwalk to the beach is right in the back, the pool right in the front laundry and trash very close. We loved our stay with 2 adults and 2 kids under 4. Only thing that could be better would be the stuff they give you. Bring your own beach towels, toilet paper. The dishwasher was not working properly. There was no trash bags and there was trash from previous people left behind couch and under bed (food). The apartment was perfect for 4 people. Truly enjoy our stay.

Wonderful Stay

I absolutely loved the condo! It had everything you could need! The location was great right next to board walk out the back door and pool across the parking lot out the front door! My son accidentally shut the door with my phone inside and the front desk was able to contact the owner and get us back inside quick! The property was great with plenty of things to do and everything near by! I would definitely recommend and will be booking again!

Awesome Condo for Vacation

My family and I loved staying here for our vacation. Clean and quiet place in a great location. The boardwalk to the beach is just out the back door and it is a short walk down to the water. The condo has everything you need for a great vacation and the air conditioner is ice cold. We will be back next summer!

Amazing Location for a Getaway

The property itself is in an amazing location. The boardwalk to get to the beach is literally right outside the back porch. Itā€™s a very clean property with easy access and the decor is cheesy but really cute and well placed throughout. We didnā€™t have much trouble finding parking - in fact we parked right in front of the unit many times - but thatā€™s probably because we stayed Sunday - Wednesday in April. Now a lot of people mention the beds being VERY uncomfortable and the sheets were scratchy and I will have to agree with that. They are full size mattresses that are VERY hard and can hardly comfortably sleep 2 adults on one. I would suggest that the owner/managers of the property invest in at least 1/2 inch mattress toppers as that would make all the difference. Another thing that wasnā€™t explicitly stated on the description was the fact that you had to download another app (Happy Stays) and pay the initial AND the remaining balance through that app or by calling them. I was under the assumption everything would be handled through VRBO automatically but that was not the case. You will receive an email from the company that manages the unit with some information - but mine went to my spam folder so make sure you look out for that. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay which allowed us to refresh ourselves It was a beautiful, clean and safe location and a beautiful time of year to go. The location is PRIME as the center of town was not too far away and the beach access was literally walking out the doors. Would definitely recommend the unit and stay there again but I strongly hope they update the mattresses or even add a topper for a bit more comfort and add a bit more clarity as to the booking process. Thanks for creating this beautiful space for us to enjoy ourselves in!

Anniversary Trip

We had our original trip to Colorado Springs cancelled on Monday morning - I was able to book this property Monday afternoon and we arrived Tuesday. We were even able to check in early and enjoyed the location. We were really close to the beach and walked there to see the sunrise every morning. They were preparing for Sandfest (happening this weekend), so we had to walk around the fence. Everything was great. We would love to stay there again - it was quiet and close to everything.

Good but with a few not so goods

Island Retreat is a great location to stay. The buildings donā€™t look like much from the front but itā€™s the back facing the beach that you care about and that is perfection! I will list some good points about this specific unit and some not good points. None of the not good points on their own is a deal breaker but when you put them all together it made for a less than perfect stay and I will probably seek about another unit/owner for my next stay. Good: * Location-the view from the patio is perfection with nothing but dunes between you and the water. The first floor unit makes it very easy to get your beach items out the door and ready to go. * Decor-the beach theme of this unit is really attractive. The blue walls and bedding is perfect. *Upgraded cabinets and fixtures in the kitchen in bath are clean and modern. Not so Good: *despite an earlier text promising to provide me the door code at check in I did not receive one and after check-in time I had to first text and then call before I received the code 30 minutes after check-in time. *zero unit information in their app, inside the unit regarding WiFi password. I had to text for it. *beds are extremely firm and the one closest to the window has springs that can be felt. The sheets are extremely scratchy to the point that I slept on top of the bedspread using a blanket I had brought with me. *the bathtub has a very slow drain-the kind that has taken a very long time to develop without being maintained. I was ankle deep in water and stopped the shower 2-3 times to let a bit drain out. *black mold on the a/c vents that I took the time to wipe clean-not sure why housekeeping hadnā€™t thought to do the same.

This is a great location just off the beach at Port A. The boardwalk to the beach was closed due to flooding, which would have been good to know, but there wasnā€™t anything that could be done about it.

Renter Beware

Although this condo has a good view and it's location is just off the beach, that is all it has going for it. First, parking is first come first serve. Only one row of parking for columns of three story buildings so good luck parking near your unit. From the pictures, the rental looks nice and cozy, but then you start discover things. Mattresses on the beds are outdated, we felt as we were sleeping on box spring beds they were so hard. The sheets looked as if they weren't changed, when we arrived, the comforters were stained with bodily fluid as well as blood stains all over. We turned over a pillow case to further check the sheets, we discovered food stains (with food sill stuck) on the pillow case. All of this could have been avoided if the unit was cleaned properly before our check-in. So someone along the line failed at this. (We also have pictures of all these things we plan to put on Google as well). We called management and told them about the bed sheets and they did apologize and sent someone to replace them. But, this caused us to hang around the room longer instead of getting our vacation started. We should NOT have had to deal with this in the first place. So we doubted the cleanliness of the entire room which made the stay more uncomfortable not knowing if they follow said cleaning procedures. Luckily we brought our own towels and disinfectant spray and wipes to clean high touched surface areas. Our second day there, My wife grabbed a glass cup from the cabinet and noticed it was extremely dirty so she put it back and we went to go buy plastic cups and paper plates for our stay. I would just keep these things in mind when deciding to stay here. Also, this is just our experience here.
