The Haven at Mt. Herman

Nestled in pine trees with Mt. Herman as our backdrop, our home is located on 5 acres of land (completely fenced) that provide a peaceful, private setting, with extensive opportunities for nearby activities. The home consists of three levels, each with unique qualities. The upstairs is an elegant suite complete with a spa bath. The main level has a queen bed for two, while the lower level is set up perfectly for a family. Each level has its own full bath.

The Haven is only two "blocks" away from National Forest where you can enjoy hiking, biking, or running along the many trails. Climbing Mt. Herman is a uniquely rewarding experience!

Historic downtown Monument is two miles away with a number of dining options and interesting shops to browse. Historic Palmer Lake is only 5 miles away, offering a similar experience. Whatever your interests, our region can satisfy. The Haven at Mount Herman is your home base for easy and quick access to the Air Force Academy, the city of Colorado Springs (with activities too numerous to mention), or even shopping at the Outlet Mall at Castle Rock. Take a tour through some of the most well known Christian organizations in the world such as Glen Aerie Castle (Navigators), Focus on the Family, or Compassion International. Or... simply relax and enjoy the serenity of our property, perhaps with that book you've been meaning to read for so long.

Too, bring the entire family - children are WELCOME and will be entertained for hours in our large, indoor play/recreation room offering fun for children of all ages; from LEGOs to ping pong to games. Pets are also welcome as long as they are healthy, get along well with people, other dogs, and are under owner's watch at all times.

We are a no smoking property, so no "blowing smoke" anywhere on our acreage. Whatever your purpose, whatever your needs, come and stay with us to refresh your mind and rejuvenate your spirit.

Perfect family vacation home

Our family came to Monument to celebrate Christmas together. Judy went above and beyond to make the home feel warm and welcoming and we loved all the festive holiday decor. We travelled with our adult children, teen kids, and our young grandson. This house had plenty of room everyone and plenty to do. Our boys spent countless hours in the playroom having rounds of ping pong matches. We loved sprawling out in the great room for family movie and game nights. The kitchen had everything we needed to make all of our Christmas favorite meals and desserts. We loved the hiking trail that was right down the road and had a wonderful time exploring the area. Judy and her husband are the ultimate hosts and we are so thankful for all the amazing Christmas memories we created with our family.

Wonderful Stay

This was a wonderful find. Hidden among tall pine trees, the house itself is private and holds more than you could ever imagine. From the expansive outside deck, to the comfortable bedrooms, well stocked kitchen, and the well appointed game room on the bottom floor, we had everything that we needed and so much more. With two toddlers in the group, we would sit in the game room for several hours and just watch them entertain themselves with the toys that were there. Outside on the bottom of the property you could see horses on the adjoining property (big hit with little girls) and see the beautiful countryside. If you have a party with adults and kids, this is the place. Actually even with just adults, wonderful place, well appointed and responsive contact with the owners. I would readily reserve again.

What a perfect place to stay for our son’s wedding. It was peaceful, quiet, comfortable and more than enough space for everyone. I personally loved the fact that there were no TVs!!! Thank you allowing us to stay at your beautiful home. We also really loved the “neighborhood” for talking morning walks.

Family reunion

The haven at Mt. Herman is just that-a haven. The moment we arrived it felt as if we had just arrived home. The hosts were so very friendly and made us feel very welcome. The home was comfortable and we had everything we needed to make our stay relaxed and wonderful. The house with its decks surrounded by pines and views of the mountains provided a peaceful escape that was greatly needed. To top it off, fresh homemade bread that was delicious! We can wait to go back next year!

Simply Amazing

Great location on acreage and surround by horse farms, tucked in to the base of Mt Herman with beautiful views. Very comfortable home with great outdoor decks and patios. A very friendly, generous and knowledgable owner. The home has everything you will need in the way of comfort, cooking need isolation, yet very close to the historic district of Monument. I highly recommend to stay there.

The best mountain haven in Monument!

My family and I have stayed at this property a number of times now and love it every time. There are 10 of us total, (4 adults and 6 kids, ages 4-15). It’s spacious enough for us to all spread out, but also so cozy for family games, movies, and hikes. Over the years our kids have loved playing with the toys in the “play” garage and this year they squealed and laughed happily for hours in the new addition playing duck-duck-goose. The yard is also fully fenced so it’s a perfect nature playground for human and fur-kids alike. Our dogs absolutely love running free and visiting the friendly neighbor animals through the fence. Kelly and Judy are the nicest hosts, and so very attentive to anything we could ever need. Knowing our San Diego kids were excited to see snow, Judy had sleds ready for my kids and showed them the best sledding hill in the yard as soon as we pulled up. The kitchen is well-stocked with plenty of staples and we always hope to leave a little something for the next guest in return. Overall the house is a great place for any families looking for some down time in the crisp mountain air. Finding this place has been a true blessing to our family.

Most Gracious Host and Beautiful Property

If you are in the Colorado Springs area and you’re looking for not only a beautiful property to stay at but the most gracious and accommodating hosts we’ve ever encountered, look no more! Kelly & Judy have a heart for serving others and it shows from the moment you book with them until you check out! The property is absolutely amazing and they have thought about everything and provide you with so many extras! Do not look past this property, it will not disappoint.

Wonderful

Beautiful home and setting. Home away from home. Slept 6 adults and 5 children very comfortably. Enjoy a cup of coffee on the deck in the morning. Watch the sun set over Mount Herman in the evening. Outdoors to explore with the kids. The property owners went above and beyond to make our stay special. Highly recommend for your family vacation.

Great location

Home is very comfortable and a great place to gather with friends. The host provided an overview of the property, coffee and fresh bread it had everything you need to make meals or bbq. Only challenge was having physical keys for the property. Had to coordinate arrival times with everyone to ensure they could access the house

Great place for large family and great owners!

We brought our 6 over 18 kids and a spouse. We were able to sleep all 9 of us comfortably. The house is stocked nicely with any utensils needed/towels/etc. He game room was wonderful for a ping pong tournament and even some hiking supplies. I can see how families with young children would love it as well. We had an issue with a tire and were even able to borrow a small air compressor from the owners to use to get it aired up enough to get it into town. We would love to stay here longer and again!!

Great family vacation

We loved staying at this property. The kids loved the playroom and seeing all the animals at the farms next door. The adults loved the hiking next to the house since it is next door to the national forest. We've stayed in a lot of VRBO's and none of them have been supplied as well as this house. It was very clean on our arrival and had plenty of space for everyone to spread out. It had a very "homey" feel. Since we had to make extra trips to the airport, this location was great because it sits between the airport and the activities we wanted to do. It does not have a television, but we were too busy to watch it anyway, The only negative is that the pine trees were pollinating while we were there and since there is no air conditioning we had to leave the windows open. It made for a lot of sneezing and runny noses. It does get quite warm in the upstairs bedroom during the day. Overall, we had a wonderful family vacation here and highly recommend it to everyone.

Short stay for son’s usafa graduation

Our visit was wonderful! This home is beautifully organized and impeccably clean. Everything you could need has been thought of and provided by the hosts. They have gone out of their way to make their home seem like yours. This home is perfect for any family group and especially for one with children. Other notable assets include both the peaceful wooded setting with easy hiking access, as well as the home’s layout, to include a large gathering room perfect for a larger family or group.

Fantastic

Beautiful property surrounded by woods. House was perfect, well appointed, wonderful beds and linens, an incredible playroom full of toys for kids, ping pong table. Kitchen very well equipped. The hosts were very helpful and available but never intrusive, left homemade bread and fresh flowers for our arrival. Would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful experience!

Right from the start the owners were great to communicate with. They were extremely responsive and helpful to us during our stay. The home is warm and inviting and had everything we needed for a great time away from home. We highly recommend visiting The Haven when you are traveling in the area.

Great home, great location

We had three different family groups in this home. The set up was perfect with a play room for the kids on the same floor as their bedroom. And a bedroom for their parents right across the hall. Bedroom on the middle floor where the kitchen and dining room were also located. Perfect for the cook of the group. The upper level also has it's own private and beautiful bedroom and bath. The deer were plentiful, the sunrises a blessing and all in all a great place. Would stay here again in a heart beat.

Amazing amenities

Everything was perfect! Just as described and all the reviews were spot on. The Haven was fabulously appointed and nothing has been overlooked. We cooked at home and ate out. We loved the location as a bunch USAFA grads here for their 50th reunion. Appreciate all the attention to detail.

Won’t stay anywhere else!

This is our second time to stay here! Kelly and Judy have furnished The Haven with anything and everything you will need. The location is perfect for anyone with events at the Air Force Academy and the views are breathtaking. Due to airline issues, we arrived a day late, while one of our party was on time. Kelly and Judy graciously let another family member check in AND gave us information on transportation from Denver instead of Colorado Springs. The home made bread and fresh flowers are just an example of their thoughtfulness. We will be back!
