The scenic Withlacoochee River Pet-friendly Bird House

Rent this 1 bedroom, 1 bath Dunnellon waterfront rental in tranquil old Florida. The Birdhouse is located in Dunnellon on the scenic Withlacoochee River. The house has an open space floor plan with a newly renovated interior, queen-sized bed, a large screened porch overlooking the river and a completely renovated kitchen. This river house property also includes a smart tv, WiFi, Ring doorbell as well as a fire pit. The Birdhouse location is minutes from Ocala and Crystal River. There's loads of room for boat parking.

The Birdhouse is in an ideal location for boating, canoeing, kayaking, cycling, hiking, birdwatching and fishing. You will have quick access to the Rainbow River, Withlacoochee River and Lake Rousseau from this waterfront property. Fishing from the private dock has proven effective for guests with nice catches of bass and catfish. Remember, relaxing in the hammock is always an option after kayaking, cycling or sightseeing.

This is the most amazing, and private little hideaway. Completely fenced off yard for the puppy children to come along. Everything was set up perfectly and thoughtfully. Everything to make it feel like a perfect, comfy home away from home. And for the bird lovers.... there are SO many varieties. To wake up and listen to them from the screened in porch is something i cannot put into words. I highly recommend.

The place was GREAT! Just as described - so peaceful, clean, open, great for the dogs, great location! I told him we were coming for my husband's birthday and he had a birthday banner and cupcakes and flowers there for us! Such a thoughtful thing! And the location is directly on the water! Perfect for our kayak - we can go right up the river, go to another river, or right down the river and stay on it or go to a restaurant (literally maybe a 1 minute kayak ride to eat if you want)! You can hear a little bit of traffic, but the birds never stop singing, and you can people watch the boats going by your personal dock all day if you want to! The dogs loved it, and so did we! Would 100% go back! And the bed is very comfortable, too! Hiking is also very close by! Had everything we could have asked for! Perfect getaway for one or two people, and even better with dogs!!

All was as advertised. It was comfortable and was equipted with everything we needed. The beb was great. The only con was there were no blinds on the latge glaee doors in the back. This bothered my wife a bit.

We had such a wonderful stay at the Bird house. We loved the property and so dig our dog. We enjoyed sitting on the dock, having a fire pit or two and drinking coffee on the porch. There are great restaurants nearby and so hiking at the Rainbow Springs park was a treat! The cabin was stocked with so many extras that were greatly appreciated! We will definitely be back!

Pros: Dana is a great communicator and host, the cottage and property are beautiful, especially the waterfront dock. Our dog loved the expansive and beautiful backyard, and Dana even had fresh flowers waiting for us.Cons: the pillows could be more comfortable and the refrigerator was a bit noisy, but not unbearable. Dana did come over right away to work on it when we let him know.Generally, it was a very pleasant day and we would stay again.

I had a wonderful experience staying at the Withlacoochee River Bird House! The location right on the river and the property was exceptional. The house was unique with its decor and had a lot of charisma and character. Very thoughtful touches to welcome guests. My pup loved it and didn’t want to leave! The host, Dana, was great and very kind. Wish I could have stayed longer!

The cabin was extremely cozy for my husband, myself, and our lab. We loved the yard and the dock that sat right on the river. We saw a couple of alligators in the river our first night, so I would not recommend jumping in! Dana was extremely helpful and even left a dog toy for our lab. We sat on the porch almost every night. It was perfect for our few days away.

The house and amenities were attractiveThe bed was not good for me. I have back issues and for some reason the bed set them off. My husband slept fine. My dog loved the fenced in yard and the house and screen room as she could play easily. Loved the screen porch and the areas for sitting in the yard. Just looking at the water was soothing. Walking the dog in the neighborhood presented many rundown homes which was sad to see. It was such a surprise given the Bird House and the attentiveness to that and some of the other properties. Hopefully the city will address some of the immediate area blight. Overall, we felt safe at the house and property and would recommend friend and family to stay.

Overdue and much needed get away. Very happy with our choice, will go back as soon as we can. Best view every morning from the porch w/the birds…. Location was near so many things. River was very peaceful and relaxing.
