The John Bulow House at 174 A#2 Saint Philip Street is a 2-bed 2-bath gem blending modern comfort with Charleston’s rich history just one block from King St. Recognized with 5 Carolopolis Awards and the SC Governor’s Award for Historic Restoration, this retreat offers a premier location perfect for families or groups seeking an authentic Charleston experience.

Bedroom 1 – King bed with end tables, lamps, and tasteful art.
Bedroom 2 – King bed, ensuite bath, elegant decor.

Bath 1: Full bath with tub, shower fixtures.
Bath 2: Marble and tile custom shower with glass door.

Living Room – Sofa sleeper, flat-screen TV, stylish art, natural light.
Kitchen – Fully stocked, combination Keurig pod / drip coffee maker.
Dining Area – Glass-topped table with four upholstered chairs.

This is not a typical short-term rental; it is not a renovated dependency or a newly constructed unit in an old neighborhood, nor is it situated on a tiny lot in a questionable or remote area. The old hardwood floors, tall ceilings, original moldings, plasterwork, windows, and doors exude a special warmth, character, and charm that is very difficult to achieve in new construction. The exterior copper roof and guttering provide additional warmth and character. It's the real deal!

- Any decorations must be secured using painter’s tape only to avoid damage to walls.
- Guests must follow trash disposal instructions provided by the host.
- Please return all items and furniture to their original locations.
- The Wonderer access must be booked in advance – no refunds for availability issues.

The place was amazing and close to everything. I was also impressed by the cleanliness of the unit. They only thing I’d recommend is maybe spraying for mosquitoes as I got bitten up heavily while sitting in the lovely courtyard. (My fault though for not bringing bug spray). We would definitely stay again!

Family trip

We brought my parents to Charleston for the first time and this place was perfect for two couples. The beds were very comfortable and we enjoyed the courtyard area as well. The kitchen had everything we needed for lite breakfasts and the off-street parking was incredibly convenient. We would definitely stay here again!

My sister and I met for a quick weekend in Charleston. The unit was perfect - exactly as described, very clean & comfortable, and great location one block from shopping and restaurants. The building is situated in a complex with an adorable courtyard where we sat outside and enjoyed the weather. The host was very responsive and communicated timely. Great for a getaway

We spent a long weekend, and the place was great. It’s close enough to walk everywhere, but some of the places like the Market and Battery were longer walks, so give yourself time, or grab an Uber. Off street parking was great!

Charleston Family Trip

We stayed at this property to move our son into CofC. The unit was clean, very comfortable and well stocked with everything needed for a nice stay! Great location to King Street and approximately 2 miles to the waterfront. The courtyard was wonderful with water fountains and comfortable couches and tables with chairs. There was also a very helpful itinerary with restaurant recommendations! We will definitely be back!

Cute, Clean, Great Safe Location

We enjoyed our stay and loved the area for walking to shops, restaurants, bars, and parks. The house was comfortable and cozy! The dueling piano bar was one of our favorite spots and we enjoyed a day on folly beach. Unfortunately we left a little early to avoid Hurricane Debby coming through but had a great visit.

Ideal apartment

Very nice spacious apartment overall. Location was very convenient, a block away from the main strip, close enough to walk everywhere but far enough that it was quiet at night. Apartment was very clean and well appointed. Beds and furniture are comfortable. AC worked well. Off street parking was a plus. Only issue was that we did not get any information on the check in process due to a system error but I called the number provided and a lovely woman walked me through everything. It was late but she answered anyway which was appreciated. It was ideal for our family of 5.
