Outdoorsy guests will be itching to get out and about, and can enjoy a 3-mile circular walk through the Gatehouse of Fleet (6 miles) village to Cally Woods. There are even multiple cycling routes from the village, and, of course, a few pubs, coffee shops and restaurants to enjoy. Nearby Kirkcudbright (12 miles), known as the artists’ town, features a picturesque harbour, old streets and a lively calendar of events, while Castle Douglas (18 miles), Scotland’s designated Food Town, is perfect for local produce and independent shops. Finish the day with gorgeous sunset walks along the hidden-gem beach at Auchenlarie (2 miles).

Take the three steps up to the veranda and make your way into this bespoke-built shepherd's hut. Inside, a curved roof and spacious living space make this stay incredibly cosy from the get-go. Enjoy the open-plan living space, where stylish leather chairs, a Smart TV and a blazing wood burner beckon you to unwind. Use the fun-size, modern kitchen to rustle up Scottish delicacies. At the breakfast bar, enjoy romantic meals for two. When you’re tired, the bedroom area at the back of the lodge features a king-size bed and generous storage. A spacious shower room with a WC completes the interior.

After rambling along the scenic coastal spots, sink into the steamy copper bath that’s located in your private outside area. With uninterrupted sea views, this is the perfect place to kick back. The veranda is enclosed, making it safe for your pup, and offers additional seating so you can take in some of Scotland’s finest vistas. There is private parking for 1 car.
