"We stayed at the Margaritaville Compass Hotel for a weekend getaway, and overall it was a decent experience, but definitely an expensive one. Between the room, food, drinks, and parking, we spent around $1,000 for the weekend, so my expectations were pretty high. "Clean room with no frills. Ice machine on second floor did not work. Had to go to the third floor to get ice. "

"We LOVE staying at this property, but honestly until the double guest room showers are updated we may not return. I am aware there is a queen ADA room, but we cannot stay together in that room as there is only one bed. My mother fell in the shower as there was no non-skid mat in the room. The showers in the double rooms are WAY TOO SMALL and unsafe. It is a miracle that she was not more seriously injured. "The Google Photos of this hotel make it look far more appealing than it actually is. My wife and I stayed here for 4 days and not once did we get fresh towels, toilet paper, trash bags, or sheets. On top of that, each day we were here, our key magically would stop working while we were out around town causing us to repeatedly have to get it fixed. "We enjoyed our stay very much! Originally from Maui, Ocracoke reminded us very much of old Lahina and Paia towns. Black Beards Lodge is funky and awesome. Our room was clean and comfortable with great rocking chairs out on the front porch to watch the birds and people watch.
