Shackup Tower - 30 ft in the air & hot tub & surf

Perched high on an ocean hillside, built on 30 ft tall steel legs, the cozy quarters above are akin to an old ship’s cabin. With 360 views at 30ft up you can chart the sun and stars across the sky, set your rhythm to the ebb & flow of the tide and scout the surf from above. Greet the evenings with a cozy woodstove, sunset with drinks on the deck, moonrise with a dip in the hottub & mornings with fresh espresso. Permit yourself to depart land for a while and come stand watch at The Tower.

The tower is an adventure, but we dare say the most comfortable adventure you've ever been on. We built this place to give you all the creature comforts while you get lost in the vastness of the surrounding sea.

Floating above the ocean yet tethered to the ground on large steel legs. This place will pick you up and let you sink into nature, a good book, a hot tub soak, a hearty cooked meal, and relax into yourself and each other.

Here are a few details you'll want to know:

Hot Tub: The private hot tub is tucked in to the east facing alcove, oriented to watch the moon rise and the sunrise, and oversee looking the bluff of Cape La Have and the other La Have Islands. It's the perfect size for two and will be hot when you arrive.

Woodstove: Cozy up on the custom built couches in front of the fire, the wood stove provides the perfect warmth to the place and everything you need for it is provided.

Kitchen: the kitchen is small but well equipped. It has a gas range and oven and all the things you need to cook a hearty meal.

Coffee: the Tower has a Breville espresso maker
If espresso isn't your thing, we offer a stove top maker and a French press.
Coffee for all is provided.

Bathroom: located 30ft up, the small bathroom has everything you need including a small shower.

Bed: a queen bunk is ready for you, with views of little harbour and the ocean beyond.

Decks: the Tower is surround by decks, 360 degrees and offers two tucked in alcoves, one facing the west and one the east.

Entertainment: we offer a curated tape collection, blue tooth speaker, board games and books (there is wifi) Plus the hot tub, views, and wood stove. You'll have lots to enjoy!

The 30ft up part: the Tower is built on legs standing 30ft above the ground. The trek up includes 4 sets of stairs. The stairs are a comfortable gate but you might want to pack accordingly.

Pets: the Tower, due to it's nature, is not pet friendly. Please message if you have a special circumstance.

the place is wonderfully private!

We provide self check in. We’re available if you need us but we will leave you lots of privacy if you don’t need us. The place is all yours.

Laundry and supplies are dropped to the lower wood shed and supply shed on Tuesdays and Thursdays. A Shackup staff member will be in the driveway for approximately 10 minutes during this time. They will leave you in complete privacy and won't disturb you or come any where near the tower itself.

Snow is plowed and shovelled when needed.

Broad Cove is a pretty fishing village on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. Boasting wonderful beaches, walks, a seasonal cafe and East Coast charm.

The use of the hot tub is at your own risk.

Laundry and supplies are dropped to the Tower's supply shed, located inside the woodshed at ground level, on Tuesday's and Friday's. A Shackup staff member will be in the driveway for approximately 10 minutes during this time. They will leave you in complete privacy and won't disturb you in the Tower.
