"Our stay was very average for such a grand hotel. The room felt like we were stopping in the servants quarters rather than a nice hotel. It was small and basic but clean and we got a good nights sleep. Breakfast was good. Parking here can be difficult if you turn up in the evening and there is a charge. Great location for all that Buxton has to offer and very convenient for the many restaurants and bars."
"The outside hot pool and bar great...indoor pool chilly...jacuzzy great....treatment rooms rather stark and chilly....my room was ok...the hotel generally is good...but would benefit from more cleaning of door frames and paints...starting to be on the verge of looking tired...."
"The hotel rooms were very dated and the walls are so thin we heard every little noise from other doors banging, people walking around above us and up and down the corridor. We asked to move rooms after the first night and the staff were accommodating to this. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and the Spa is so beautiful. There is an extra charge for the spa if you don’t have a spa day included in package but well worth the money."

The location is excellent for exploring the Peak District, with beautiful walks straight from the doorstep, including Lathkill Dale. The swimming pool was a real bonus after a day of walking, and the games room was great fun, with pool, table tennis, darts, giant Jenga and other games available.

"An extremely comfortable hotel, in a superb location for the city centre and entertainments such as the Crucible and cinemas, the room was spacious and with good facilities; excellent shower, good table space, large comfy bed. Reception staff were very welcoming and helpful and the breakfasts are great."
