This area is ideal for guests who want mountain charm without feeling too far away from town. In winter, Beech Mountain and Sugar Mountain are nearby for skiing, snowboarding, and tubing. In spring, summer, and fall, guests can enjoy cool mountain weather, waterfalls, hiking, wineries, festivals, golf, and some of the best scenic drives in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Mountain roads can be steep or winding, especially during winter weather, so guests visiting during snow or ice season should plan ahead and consider 4WD or chains when conditions call for it.
