Oyster Cove 341: Cove-front, rooftop deck w/views, boat dock

New in our program, this home has many great reviews from past guests.

Enjoy spectacular sunsets over Pamlico Sound perched atop a rooftop deck or just 'swinging' in the hammock on the expansive screened porch - either way, this cottage provides the ideal setting for relaxation. A newly rebuilt boat dock with a kayak launch and an adjacent boat ramp offers perfect access to the sound for fishing and windsurfing.

This charming cove-front cottage has plenty to offer vacationers in terms of comfy furnishings and beautiful decor. The three bedrooms offer a queen bed, two single beds, and a single day bed, perfect for getting a good night's sleep after a long, fun-filled day at the beach. The queen bedroom overlooks the picturesque cove. Standard amenities are available except dishwasher, central A/C, and VCR. A/C window units are available. You'll also enjoy the convenience of lockable storage for stowing any extra vacation equipment and necessities.

Won’t be back

Feels like this house isn’t really cared for just barely cleaned in between guests and nobody ever takes the time to make any repairs or updates. Location is great that’s about all the positives I can say.

Avoid this property and rental company

The only thing good about the property is the view. The pictures online are at least 10 years old. Everything is old and fallen apart and very dirty. I told the rental company about the TV and microwave not working it wasn't till Thursday at the end of the week before this issue was fixed.

Possibly the best kayak dock on the island

I stayed at this home years ago, so I knew what to expect. The outdoors of this home is excellent. The deck, screened porch, dock and outdoor furniture are great. The view of the sound and sunsets are worth the price of admission. The air conditioning units kept us comfortable. If you think of this place as 2 bedrooms and 1 bath and an extra bedroom and bath in a pinch, you won't be so disappointed in the downstairs bedroom and bath. Perhaps put someone you don't care so much for down there. If the price stays reasonable, I'll return for a third time.

Just the basics.

As some have mentioned, the view it the best thing about this property. No dishwasher, minimal kitchenware, the kitchen table chairs all have stains and dirt on their cushions. I made it a point to bring a good kitchen knife and a versatile cooking pot. Both came in handy. The AC window units were adequate. Keep one on overnight to keep the bottom floor bedroom comfortable. Just the basics kind of beach house. But it did not take away from our overall vacation experience.

Worst vacation stay ever

I feel as though we was catfished with the online pictures. The TV and microwave was messed up until Thursday when someone was finally sent out to take care of them. After being contacted on Sunday. Everything was dirty and outdated. My family complained the entire time. 3200 was basically stolen. My vacation wasted.

Great location and price but condition of home was very dated and worn. Floors slanted, kitchen did not have dishwasher or garbage disposal and basic cooking essentials. Lots of seating inside and out. One bedroom with full sized bed is in lower level without AC.

Great location

The house could be beautiful. Give a fresh coat of paint and a little face lift on appliances and it would be a gem. Needs TLC all around. Could have a few things for the beach goers, like chairs, boogie boards… we left a couple blow up floats for the next family to enjoy. Also maybe a crab pot or two would be nice. A few more utensils(tongs, big spoons…) and baking sheets would be nice. Also, just a regular charcoal grill is almost a must at a place like this. Overall not a bad place to stay. Be a great place

We love this house because if fits our larger family`s needs. Last year we were able to have a family reunion, allowing everyone to visit with my mother-in-law who is suffering from alzheimer`s, which was truly a blessing. We love the location! Amazing views of the Sound. Very private and quiet, feels secluded. It has been the perfect getaway from the hustle & bustle of everyday life. Lots of activities for the kids. Love the ability to rent kayacs & bikes, so we don`t have to bring our own. Sound Therapy has become an annual family tradition. This review was submitted while the home was managed by a different property management company.

Description was not accurate

The downstairs screened in porch was wonderful. The boat launch was nice, but not cleaned, very slippery. The house has a great location. However, this house needs a lot of updates. There was water damage in several areas, not all the lights had working lightbulbs., no central air, what us called a bedroom had a daybed, no air conditioning, ceiling falling. And 2 cockroaches!! This house needs a lot of work, it has alot if potential.

Classic Beach House Vibes / Excellent View / Needs a Deep Clean

We loved the location and the view. We loved the old beach house charm this house offers. Even without central air and the highs in the upper 90’s all week, it was just fine. The dock and the ramp made fishing for Pin Fish, Drum and smaller Speckled Trout super easy from the bank or our kayaks. What we didn’t expect was to have to clean the house upon arrival. While the linens were spotless, we had to sweep the floors, clean the kitchen countertops, all the utensils, the bathrooms and even the outside deck area from clothing that was left from the previous renters. I’d recommend the owner take 2-3 weeks worth of rent income and do some simple things to this house to prevent less than 5-star ratings like it has. Painting the upstairs bathroom ceiling to get rid of the mold, new flooring upstairs, replacing the paneling where the roof had leaked, add some small smart TV’s to the bedrooms…..simple things could be done to improve this house but it’s literally like it’s been forgotten. I’ll be surprised if Vacasa manages it next year if improvements aren’t made.

great location...very disappointing home

We loved the location with beautiful views of the sunset and a good location to launch our kayaks in the Sound. The screened in porch was helpful for shade and rainy days. The house was dirty and very poorly maintained - walls, ceiling and floors buckling and uneven. Appliances rusty. Shabby and broken decor. We contacted Vacasa re: insect infestation, including cockroaches. They sent someone out the next day and we observed dead insects after that visit. The many window AC units kept the house reasonably comfortable, but the filters were all clogged with a thick mat of dust which we cleaned out. The listing was clear that there was not central air conditioning, but the constant loud drone of the window units was wearing. Overall, an uncomfortable environment.

Beautiful Sunset

We stayed at this little gem the last week in June. Many pros to this place but not sure if we will be back due to the A/C unit in the living room not being sufficient. First off the view is spectacular for the sound side. Every day we would eat at the kitchen table and watch the sunset and during breakfast we would eat at the table and watch the view out the back. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. Also, the screen in porch was amazing and as everybody else was headed inside due to bugs we were able to stay outside. You definitely can’t beat the price of this rental. A few cons… The house does not have central air which I was expecting. However, it appears that the A/C unit that was supposed to cool down the living room, dining room, kitchen broke and a window unit was installed. The problem is this window unit is not sufficient to cool down that area. The temperature in the living room read 80-84 most of the time because that window unit was not able to keep up. Also, the bottom bedroom did not have any form of fan and that area was too warm to use. I will say that a/c Unit in both upstairs bedroom works very well. The other con was the deck right outside the kitchen needs to be power washed. Very moldy along with the deck furniture. Just two other things to note that is a misrepresentation in the description… There is no dishwasher and it says two queen size beds. There’s only one queen size bed in the one room, two twin size beds in the other room, and the room downstairs that does not have any air has one twin size bed. Again it was no big deal for what we needed but just wanna let people know in case they were expecting it. You definitely can’t beat the view from this house. If you like to kayak this is a prime location.
