Happy in Florida

We were very happy. The back yard was beautiful. The house was clean. It had almost everything we needed. Location was great. The one thing difficult was the hot tub not heating up in cooler weather since that’s exactly when we wanted it.

Nice House/Great location

We are a couple that stayed here for a 5 day get away in December. We have been to Anna Maria before and have rented numerous homes on the island. This house has a great location. Close to the beach and walking distance to the shops. We enjoy the quiet end of the island. The home is definitely older but had some great amenities. The home was cleaned well upon our arrival. We loved the pool area and sitting on the doc. The kitchen is dated but had all the cooking/dishes etc needed. It would have been nice to have a few items such as salt and pepper, coffee filters, some spices. But not a big deal. It was nice to have linens, towels and beach towels. Master bedroom is large and mattress was okay but could have been better (big lump in the center of the bed). We did switch one night to the bedroom that is off the kitchen and that bed was definitely better. Loved the space as well of that room as well. This home is ideal for a large family with the added separate space. For the price we paid this time of year it was definitely worth the money. Regarding the complaints seen previously for the door alarms, yes they can be annoying but you would have them in any home on the island with a pool. The home in person is the same as the pics. Again great location and honestly we spent our time out at the pool/spa the most which was awesome.

The house had inadequate paper goods. We had to purchase toilet paper, paper towels, garbage bags. And laundry detergent. AMI called two days before we checked in and let us know that if the property was not rented the night before we would be able to get into the place early. We changed all of our plans based on the fact that we would be able to get into the house early. Since we knew it had not been rented on the website. We waited with groceries in the car for hours. AMI absolutely would not give us the code to the house, not one minute before 3 o’clock and we could not enter the house before 4pm - why in the world did they ever call us!!! We were not looking for an early check-in, they called us and and through the conversation let us know the house was available. A Hotel would let you in if your room is available. The big squeak in the headThis all made our stay regrettable.

Property was really dated in all aspects. Pool & backyard were best aspect.

So the property was very dated - circa 1950’s. Lighting was also dim and made the interior feel smaller than it really was. Pool & hot tub were very nice - except that the pool vacuum cleaner device was left in the pool. Not a big deal to swim around, but didn’t seem like it belonged there when there were guests. The instructional video to indicate control of the hot tub was useless since the controller is actually mounted to a kitchen cabinet & not the same as shown in the video. The property Mngmt Co had no idea where it was located - finally found it on my own. The door alarm button to exit and re-enter was also a real annoyance as others have mentioned. You will also need to bring you own bath soap and shampoo - the soap provided was about the size of 2 postage stamps and 1/8” thick; not usable for bathing. Sorry for less than positive review - but will not be back.

Bad experience with AMI Locals

Please read this! We used AMI for our vacation and will NEVER use them again. The story is to long to post but to be short and to the point these are some of the details. We checked in to the home and the pool was dirty and non functioning. We called and the response was oh yeah that was mentioned in the inspection and a pool professional will be out in Tuesday ( this was Saturday and if they noted this why did they not call us, instead we had to call them). We then ask to speak to a manager who implies we were lying because the pool was CRYSTAL clear in their picture's. So we went to the beach and tried to deal with it. Sunday was nice and after two hours of my husband cleaning the pool we did swim that day. Monday we were woke up by loud construction noise and people on the property moving items and leaving tools in the yard at lunch time . We felt violated as they were in the property we were staying at and we could not swim or even go outside as they were 4 feet away from the pool. We called and called and finally got a manger to look into it. After all day we finally got into another home at 630. We ask if we could get a call back from a manger. The manager that helped us now is not even calling us back? We ask for some compensation as we missed out on at least two days of our vacation that we had paid for a heated working pool. We also had to make several calls to even get a response. No response was even given until Thursday when they called to say we should have no issues with the un signed gift cards that they gave us. We tried using them and no local stores would accept. We went about trying to finish our vacation when they called Friday and ask is to stop by with gift certificates at the Chamber of Commerce. We did not as of this point we should not have to work so hard for gift certificates on our last day on the island . They did give us one gift card for 100 that we did use. They tried to say they did their best🤷‍♀️ I replied forget the compensation we could not even get a call back so I disagree. This was terrible customer service. We have been to the island several years and never had an issue like this.

Great location!

Our family had a great time at the property and loved the proximity to the beach and shops that we frequent. Morning kayak paddles and noon swims worked well for a wide range of age groups and we all had a great time.

Lovely home and pool!!

Lovely home with a nice big pool and a beautiful backyard! They have kayaks, bikes, pool and fishing supplies! Pool alarms were quite annoying because you had to hit the button going outside and inside but I know they are needed for safety.. Lots of privacy from side neighbors which was so nice! We loved having a dock to launch our own kayak. The hot tub was great too! Great house for smaller families. Nice location too! We really enjoyed our stay.

Can’t wait to go back!!!

The house was wonderful. The location was great because we could walk to the beach, shops, and restaurants. Being on the canal with the open view was so relaxing. Kids went kayaking and fishing. The pool and hot tub were a hit. Loved how sunny the backyard was. Also liked being at the end of a cul-de-sac. We would stay here again in a heartbeat! Hopefully soon!

Great Location and Very Relaxing

We stayed at this house for three weeks and, due to COVID, we wanted to have space to enjoy ourselves without crowds. This house was great -- we particularly enjoyed the pool, hot tub and easy kayaking. The house itself is nice but the real pleasure for us was the lanai and backyard. The beach is a couple block walk so it might be a bit too long for small children. The house location is near the end of the street and it was fairly quiet (there is a bit of construction).

Nice property, some issues

We had a wonderful weeklong stay in this house. The pool, hot tub, deck and lanai's are lovely. Kitchen and bathrooms could use some updating but they are adequate. We love the location; the canal is secluded, the street has no side streets off of it so not much traffic, and it is close to Pine Avenue and some of our favorite restaurants. We did have a few issues. There was construction going on in the house directly across the canal (as of April 2019), and it was quite loud at times. This wasn't a problem when we weren't there and on the weekend days, but during the week they worked some days until 7pm. Also, for families it is important to note that one of the bedrooms is detached from the rest of the home, and the other two bedrooms are down a main hallway in the main section of the home. Lastly, we found a number of dead cockroaches on the lanai's about halfway through the week. We think maybe the area was sprayed recently as they were all dead/dying, but still not exactly what we wanted to see while on vacation. I will say that the rental company is very responsive to issues - even on Easter Sunday they came to our house to fix an issue with the door lock. Overall, we would consider staying here again as long as the construction is no longer going on across the canal.

Perfect house for our family vacation

We loved our stay here - the house was perfect with everything we needed for a weeks vacation -the canal was awesome for fishing and the bikes and kayaks were great to have.

Perfect location, all amenities provided

Canal Place is located on one of the most desirable streets on the island. Older, ground floor home which we prefer because we like walking right out to pool and patio w/o steps. Includes bikes which is great and also two kayaks - so fun and great bonus. The interior is somewhat dated or if you prefer retains some "old Florida" charm. It is clean and comfy with good beds. Well stocked kitchen has everything you might need (except a good sharp knife).

Great place to stay !

we all enjoyed canal place . The pictures really don't show how nice it is. very quiet and peaceful place . we enjoyed Jerald the big bird that came by to visit often . The home has 2 dual kayaks that were enjoyed a lot and it has 2 fishing poles but no hooks , so take some . Everyone loved the shuffleboard ! great place . Brenda P

Perfect for us

My husband and I spent Spring Break 2017 at this home with 5 college sophomores and loved it. The kids had their own bedrooms and screen porch and we enjoyed going to the beach, hot tubbing, swimming in the pool and paddling the kayaks around the canals. A very relaxing week for all of us!! The house has 4 brand new bikes and new patio furniture on the main porch.
