I think we may be the first people to rent this lovely place, so I’m going to write in some detail about it–even though that may mean more people will discover it and limit my future rentals!First, I must say you might wonder a bit as you turn down Hubbard Lane– it’s a dirt road (well maintained) and there’s a property at the start of the road with some cars in the yard that need work. But just keep going aways, turn left and then you will emerge from the trees into the magic of this place! Lake, Lake, Lake! There is a wrap-around porch, with super comfy chairs to sit, sip and look out at the lake, which we did both evenings, and where we saw soo many stars! Inside is the most beautiful space, with wood all around (the host told us much of it milled from trees from the property) and windows that keep the lake in view, no matter what room you are in. It was so quiet, except for the occasional loon and boat. We decided to try out two rooms, so stayed upstairs the first night and downstairs in the King bed the second night. Both super comfy and with their own fully equipped bathroom. Outside of the upstairs room is an open space with a big chair- thought it would be perfect for young ones playing games on the floor, or lying around reading. We loved that there were so many different places to be in the house, so if someone wanted a little quiet/alone time, they could have it, while the rest of you hang out watching a movie or talking. Two living room spaces, really cozy and with easy access to the kitchen. The Kitchen! Had everything we needed (including 4 ways to make coffee!) and I’m excited to come back with friends, so we can cook a big meal together and eat on the beautiful, big farm table– again, with a view of the lake from every seat. This house was a perfect respite for us and would be wonderful for a family with kids: we are thinking of inviting my friend and his young ones next time. It was too cool outside to swim, but the lake was clear and people were out on kayaks, so it seems great for boats both fast and slow. Our host told us about a couple great food places- and we had the BEST ice cream at Fielder’s Choice, about a 10 minute drive away, and the grocery store was about 7 minutes away and had really everything you could want. There wasn’t a thing we needed that our host hadn’t thought of and we felt so welcomed and also totally were left to our private space. We will be back!
