Visit Cockermouth, 9 miles away, to shop, dine out and see the birthplace of poet William Wordsworth. Venture 19.5 miles to Keswick to stroll along the shores of Derwentwater, where you can take a cruise on the lake or hire your own boat to explore at your leisure. Tranquil Bassenthwaite Lake, with its plethora of wildlife, is just 13 miles from your base.
