After seeing all the 10/10 reviews of this property I felt positive that we had made the right choice while visiting the White Sulphur Springs area. I think we may have been some of the first guests of the season so some spring cleaning may be badly needed. The house smelled very musty and not the best for those with allergies. There was a spider web in a corner, the air vents in the upstairs bedroom are in need of a cleaning. Coffee Kueregs have a filter that need to be changed, furniture in the living room had multiple stains on it needing to be replaced. We were very disappointed and wished we would have stayed at the Greenbrier Resort instead.

Cozy Christmas
The first thing that is noticeable is the huge front porch. We would enjoy coming back just to sit on that porch in warmer weather. The house is quaint and relaxing to spend time in. The beds are comfortable and everyone slept well. It was nice having a bathroom upstairs as well as downstairs. When we are back in the area we would definitely stay here again!

The house was perfect for our weekend trip to The Greenbrier. It was beautifully decorated. The beds were comfortable and the bedding was very nice. Plenty of pillows.

Convenient Location and Fenced Yard
We had a lovely stay at this charming house. The location was perfect, walking distance to the main drag and yet right next to a pretty walking trail. Comfortable for a night of family tv and nice kitchen appliances! Thank you!

Family Celebration
We were in town to celebrate my parents’ 50tj wedding anniversary. Your cottage is beautiful! We loved it down to every detail. It is beautifully appointed, was very clean, good communication - couldn’t ask for more. Would definitely stay again!

Great place, quiet neighborhood and so close to the Greenbrier and downtown area. The outside porch was delightful in the evening - large yard. Very comfortable house for 4 Ladies and really liked having 2 1/2 bathrooms.

Relaxing retreat needled in White Sulfur Springs
We enjoyed our stay at this vintage home . The beds were very comfy and the home felt like a home away from home. The large front porch was perfect for morning coffee. Enjoyed the fish hatchery at the doorstep as I got to catch up with our 24 year old son as we walked the grounds . Quiet neighborhood in walking distance to town. We attended the WV state fair and Lewisburg for the weekend was an easy drive . Host provided everything you would need for short or long stays. Will definitely book again in the future .

The house is in a phenomenal location with easy access to shops, restaurants, and The Greenbrier! There were plenty of linens, cookware, utensils, and space to enjoy. The air conditioning was wonderful and easily cooled the home to our liking. There is plenty of parking and access to the fish hatchery and nearby trails. The overall rating is 3/5 for two reasons: the first is communication with the host. Immediately after booking, Denise was very responsive, but once we were past the cancellation window we never heard from her again. Four messages/questions went unanswered. The second reason is that the description and picture of the pergola isn't accurate. The pergola/patio is overgrown, does not have any seating, and there is no firepit. It is completely unusable. There were also one broken kitchen cabinet that wasn't disclosed. Overall, it was a great home for our needs, but it needs some attention.

Enjoyable stay
Very enjoyable stay and just down the road from Greenbrier Resort. Cute and welcoming house in a nice neighborhood. A couple friends friends were coming in from other states for a wedding and wanted a place where we could relax and enjoy each others company. Short walk to downtown white sulphur springs.

Sweet Farmhouse in White Sulpher Springs
What a beautiful home in such a beautiful state. Our family's first (and hopefully not last trip) to West Virginia was wonderful. This house had so many amenities, a well stocked kitchen, next to a beautiful trail, a huge yard, and we even got to meet Denise, our host. Thank you for making us feel right at home. One of our favorites was playing board games on the front porch. The Greenbriar is just down the street and lots of things to do there too!

Charming cottage in a perfect location!
We loved Briar Gate Cottage! The quaint decor perfectly fit the southern charm of White Sulphur Springs and the beautiful Greenbrier Resort. The quiet neighborhood and wonderful beds insured everyone slept well and the amenities provided everything we needed for a terrific visit. Our friendly host Denise was easily accessible and responsive to any inquiries, and was genuinely interested in our comfort and enjoyment of her property.

Great Home in White Sulphur Springs
We are two senior couples. We really enjoyed our short stay at this property. Nice location and really pretty house. The property is located near a fish hatchery with a nice trail. Also, we could walk to town to a great BBQ place. We would definitely stay there again!

Charming home
This house is so cozy and charming. The beds are so comfy. The location couldn’t be better. Fenced yard for the dog as well as a walking trail adjacent to the property. Just be sure to bring k-cups for the Keurig if you’re a coffee drinker. We overlooked that feature when booking.

Trip to Greenbrier for Work
The property was clean and as advertised. Cute cottage in a quiet location with a nice walking/jogging trail next door. Check in was simple, I would definitely recommend staying here and plan to book it again in the future.

Nice but abused house.
Fridge dirty, ice maker not working. Lightbulbs missing in lamps, no cable TV. The gazebo area would have been nice to use but was in terrible condition. Front porch furniture needed cleaning, unable to use.

Absolutely loved this house!
We loved the house so much. It was probably the cleanest place I have ever stayed. The porch was amazing and the limelight hydrangeas were gorgeous! The only complaint I would have is the pergola area was not maintained. It was overgrown and dirty and wasn't useable. Other than that we loved this charming house.

Such a great property - Amazing location
We LOVED staying at BrierGate cottage! My favorite part is that it is literally next door to a National Fish Hatchery with a great walking trail, a beautiful creek, and SO MUCH wildlife. We saw deer, ducks, ducklings, ground hogs, herons, birds of all colors and more bunnies than we could count. The house has a great fenced in yard that our small dogs LOVED. There was virtually NO traffic. We rode our bikes to town and to the Greenbrier Resort multiple times. The restaurant options in Lewisburg were fantastic. We received an awesome gift basket from Village Wine shop and then went by ourselves and fell in love. There is NOTHING to not love about this property. We hope to be back over and over…..

What a wonderful cottage with a great location!!! Quiet street, great walking trail around fish hatchery and the best front porch!!!! We spent a lot of time relaxing on the beautiful front porch. Our Sheltie especially loved the porch and the huge fenced yard was perfect!! We enjoyed watching a pair of sparrows take care of their four new babies located in the fern plant to the right of the front door. Also saw deer and rabbits. The only coffee pot that was available was a keurig. We had brought coffee to brew and were unable to. Totally enjoyed our stay here. Window treatments are amazing!!!!

Race day Weekend stay
The place was clean and well set up. It is at the end of the street and backs up to a fish hatchery which provides even more privacy. The yard is huge and the kids liked playing in it while we rested from the race. Don’t forget your toiletries as they are limited, but it wasn’t an issue for our stay. Thanks for a great weekend in the mountains!

Very cute home and wonderful location
The house is absolutely adorable. Very clean and well stocked. Felt very comfortable and at home. We had a few very minor issues but Denise was very available to handle. We loved the location! I am a runner and there was a 1 mile beautiful paved walking trail right next to the property!! And a hiking trail. So it was perfect! Property is just a mile from the Greenbriar and a block or 2 away from a couple good local restaurants.

Favorite rental ever!
We loved this home. We arrived the day after Christmas and the home was decked out in beautiful holiday lights. The interior was decorated too not just for the holidays but also with tasteful furnishings and a beautiful custom table that we loved. The beds were the most comfortable of any rental ever, the fireplace was lovely, and the yard was large and loved by our dog. The Greenbrier was super close and we rode horses, went on the Ariel adventure course, and shopped in a nearby town. This is a very small town and the house is exceptionally warm and welcoming.

We enjoyed our stay for the weekend at this enchanted cottage. Wonderful hostess. The VRBO messaging and check in coordination is pretty poor! Loved the property and the hostess but not happy with VRBO service and support.

Great place
A charming house in a great area. We had a dog with us and the location and the huge fenced yard was perfect. There were a couple of glitches early on but Denise replied promptly and all was well. We ate all meals at the house, including a way too big Thanksgiving dinner and sat and talked and had a great time. We visited the Greenbriar and took the Bunker tour, which we loved, and took the Greenbriar River Trail which was great. We visited the Barnwood Living store and met Mark Bowe! Another highlight for us as we love the show. Cute store too. We would love to come back and enjoy the area more.

Couples trip to White Sulphur Springs WV
This house was perfect for our visit to WHite Sulphur Springs and offered us everything we needed for a relaxed and enjoyable visit. AMAZING STAY - BEAUTIFUL HOME
We had an amazing stay at this beautiful home. Everything was as described, and extremely clean and beautiful. What we were surprised to see was how quiet and quaint the area was. This house is at the end of the street next to a walking park and it was so peaceful. We look forward to booking again.

Had a great stay. Especially recommend if the Greenbrier is full.
I was in town for a conference at the Greenbrier but it was fully booked. Thank goodness for this property. It was only about a mile away and it was much closer than any hotels, which are 15-20 mins away. Plus, it's such a lovely house! I stayed with a work colleague (3 BRs) and we both loved the space and comfort of the house. The kitchen with the big table was great and we both enjoyed the covered front porch for enjoying our coffee in the morning. I'll stay again the next time I visit.

We had such a relaxing time at this adorable cottage! There was plenty of space and all of the necessary amenities were available to us. We enjoyed wandering down to the creek and feeding the fish and the location to the greenbrier was perfect as our daughter was a ball girl for a tennis event there. Perfect location and a perfect stay!

I would buy this house and change nothing - Perfect
Location is great - peacefully located at the end of a very quiet street and views across the newly constructed wetland - we spent plenty of time on the fantastic veranda (porch) watching the wildlife with a coffee. So quiet it was a dream. The house is a perfect layout for families - very traditional but then with all the modern conveniences. We all decided we could live here happily. There are a lot of activities in the local area and all only a short drive away.
