"What a beautiful location! Lovely hotel in a perfect spot. The staff were all so freindly and helpful, especially the extremely polite dark haired gentleman at the bar when we arrived. He took the trouble to show me to the room and explained everything. The breakfast was also very good, great choice and lovely to sit with a view of the Abbey. Would love to stay here again and would highly recommend."

"The grounds are stunning with so much potential but it feels very much a work in progress. We used paddle boards on the lake, which was fab but an additional charge on top of a very expensive room. The sauna wasn’t quite up to heat, we stoked the wood burning hot tub for a dip, tried the lake to cool off and the cold plunge was unfortunately empty. The room was nice and clean. I booked the junior suite but ended up getting a suite. It didn’t feel any more special than a deluxe room elsewhere...

"The hotel is well situated in the high street. There is parking (albeit limited). Staff on arrival was pleasant but I didn’t see anyone after that. Old building so floors ( including stairs) were uneven and there was no lift. Not a problem for me but I would imagine not everyone could get upstairs. I was in room 19, top of building. No air con but there was a fan in the room. I was on my own but the room was a bit of a tight fit if a couple were in there. Bed linen and towels very clean....

"Room was very spacious as was the ensuite. However we spent the first 20 minutes killing small moths/fruit flies (unsure what they were exactly). They were everywhere. Didnt mention to management. Breakfast - we felt a bit pressured to decide on the spot and from a one page menu tacked to the wall, what we wanted for a cooked breakfast. Could a menu be placed on the tables? Then the staff (housecleaners?) walked through the dinning area to get to the staff room, then came out to make a coffee....

"There were some lovely touches about the general accommodation such as pretty chandeliers, nice artwork and grand mirrors. We were in room 6 which was advertised as lacking natural light, this was fine, but the decor was so dark and such a dull lightbulb, it made the room feel so dingy. There was no plug point near the mirror, so doing hair was difficult. On the plus side the bed was very comfortable and there was a lovely big fan in the room to help combat the heat. "The staff were helpful and friendly, the room was clean and very well appointed, parking was in a car park right outside the hotel so very easy, breakfast was delicious and well cooked. We loved it all so much that we will be going back some time next year. "

"Lovely Hotel at the top of Rye close to the church and the castle. Staff were friendly and helpful the breakfast was excellent with a large choice of items from continental and cooked food avaliiable plus hot drinks or juices.Our room was clean and comfortable perfect for our long weekend stay. I would highly recommend this Hotel."
