Slice of heaven cabin

Relax away from the bustle and busyness of the city and enjoy a break in a quiet rural environment surrounded by native bush and be lulled by the nearby river and bird song. Enjoy the smell of timber within our architecturally designed cottage with high wooden ceilings, wood paneled walls, wooden stairs and kitchen and hand crafted furniture.

Recharge with a book or a walk on our property or on nearby bushwalks, or explore all that Tauranga and the Western Bay of Plenty has to offer. Bethlehem Town Centre is 15 minutes away, Omokoroa, 15 minutes, Katikati 25 minutes, Tauranga 25 minutes and Mt Maunganui with its world famous beach is a 30 minute drive away.

Fully self-contained cottage with mezzanine sleeping loft with double bed, full kitchen with oven, gas hob and fridge, bathroom with shower and enjoy a loo with a view. A pullout sofa bed in the lounge creates a double bed, dining facility for up to four, a pellet fire for winter and WIFI.

Please note there is no mobile phone reception at the cottage.

Please also note that stair access to the mezzanine is steep ā€“ itā€™s an alternating tread so ones gait is the same as a normal stair but it can catch people by surprise ā€“ the pullout sofa bed in the lounge is available for those who are unable to access the stairs.

We try and be as self- sufficient and sustainable as possible and run our slice of heaven along organic lines, considering the impact our actions have upon the environment. Hence you will find we use environmentally and people safe products for cleaning in the cottage (and our home), and we try to buy Fair Trade products that support those who live in third world nations. We donā€™t get it right all the time ā€“ we are learning as we go and enjoy talking with others about their journey towards a similar lifestyle. Our cottage is smoke, vaping and drug free.

Ideal as a getaway for a couple, it does have a pullout sofa double bed so while two is comfortable, four would experience tiny home living.

Surrounded by farmland with views of native bush and in close proximity to a stream, there are multiple farm animals on surrounding properties visible from the drive: cows, sheep, goats, alpacas. Some distant animal noises at night can be expected (mooing etc) .

Relaxing/recovering post-op. Wonderful little house, comfy bed, has everything you need. We really appreciated the pellet burner fireplace too! Nice calm location but not too out of the way either. Thank you!

Really enjoyed our stay here. We were a group of 3 but the cabin was still spacious. Very warm and cozy during cold-times. The cabin was so peaceful and quaint which was very needed especially as we lived in such a busy city. Overall, it had everything we needed the owners were very accomodating and kind from check-in to check out. Will return again for a future trip!🧡

Beautiful property but no photos of stairs, it did say that the stairs were narrow but we thought nothing like that. Super hot in the summer but that is hard to fix. Over all good stay just minor things that canā€™t be helped like the drive way

We had a nice stay in Whakamarama. The cottage was a lovely hideaway and it was great location to visit the sights in the Bay of Plenty. The house had everything you could need, the wifi was good and we had no problems with connectivity. I would recommend that visitors bring slippers for the winter as the fire warms up the house brilliantly but the floors are cool. We found the mattress on the bed very uncomfortable and the show pressure was very low. With these upgraded the house would be perfect.

Very snug warm settings and aesthetic. The fireplace was incredible and overall very relaxing and welcoming. It would have been nice to know that there was no phone coverage there but aside from that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

A beautiful cottage which we thoroughly enjoyed relaxing in. It was very stormy weather during our stay, but it was a great place to sit in front of the fire, read a book and enjoy the view of Bush from the windows. We will definitely return. Thank you for your friendly hospitality.

It really is a slice of heaven! Pictures online donā€™t do it justice! Amazing little cottage to escape from crazy day to day life! Close to Tauranga but far enough out to feel secluded! We went for our anniversary and it was the perfect way to celebrate! Would 100% go back again! Thank you for letting us share a piece of your beautiful property

Beautiful little cabin, was the perfect place for a long weekend away - fireplace kept us warm and lots of places to explore nearby for day trips. Photos do not do it justice, very clean and tidy, excellent fully equipt kitchen and plenty of room. Hope to be back again soon, didn't want to leave - thanks for having us!

This is a wonderful place to base yourself to explore the Kaimais, Tauranga, Western Bay and beyond. We found Liz and Mikeā€™s place to be the epitome of care, comfort, coziness and calm. What a perfectly situated home to base ourselves for our daily tramps or beach visits. We so enjoyed not having to drive very far to find a wealth of culture, tramping and nature. Our hosts were extremely responsive to any questions or needs we had. We are so happy we decided to base our two week stay at this cottage. We truly felt we started and ended each day as if we were home. We highly recommend visiting this true Slice of Heaven.
