The Dutchess - Glorious 1909 Dutch Barge on Doyly Carte Island

You'll love this unique and romantic escape on a private island. Exquisitely styled and lovingly detailed, you will be cocooned in style on this stunning, mostly renovated Dutch Barge. Stay in with a bottle of champagne, or walk to Doyly's Cafe on Doyly Carte Island, 2 fabulous pubs and the restaurants on Weybridge High Street.

*Doyly Carte Island: access on the island is via the pathways provided. At no time should visitors enter the main house or its front or rear garden.*

ABOUT THE DUTCHESS
Built in 1909 from steel, The Dutchess is a Luxe Motor 2860 Dutch Barge, 28.63m in length. She travelled to the UK from The Netherlands to retire on the River Thames after many years as a working boat.

By staying with The Dutchess you are helping to continue her renovation and maintenance, keeping this lovely old lady beautiful for many years to come. Thank you!

The Dutchess is a home, not your regular rental property. You will find some personal effects, foodstuffs, drinks etc. on board. Please be respectful and treat all property with care and consideration for the owner.

She is being thoughtfully refurbished but is not yet completely finished. Some finishing touches are still required; we trust these will not detract from your enjoyment during your stay.

THE SPACE
There are 3 areas on The Dutchess:
1. Large main downstairs: living area, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom (1 king bed). Large and spacious; guests have sole access to this area.
2. Upstairs wheelhouse / communal area: dining table and seating area with bi-fold doors overlooking the roof and river.
3. Bedsit / rear cabin (self-contained): generally locked and unavailable. The rear cabin may be occupied by the owner/caretaker, with occasional use of the communal area. If you would like the boat entirely to yourself, please message us about the extra charge.

MANAGEMENT FEE
The Dutchess relies on diesel for heating and hot water. Our winter management fee helps with the extra diesel costs and a starter kit of logs for the fire. We do not charge a management fee during summer.

PLEASE NOTE
- Adults only, sleeping a maximum of 2. Strictly no children on the vessel.
- Absolutely no parties or loud activities. Our neighbours live on the island and no antisocial behaviour will be tolerated; guests will be asked to leave immediately without a refund.
- Absolutely no smoking or vaping on or near the boat.
- For your safety, there is no access to the roof area outside the bi-fold doors (decking is being constructed) or to the waterside of the ship. Access to the deck or walkways (gunwales) is at your own risk. The river runs fast below the surface; do not fall in.

DOYLY CARTE ISLAND SUMMER FESTIVAL
Usually held in July. You will need tickets for each night's events via TicketSource (doylycarteislandserviceslimited). If you would like us to obtain tickets for you, there will be an additional charge; please message us to confirm availability.
