"Check in couldn't have been easier. The kitchen was well equipped with basic spices, pots and pans, coffee, tea and appliances. Smooth Wi-Fi access. The house was clean, the bedding and towels were clean and my husband with a bad back found the mattresses comfortable.I will say that we ended up buying gallon jugs of water to drink because we found the tap water to be too metallic tasting. "We stayed this past week with our two dogs, and it was a wonderful family vacation. We stayed in the Blacksmith Cottage, which was fully-furnished with everything we needed. The kitchen was clean and well-stocked with pots and pans, and the oven and fridge were great to have. The bathroom was clean and comfortable. "It was a nice get away for our wedding anniversary. We were able to bring our dogs and use the private strip of beach a couple of cottages away. This was a great quiet trip. The only thing that could have been better is the AC in the cottage. A window unit is provided but with 90 temps it couldn’t keep up."

"Property manager canceled my stay with no notice. I had already driven a great distance to be there. Took several days for them to issue the refund despite the fact that they canceled the reservation same day. Actually they told me I had to cancel the reservation on my end. I assume this was so they would still get the money from the reservation, but I called to cancel it and explain the situation. Long story short don’t book here."

"What a unique relaxing stay enjoying birding, kayaking, stargazing, sunsets off the bridge and watching the kids capture crabs galore. We loved the quirky cottage with its amazing large wrap around window views. Donna and Mike are caring hosts, offering plenty of tips on the area when asked. The island is conveniently located close to Yorktown and not far from Jamestown and Colonial Williamsburg. The kids also enjoyed both Yorktown and Jamestown beaches during the stay. "

"This cottage is exactly how it is described. It was very clean! The host was so nice and so accommodating. She assured us that we could walk all over the property and I certainly did. There were deck chairs on the dock and it was just so peaceful. We definitely want to come back."
