Location, Convenience and Charm by Capitol Hill FREE Parking Included

Location, Location, Location! 2 blocks from Union Station, metro, and just 3 blocks to the Capitol & National Mall. Close-in Capitol Hill neighborhood with restaurants, museums, coffee shops, bars, Whole Foods, Giant supermarket, H St streetcar line and tourist attractions a few steps away. Property is a charming newly furnished one bedroom English basement with a queen-size bed in the BR; queen-size sleep sofa in the living room, dining area with table and 4 chairs; TV with dvd player, & wifi. Full disclosure: the WIFI is ok, but may not be strong enough to support streaming. Currently there is no cable TV but there is a DVD player.
Fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, 4-slice toaster, coffee-maker, wine opener & many glasses.
Bathroom, hair-dryer, fully air conditioned, stocked with essentials for your comfort.
1 Parking pass provided for street parking.

There are narrow stairs down into apartment, please be careful with heavy luggage or mobility issues. Owner lives in unit above. Other things to note-hot water heater cannot support long showers for 4 people. Kindly keep showers moderate in length if there are 4 of you.

First, we had this trip planned well before the government shutdown, so we were a little disappointed in the Smithsonian being closed-having said that, we super enjoyed our stay in DC-really interesting, unique, quirky atmosphere with super (even shockingly) friendly people. Like it says this is a really great location- very clean and nice, appreciated being stocked with coffee and a welcoming bottle of wine! Also a nice neighborhood with easy walking distance to some nice restaurants and a nice little store-close to a bus stop,and close to Union station. (recommend getting a Metro Pass first thing) Here would be my suggestions- while the temperature was generally comfortable in the unit, being from SW Florida, we did attempt to activate the space heaters, but they would trip a breaker, however the box was fortunately right in the room-Not sure if this would be sufficient in colder temps. Also as it is a basement unit, you need to be adequately ambulatory to navigate the stairs- just a few, no problem for us. The host was very prompt with returning correspondence, with a minor issue that was quickly resolved. All in all we would like to visit DC again ( with the government open), and would stay there again!

The location is great. The unit itself is quaint at first glance, but is in need of TLC, deep cleaning and a coat of paint. It is a basement apartment in a very old building with an entrance with deteriorating stairs.

Wonderful Stay

This was the perfect location for my friend and I to stay for a long weekend. It is a very short walk to union station but we never even used public transportation, it was so close to everything we walked! The accommodation itself was exactly as listed, and it was clean and air conditioned. The host has an amazing response time before and during our stay for any questions we had. 100% would stay here again when visiting DC. The only thing that was a little confusing that did get cleared up quickly was where to park. The parking pass is for the zone right outside the apartment, which happens to be zone 6 and you are able to park between the green signs the whole time you are there even though they say 2 hours parking only. The pass let's you stay there for the duration of the dates listed on it. Overall, a fantastic experience!

Great Stay in DC

The location is less than a mile from the capital and very cozy. Eric and Jonathan were very accomdating and made us feel at home. I would highly recommend a stay here if you are wanting to explore Capital Hill.

Fabulous stay!

Our family of 3 really enjoyed this fabulously-located unit. It was steps to Union Station, Capitol Hill, and great restaurants. Check in and check out was smooth, communication excellent. I would definitely stay there again!

Great choice for our stay!

My first time in DC. This was great lodging for us. Spacious for our needs and had lots of extras like condiments and toiletries. The hosts were very friendly and attentive to any questions we had. We chose to walk to all of our destinations, however, Union Station is close for those perferring transport. There were places to eat and grocery stores very close. And parking close by was much easier than I expected.After long days with lots of walking, it was a very comfortable place to come back to and relax. The neighborhood is beautiful with the well kept row houses, large trees and landscape.I do appreciate that other reviews reminded me of the basement level and the steps being a little more difficult to maneuver. It worked fine for us but may be difficult for those with more limited mobility.I definitely recommend and feel it was a great, affordable option.

Great spot close to downtown DC

This was a great place to stay for a visit to DC! Johnathan, the host, was very friendly and helpful.The Metro is a short 5 minute walk, there is a wonderful coffee shop/grocery store directly across the street, and several restaurants nearby. The surrounding neighborhood is lovely and very walkable at all hours.Much better than staying at a hotel outside of town and commuting into the city!

Excellent VRBO!!

This was one of the best VRBO rentals I've used. The apartment was well stocked, comfortable and clean. I loved it! Jonathan is a responsive, caring host - he was so easy to deal with and very helpful. The location of this VRBO is perfect. So close to Union Station and bus lines. Walking distance to the National Mall. Lots of great local places to eat, a Whole Foods nearby. Loved it all the way around. Thanks Jonathan!!!

Anniversary Getaway

Property was accurate per review. Excellent communication with Management /Host. Easy access getting into apartment; slowly, carefully down steps to entrance, manageable. Cooked food, EVERYTHING was clean in kitchen, well stocked too; eat-in/living space roomy, clean. Did have issues with TV accessing reg. channels. Bedroom good size, mattress very comfortable. We do recommend new rug or carpet in BR. In bathroom a different rug so door will open & close easier. Good water pressure. One more suggestion, check for fruit flies/nats in BR/ Bathroom before guests arrive. Only saw them upon arrival. Got rid of them, never came back.Loved the neighborhood, cute coffee cafe (Ebenezer’s) 1 block away, 10 min walk to metro / Amtrak Union Station and more.We had a memorable, happy Anniversary getaway. Will definitely be back!!

Fantastic Location

My daughter and I used this property for a 9 day stay to sightsee around DC. We could not have asked for a better location. Most days we walked everywhere we went but with Union Station 2 blocks away we were able to hop on the Metro too. The apartment was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The host was friendly and great to work with. Would definitely stay here again!

Great stay!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. It was very clean, super close to any and all things we needed, and was nice and quiet. Parking is a little funky. I recommend looking up the DC parking zones so that you have an understanding of how the parking pass works. We would definitely stay here again.

Great Location, Accomodation fair

One has to descend a spiral broken set of steps to a dungeon like setting; a dehydrated Bat greeted us upon entry. The kitchen has a bizarre refrigerator door that opens toward you in a cramped kitchen, the bed is good, the chest of drawers have broken drawers, tub rusted in several spots. Quick hot water. Bookshelf in the den ready to collapse. Convenient cafe/store on the block and easy access to the Metro. One may have a lot of issues with accommodation, if expecting hotel like accommodation, but can’t beat the location.

Very helpful host close to the Capitol

The apartment is pretty much exactly as it is described. The neighborhood is safe and walk able. The parking permit was a big plus.The host was fantastic .The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was because it is a basement apartment. I knew this, but I was hoping it wouldn't feel like a basement apartment. It does. If you are sensitive to low light and a slight dampness this will bother you. However, for its price, the neighborhood and the host who was fantastic it is a great stay.wonderful I definitely recommend.
