Sketchy Bait and switch... Don't risk it. This will not be the rental you get.
Sketchy bait and switch. The photos posted online and listed amenities really attracted us to this particular rental... My wife and I were travelling 6 hours to spend a few days on a mini vacation. After being on the road for 5 hours, the host sent a message saying they made a mistake and we were "upgraded" to a different rental that apparently had the same amenities. We were given no choice... no options. Just "oh rental A that you booked is not available so go to rental B." I never agreed because this was a huge red flag. But because it was already so late, what could we do? We had no choice (which I'm sure was their plan).
Anyway.. we get to the "upgraded" rental and it is some sketchy apartment building. We get in the elevator to go see the room and the elevator is all busted up and the whole back wall is covered in a blanket... yes... a blanket. So that's already a terrible sign.
We arrived on the 5th floor where our room is and are immediately hit with the smell of weed. It was so strong it lingered throughout the whole hallway. We make it to our room door and the door looks like it had been pried open several times with a crow bar. We make it inside and while it has the same furniture as the other rental, it is missing two KEY amenities that we would have got in the original booking. There was no washer/dryer in the unit which the original booking had. When I asked him, he said for us to use the washer and dryer that is in the apartments hallway... which was shared by the entire apartment complex. No thanks, that is NOT the same as a private in unit washer/dryer. We were really counting on having the washer and dryer because we wanted to travel light and therefore did not pack much. We ended up having to wash what clothes we could in the bathtub and hang dry them. There was no air conditioning either (you guessed it, the original booking listed AC) so the room was always toasty during the day. We had to wait until night time to open the windows and pray for a breeze. The entire apartment smelled of weed. This whole ordeal stressed us out so much that we wanted to spend as little time in this janky apartment as we could. We would just shower and leave. While Ahmed was always quick to communicate, the entire experience was sketchy and horrible. We were stressed the entire time and being so far from home we knew we had no choice. He never tried to make it right, instead he only made excuses to cover his mistake. Be careful.
