Amazing Experience

Mid Island Stopover
We chose Tawhiri cottage as a great stopping point on our way to Wellington from Tauranga. From the very beginning the communication from our host, Ross, was outstanding and he was so friendly and welcoming. The accomodation itself was clean and the kitchen was extremely well equipped with everything we needed. Best of all though, was the breathtaking uninterrupted view of Mt Ruapehu from the lounge and back deck!

Fantastic place to stay!
We all really enjoyed our stay in a lovely house with beautiful views of the mountains. There was lots of room for us all, plenty of hot water, and the beds were very comfy. Thanks Ross! See you next time

Great Property

Lovely House
Ross was very helpful and was so responsive to all of our messages (both prior to and during our stay) providing us with helpful information for our arrival, checkin and stay. The flat has lots of brochures as well to find cool nearby events. The beds were very comfortable; and the place was clean. Highly recommended property and keen to pursue further bookings!! Five star rating!

Overnight stay
Just stayed for one night on way to Wellington, accommodation was very comfortable and perfect location. Heat pump made the whole place nice and warm and the view of the mountain was awesome!

Convenient and close
If you’re staying in Waiouru it’s probably something to do with the Army base or Museum and this place is really convenient and close. Great view of Mt Ruapehu. Everything was fine, warm enough in late Summer with the heat pump. Ample off street parking. Main trunk line and SH46 are quite close by but not noisy enough to be an issue.

Relaxing overnight stay
The living areas were spacious enough for us to relax together while doing our own thing. The property was easily accessible, with comfortable furniture and spacious bathroom that our elderly folk appreciated. Trains do run past the property, in case noise and rattling is an issue for your group. We didn't really notice - we're used to the noise and rattling of strong winds in Wellington. Ross was a great host. He was very welcoming and was prompt to respond to our questions. We would stay here again if it's available.

Home away from home ,plenty of room ,cosey,has all the little things you don't notice until you need
Great place to stay ,within a short distance from a couple bubbly towns .museum well worth a visit with real nice caff.homley with extras ,lux ,dish washer and washer /dryer.cosey bed and great water pressure in shower .many thanks Ross 😊

Nice short stay.
Spent a night here in a nice modern 3 bedroom. Great place to stop off with a four square and food places close by. Will happily stay here again. However be aware that it can be a little noisey as big trucks go past the front gate regularly and freight trains pass by every so often, this didnt worry us though just something to be aware of if you dont like noise.

Beautiful, clean and cozy
The property was beautiful and well kept. It was extremely clean, warm and cozy. It was close to restaurants and shops. We had an amazing stay. Would definitely recommend.

Home away from home in Waiouru
Three clean very comfortable bedrooms. Modern kitchen and bathroom. Cosy sitting room with gas fire and heat pump. Has an amazing view of the mountain and in walking distance to the shops. The owner Ross is friendly and helpful.

Amazing place i ever stayed
This is the best place to stay with beautifully appointed room in a great location. The place was very clean, modern, had everything we needed to feel at home, The Beds, Kitchen, Heaters and bathroom and shower was excellent. The owner is a very friendly with a gentle character of hospitality. Thanks Ross .... We would highly recommend this wonderful guest house and i would definitely come back again! Suited our needs.
The stay was fine. House was clean, tidy and very comfortable. Great beds. Great warm gas fire. It is on the train tracks which we didn't realise when booking but they weren't very frequent so not much of an annoyance. Would stay again if needing to stay in Waiouru.
