The room was very run down. It was clean but there was part of the door that was broken, the bathroom door was broken. The shower had multiple spots of missing caulk and there was lots of damage and missing tiles. My room key kept not working and I had to go down to the desk multiple times to get access to my room. I was in town for a funeral and it was a terrible place to try and decompress and relax after dealing with arrangements from out of state.

When I checked in, the woman at the counter was rude and short, seemed like she had better things she wanted to be doing. I get to the room, and the smoke detector’s low battery chirp is going off, I inform the front desk again getting attitude from the woman at the counter, and was basically told there was nothing going to be done about it.

Ive stayed at this hotel several times and its always been a positive experience. Staf is friendly, rooms are clean and location is somewhat quiet (occasionally a loud vehicle or 2). Mattress isnt so good for my back but thats my issue, may be just fine for others.

Not quite as pleased as I'd like to have been
We literally had no other alternatives at 2:20 a.m. on 9/16/2023 but to reserve a room at the Extended Stay in Virginia Beach, Va. I reserved and paid for a queen bed and non-smoking room. The Extended Stay website clearly states their rioms are a non-smoking. Our room had a double bed and reeked of cigarette smoke. Being that we attempted to check in early at our arrival time of 4:40 a.m., we were charged an additional $130 for a little more than 8 hours extra. After contacting hotels.com, they did secure a refund of the early check-in fee. I was also not offered a military discount on the hotels.com website nor at the front desk. I am satisfied with the refund processed by hotels.com, but extremely disappointed by Extended Stay.

Mold in the AC, dead roaches stuck into the floor in the bathroom, carpet was wet (indicating mildew) and constant sirens along the street (admittedly not the hotels fault) made it uncomfortable/difficult to sleep. This hotel costs far too much per night for these issues. Pillows were quite good and if cleaned and the carpets are changed or deep cleaned it could be a much nicer place to stay.

The front staff were rude, trying to wait on too many people at once instead of finishing with 1 first. Upon requesting to stay an additional night the rate quoted was twice as high as the 2 previous nights. People linger around the property making it feel unsafe. There are no elevators. We will nnot stay there again.

Worst Hotel Experience Ever!
I booked a non-smoking room. The stench of long term, recent cigarette smoking in Room 205 was overwhelming. When I went to my conference the next day, my coworkers asked if I had taken up smoking - that’s how bad it smelled in there. I use a CPap machine. 2 days after my stay, the machine still reeks of smoke & I can’t get it out. The HVAC would screech every time the compressor kicked in, so when I would fall asleep I’d be woken up by that sound every 30 minutes. This is not a safe part of town, and the outside hallways are dimly lit. The door to my room was very loose - easy to break into when you’re away. The shower controls are reversed, but that’s a small issue compared to the rest. I just can’t understand how they could allow someone to rent this room as non-smoking. Whoever cleaned it last had to know how bad the smell was. It should’ve been fumigated before renting it out. I will never stay at this or any other Extended Stay again.

Rude and unlawful behavior to a disabled person.
The manager at the facility demanded that I pay a pet fee for my ADA approved service animal. Seeing this is a violation of federal law I made her aware of that and offered to show her the federal law that explains it. She had told me that she did not want to see it. After a lengthy journey to the facility I paid the fee under protest. Her name is Jeanelle Weihert. In addition to that the so-called sweet was nothing other than a old motel room including the smell. They did not have an ice machine they did not have a coffee pot in the room they had no utensils to cook with the bathing area was dirty and there was literally raw sewage coming out from around the toilet when I flushed it. Trust me I could not make this up. There’s so-called free breakfast consisted of oatmeal expired offbrand granola bars and coffee. I have stayed at many extended-stay facilities in the past and this facility was incomprehensible to me. As I said the General Manager Jeanelle Weihert was unbelievably rude to say the least. Being as I have Gold status as a member of Hotels.com, I was under the impression that I was entitled to a late check out entitlement. When I explain this to the general manager she had told me she knew nothing about hotels.com and if I wasn’t checked out by 12 o’clock noon I would automatically be charged for an additional night. I feel that it is very important for Hotels.com to address these issues with this particular facility. I had to cancel and rebook through La Quinta.

This property was NOT at all as described. There was no breakfast as stated there would be. They had people living in the stairwells. We came out to a staff member "cleaning" put someone from their room who'd used this hotel as someplace to live, by throwing stuff out the door. It was on the third floor, so it fell on everyone including our car and my five year old. Worst hotel I've ever stayed in.

Blah Labor Stay
Stay was ok. We had poor water pressure, made it hard to wash hair. The door was warped so the bottom didn’t shut all the way. It locked but there was certainly room for creepy crawlers to come in. Mid way through the stay I found out that check in want confirmed when they tried to give my room away to someone else. It was rectified quickly but left my dog a little panicked after a strange person walked into the room! Overall it was at best an ok stay.

It was a good distance from the business of the downtown area which was nice. However it wasn’t the cleanest-there was a bunch of sand in the shower when we checked in and stains on the towels and blinds. The free breakfast was packets of oatmeal and granola bars, which was disappointing. But we only stayed one night so it was fine and they were dog friendly which was awesome.

When we got there it wasn’t clean, our sink had like an orange stain on it the floor wasn’t sweeped and our room looked nothing like the photos show. When we showed up there were 2 police cars and animal control there. And as we stayed through the week 2 more police cars showed up.

We were given a room with 2 twin beds for 3 people. Booked a room with 2 double beds non smoking. The front desk guy blamed Expedia for the booking change. I contact an Expedia rep and they sent mean email of my booking which was for 2 double beds non smoking. Room was dirty and smelled like cigarettes, cigarette burns on the thin counterpane. Big black ants. Manager was accommodating and refunded the rest of our stay, quickly as if this happens a lot.

The bed and bathroom were clean but the rooms did not have carpet and the floors were dirty. I had to use a washcloth to “mop” the floor so we could walk on them.
