The tree house on the Rio Hondo Valley Alpacas- no cleaning fee

Take yourself back in time when life was much simpler. Come and stay at a real working farm. The Tree House is located on a 13.5 acre private estate in the Beautiful Valdez Valley just 6 miles north of Taos.

The Tree House is a fairy-tale cottage, hand built by the owner, who is a Taos artist and metal sculptor and furnished with handmade furniture and antiques. There is peace and quite except for the rustling of the giant 200 year old cottonwoods and the rushing of the Rio Hondo River as it makes its' way to the Rio Grande. The Tree House has a balcony that over looks a 100 ft. pond with Mallard Ducks.

A short walking distance on the other side of the property is the working part of the farm, consisting of Alpacas, Ducks, Chickens and of course the gentle Great Pyrenees dogs that watch over all. You are welcome to feed the Alpacas, learn about their history and in early summer you might even see a cria (baby Alpaca) or you can walk to he top of the hill and watch the chickens.

There is lots of wildlife in the Valley and you might occasionally see a Bear, coyote, Deer, Fox or even an Elk on the property.

We are located half way between Taos and Taos Ski Valley. About a 10 min drive in either direction.

Wonderful and unique property, exceeded high expectations. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Very peaceful, yet close to everywhere we wanted to go in Taos. Clean, quiet, and a very comfortable bed.

The place was beautiful. The mini fridge in the kitchen was behind cabinet doors that we left open so it could run properly. When we first got there there was a lot of hot air around it. It cooled off nicely after we did that.We enjoyed sitting in the front porch. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. There are however, no more alpacas. They are in the process of trying to move, so they gave the alpacas away. No big deal for us, we loved the tree house.

Had an excellent stay. The Treehouse was very comfortable. The pictures on Vrbo don’t do it justice. The whole property, especially the treehouse, really is something out of a storybook setting. It has to be seen in person to really grasp how spectacular this place is. The owners were very nice with check-in and check-out being a breeze. Highly recommended.

Beautiful Inside and Out!

Everything about our stay was so wonderful. June was such a kind and welcoming host, and the property was one of the most beautiful places that we've ever stayed at! We hope nothing but the best for June and Jim now that they have sold their property, and I hope that the new owners continue on with the same spirit!

This is a charming little house in a spectacular setting, close enough to Taos to enjoy it, but calm and relaxed in its own way. The hosts were thoughtful and welcoming. Sadly, the alpacas were no longer there, but the surroundings are so lovely that that more than made up for it. Grab it while you can! We would definitely go back.

Fairytale-like Stay!

This treehouse stay has been almost fairytale like! The house is darling and clean! Jim and June are wonderful hosts. If you need a place to relax and refresh and you love the tranquility and peace afforded in nature, this is your place! I cannot recommend it highly enough!

Magical place!

The Tree House was everything promised and then some. Located in a lovely valley outside Taos, the property is breathtaking with its pond, proximity to the Rio Hondo and feeling of privacy. The facilities are comfortable and complete for a relaxing, refreshing stay. The hosts are available but discreet. A truly special place!

Sanctuary in the High Desert

Jun and Jim’s treehouse on their sanctuary in northern NM was perfect for our stay. It probably works best for a couple but we two girlfriends found it ideal. The guest bed/sofa was comfy. Our hosts were friendly and helpful. The area is fortunate to have them and we thank them for our stay.

Tree House Living

I truly enjoyed my stay at the treehouse! Jun and her husband are very nice people! I missed the alpacas by a day or two! They are selling their property. The treehouse was a wonderful respite for me, I just started full retirement! It had everything I needed, I was comfortable, it was clean and ready for me when I moved in I appreciate this very much and the opportunity to have stayed there!

The “Tree House” at Rio Hondo

The property is fabulous and June and Jim are the kindest people you’ll meet. The “cabin” is unpretentious and charming. We loved the loft and everything about the place. The stars at night are amazing. You feel like you are in the middle of nowhere, yet the little town of Arroyo Seco is only minutes away. Taos Ski Valley is less than. 15 minutes away. Downtown Taos is about the same. We love unique places and this was one for sure. It’s also an alpaca ranch.

Cozy & peaceful stay!

Really enjoyed my stay on this beautiful property. Jim and Jun are great hosts. The alpacas are very sweet and it was fun to hang out with them for a little while. The treehouse was cozy, quiet and clean.

A true gem

All the reviews of this place are true. For a couple's getaway, this treehouse cannot be beat. It is immaculate in every way. June and Jim are excellent hosts. The grounds of the property are beautiful, too. I would choose to stay here again and again!
