Couldn't wait to leave!

Villa Sarna is located at least 20 minutes north of Central Ubud in an area called Tegallalang. It is a remote area, by the rice terraces. While the area was extremely beautiful, we felt completely secluded and found our experience to be quite eerie. When we arrived, we were greeted by staff that did not speak much English but were very welcoming. They showed us to our room (Arjuna) and this is where our stay turned for the worse. Wi-Fi: Villa Sarna states that they provide wifi access to all of their guests. Not true. We attempted to log in to the wifi, which didn't work. We were told that the network provider had been causing them some grief as of late and were told it would be rectified for the following day. Again, not true. The following day, they said there was something wrong with iPhones logging in to the network. Their only solution was to let us use their computer at reception. Arjuna suite: When we arrived, the room was dingy and outdated. To make matters worse, there were literally hundreds of ants that began to fall through a broken light fixture from the roof. We were horrified and immediately asked to change rooms. They accommodated our request but by then we were frustrated. When expressing our displeasure, they simply told us that they were ashamed and hoped our next accomodation was better. This offered no solution to our problem and we left with no intention of ever returning. I could go on but Expedia has a maximum character limit.

Really lovely setting with wonderful staff

We had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay at Villa Sarna. All the staff and the owner were delightful to deal with. Nothing was too much trouble for them. It was very peaceful and a lovely setting. The owner has a wonderful spa in Ubud called Vive Spa - which we can highly recommend. We really enjoyed our stay and will return to Villa Sarna on our next trip to Bali. We visit Bali regularly.

Authentic place close to rice terraces.

Nice staff and what a beautiful view in an authantic villa! Full of character. They need to refesh the fence around the pool and there is high humidity in the room. The navette service that is offered is really handy.

Mindblowing Retreat Space

After staying at a total of five hotels in Ubud over the course of a month, Hotel Sarna was my favorite. Although it is about a 25-minute drive out of town, it is totally worth it. It is located at a higher elevation (cooler temps) than most of Ubud by the famous Tegalalong Rice Terraces. I stayed in the Vishnu room, which had a beautiful and spacious view of the rainforest, a private coy pond, temple, and queen-size outdoor day bed. Your meals can be brought to your private patio. Dinner can be ordered from a delicious and authentic restaurant right down the road and breakfast is perfect. In my opinion, the greatest perk is its proximity to the epic rice terraces. These famous terraces get very crowded mid-day. By staying at this resort, you can wake up at 7:00 am and walk 13 minutes to the terraces and be the only one there!!! The pool is beautiful and the staff is lovely. My trip's focus was a little sight-seeing and yoga. I will say that the shuttle cannot be taken until 9:00 am; this prevented me from attending early morning classes but it was worth it. I practiced on my private deck instead. (The shuttle will pick you up from downtown as late as 10:30 pm.)

Great stay near Ubud

Excellent stay. The hotel is situated just outside of ubud nestled in a quite jungle like setting, overlooking a small Valley. Very beautiful and relaxing. Our room was very spacious with one hell of a view. The staff was awesome, very friendly and accommodating. And they make awesome banana pancakes. Bonus, the hotel has motorbikes for rent which worked out great because the rice terraces are just a half a mile north from here.

Beste hotelervaring op Bali

Iets verwijderd van het centrum van Ubud, in de jungle, vlak naast de rijstvelden, ligt Villa Sarna. Is niet erg, want het is er heerlijk rustig en ze hebben op afspraak gratis een shuttle van en naar het centrum rijden. Meteen is duidelijk dat ze de natuur voorop stellen: de minivilla's (+-50m2) zijn omgeven door planten en bloemen, welke goed onderhouden worden. De kamers zijn schoon en het personeel is bijzonder vriendelijk, oprecht geïnteresseerd en gastvrij. Als we ooit teruggaan gaan we zeker weer hier naartoe.

People at Villa Sarna are very lovely and welcoming. Beautiful scenery. Free daily transfers to and from Ubud every 2 hours (20 mins drive). Charming gardens.

Quiet, peaceful and cool

Room didn't match the photo and some of the promised little things such as robes were not there but, in all, it was a lovely place to stay with a wonderful relaxing view. There's a shuttle service that goes to Ubud so there is no need to be isolated completely and there are several nice places to eat close by. If steps are an issue, don't stay here.

Nice & peaceful place to stay

This place bit far from town centre but worthwhile to stay. Very friendly staff. Best place to stay for who like nature and peaceful environment. Cool people☺️

Enchanting gardens and koi ponds. Lovely property and staff. The hit water went out and they promptly upgraded my room. A bit remote from Ubud and would recommend.

Excellent holiday

It was a fabulous stay at Bali. The staff at the hotel are very courteous, helpful and friendly. The breakfast is lavish and they go out of their way to make you feel at home and comfortable. The view from our room was spectacular. This is one hotel I will recommend to all our friends and family.

Very good service, staff was friendly and helpful. Beautiful location - close to many of the tourist destinations. Great breakfast every morning. I was upgraded to the Krishna room - fantastic. Sometimes the water supply was limited, and could not shower in the morning. Very close to the rice terraces, one of my favorite spots in Bali.

Not quite what we were expecting

The hotel rooms were very dated. The room was big enough but had a strange set out and the bed position didn't take advantage of the view. After each meal of room service the dishes were left for hours to be collected (usually until the next meal). Our room wasn't cleaned in the two nights we stayed. There was an elderly woman staying in the common lounge area which made it feel like you were intruding. Staff were friendly but the language barrier was quite obvious. Nice enough hotel with a good view but there's better elsewhere in the area for the price.

Relaxing break

I spent a relaxing four night stay at Villa Sarna.Regular transfers are available to/from Ubud (20 minutes). Room was very comfortable and staff were friendly and helpful. It is better to organise tours, but a walk or run from the Villa will take you through several small villages, and picturesque rice terraces. The villa had bicycles but these were only available if a group tour was organised.

住所はウブドとありますが、実際はテガラランです。

　評判の良いクリシュナの部屋に泊まりました。スタッフは全員、感じもよく、助けてくれます。スタッフは素晴らしいです。眺めもいい。働き者のバリ人のバイクの音もよく聞こえます。　但し、テガラランはウブドから遠く、送迎車で20分くらいかかります。食事も、宿と同列会社のｶﾝﾌﾟﾝｶﾌｴは無料送迎してくれますが、ｶﾝﾌﾟﾝｶﾌｴは観光地価格で高めです。　この宿の部屋は、私が今まで泊まったバリの民宿ににています。　バリ島にしては値段が高いと感じたのでかなり厳しい意見で申し訳ありません。　朝食はボリューム満点で、おいしかったです。

Oasis with beautiful well maintained gardens.

Super clean and looked after. The pool is a gem, cool and refreshing. Breakfast is yummy, just enough choices. The staff are super friendly and accomodating. Difficulty comes when there is no where local to eat. There is room service and a local cafe provides meals. Although generous, not great for a foodie like me. Rooms are large and comfortable, views spectacular and the decor could do with updating. I enjoyed my stay and will come back. Hopefully, the dinner dilemma would be solved by then.
