    Nestled on a tree-lined lot next to open space, this 2,300 square-foot 4BR/3BA home boasts two primary suites and a gorgeous Great Room overlooking the back deck. Step out to the deck to relax in the lounge area, or make use of the gas grill and host a cookout. Light the gas firepit to enjoy s'mores and conversation beneath tall trees and starlit skies. Downtown Truckee is only one mile from your door, and miles of hiking and biking trails are out the back door. Drive and explore Northstar and Squaw Valley. Sparkling Donner Lake is moments away for summertime fun.



    Exposed beams and soaring vaulted ceilings in the Great Room give the space a warm ski lodge vibe. Settle into comfortable furnishings and enjoy the warm ambience of the gas fireplace. Find an array of board games, books, and DVDs in the entertainment center, along with 50in TV with a soundbar. The chef in your party will feel right at home in the roomy kitchen. Pour a glass of wine and perch at the kitchen bar while dinner simmers. Enjoy meals in the elegant dining space. Complimentary WiFi, air-conditioning, and a washer/dryer are provided.



    Two primary suites feature king beds and smart TVs. The first has an en-suite bathroom with a big walk-in shower, and the second has direct access to the deck and an en-suite bathroom with a stone vanity and a walk-in shower. The guest room has a cozy queen sleigh bed, while the fourth bedroom has two twin beds. The 12-foot ceiling bonus room features two full-over-full bunk beds and a separate area for lounging and watching tv. Another bathroom has a tub/shower combination and a stone vanity.



    Public amenities include family-friendly skiing at Tahoe Donner Ski Resort, sledding, and tubing at Snowplay, or discover 100 km of trails at the Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center. In the summer, check out Tahoe Donner Golf Course and explore over 60 miles of hiking trails in the area. To venture out on horseback, visit the Tahoe Donner Equestrian Center.

    Your reservation includes two passes that allow a total of eight guests to access the Trout Creek Recreation Center for a nominal daily fee per person. Amazing place to start exploring Tahoe

We have been lucky enough to spend few days in this house to visit Tahoe and we had a blast Very close to Truckee where you can get anything you’d need, the house itself is a great spot for a family, the bedrooms are decorated with a nice touch, beds are so comfy, and it’s so nice to wake up with a cup of coffee and see all the chipmunks running :) We loved it and hope we can get back one day!

Fantastic

My family and I had such a wonderful time here in January, we are already making plans to book again this summer. The location couldn’t be more perfect with access to trails leading to amazing views of Donner Lake. It’s also only a short drive to downtown or Northstar Resort. We had a fantastic stay at this Bernese gem and cannot wait to come back!

Amazing property, perfect for families

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. With 4 little ones under the age of 4 there was plenty of space for the kids to run around. The location is very convenient to Donner Lake, downtown Truckee and local grocery store and restaurants. We highly recommend and would stay again!

Amazing home!

We love everything about this home. The location, the beautiful home with lots of beds and amenities. Perfect place to have a family trip. We love sitting in the backyard and enjoy the Tahoe view. The view place was very clean, well decorated, spacious and welcoming. We love forward to coming back again next year!!

Lovely Tahoe Donner Home

This is a beautiful, spacious home close to Tahoe Donner Downhill Ski Resort, stores, and downtown Truckee. The kitchen had plenty of dishes and utensils, and the beds were extremely comfortable. We found it very easy to care for our infant and 6-year-old, who both enjoyed the sledding hill out back. We look forward to staying here again when we visit the Tahoe Donner area.

Awesome House Near Lake Tahoe

We had an incredible time in Bernese Gem. From skiing in nearby NorthStar to sledding and snow shoeing right out of the back door! The house is beautiful, very spacious and super comfortable. We had plenty of room for 2 families. The kitchen is very well equipped. We enjoyed the jacuzzi and heated pool in the rec center. Definitely want to come back!

Awesome home

The house was great. More room than we expected. Loved having two bathrooms with private bathrooms. The great room was amazing. The air conditioning was a little off. The great room with bunks got really cold whereas the tv room gets really warm and hard to cool off. We needed more washcloths so we kept doing laundry. Would be helpful if there was a tv in every room. Lots of mosquitoes in the summer so be prepared. Overall, our issues were very small. We plan on coming back to stay in this house for sure. Best rental house we’ve stayed in yet.

Great house, poor communication.

The house itself was great — spacious, comfortable, and the bunk room was a hit with the kids. It worked well for our group overall. One of the key reasons we chose this property, however, was the advertised access to the Trout Creek Rec Center. The listing mentioned 8 passes, which was perfect for our group size. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we only found 6 passes. I contacted Vacasa multiple times and was told they'd follow up with the local office to get the missing two. After waiting all day and making additional calls, we finally heard back on day two — only to be told that homes in Truckee/Donner are only allowed 6 passes, not 8. This was frustrating, especially since access to the pools and rec center was a major factor in our decision to book. A few small housekeeping issues also came up, which added to the inconvenience. That said, we really did enjoy the home itself — it’s just unfortunate that the rec center access and communication issues put a bit of a damper on an otherwise great stay.

Calling all cabin lovers

Bernese Gem is truly a gem. My favorite thing about this cabin is everything. The views, the space, the location, and the trails. It has all the things you can ask for when looking for a winter or summer getaway. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated. My favorite room is the two…I said two queen sized bunk beds that can fit six to eight people maybe even ten. It’s great for big groups or family group vacation with kiddos. The size of this room is humongous. It’s got five bedrooms so it housed all twelve of us with room to spare and three bathrooms. The kitchen is very much open space with all the kitchen utilities and even spices and condiments that you need. I found soy sauce in the cabinet ya’ll. And the living area is just as spacious with a view into the outdoor patio of the trees and trails readily available when you want to become one with nature. This cabin had all the cozy and chill wintery vibes. All the heart eyes for this cabin.

Perfect house and perfect location.

We would love to stay here again. The house has everything you need for a fun and relaxing stay. The kitchen has everything you need for great home cooking - all kinds of spices, utensils, pots, and pans etc. The living area and kitchen are spacious, inviting, and cozy. The fireplace and the custom cabinetry throughout the home made it feel luxurious. The big windows and spacious deck, with gas fireplace, really helped us to appreciate the beautiful surroundings. The bedrooms are spacious and well appointed with comfy beds and everything else needed. The bunk room is huge and stylish (eight people could sleep in there). You can literally take a few steps off the deck and be on a 1.5 mile trail to beautiful Donner Lake. Or, you can take a beautiful walk in the opposite direction, on a paved trail, into town. Truckee is a fun town with many eating and shopping choices, and there are 5 or 6 ski resorts that are really close by. And, of course, Lake Tahoe is close and stunningly beautiful. You will love it here. And, on a clear night, after a nice dinner, just turn out the lights, walk out onto the deck, and look up. Fabulous star gazing that will confirm that you made the right choice.

Decent home for a short stay.

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed for 10 days and found the property decent and comfortable enough. However, the grill was broken and the kitchen was poorly stocked, which made it hard to enjoy meals at home. The location is great with the hiking trail right behind the house. And we thoroughly enjoyed time in the hammock. But the house wasn’t as nice as it appears in the pictures and many things were broken or just not thought through. The broken grill was frustrating. One of the bunk beds doesn’t have a ladder, making it hard for the kids to get up and down. Etc.

great house terrible property management company

The house was great, the management company was awful. They charged our credit card 10 times because they had different address on file and it wasn't working. Well that left those 10 charges pending so our credit card was maxed out tell it was finally posted as not pending. They also sent rude texts and emails for driver license copies or I wouldn't be able to check in. Trying to deal with the problems meant going through 1-800 numbers where nobody really cared what was going on. Would recommend avoiding turn key properties on here.

Wonderful spacious house, convenient location

Wonderful location close to downtown Truckee near Safeway and restaurants. A close drive to several ski resorts which is what we came for. House itself is spacious, the 2 master suites with attached bathrooms are wonderful especially for multiple families. Total 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms are plenty. One bedroom has 2 bunk beds which can sleep up to 5 kids and are fun for the kids. The only downside was that kitchen was slightly disorganized and not fully equipped, the smoke detector in the kitchen was very sensitive and kept going off everytime we cooked. It stopped beeping fairly quickly but was somewhat frustrating. The 2 Tahoe Donner guestcards were both expired and not usable, so we weren’t able to get discounts at Tahoe Donner ski resort where we skied. Due to the same reason we also weren’t able to use the other recreation centers (like hot tub). We had been counting on that so it was a major bummer.

So Much Snow And So Much Fun!

2 families (sisters+families) with kids ranging in age from 13-22 years enjoyed this lovely home for 4 days over the New Years holiday. Due to the unprecedented amount of snow there were a few hiccups regarding TurnKey attempting to cancel/change our arrival date but after too many phone calls and texts we managed to keep our original reservation. The house was awesome, perfect space for our crew. Clean, comfortable, and very well-stocked. The driveway was plowed, and the garage was wide, deep, and very clean. Super helpful for unloading and coming and going. Personally the existing pictures on the VRBO site does not do this home justice. There have been quite a few updates made and those updates deserve to be hi-lighted! We do have 2 “complaints”; 1. Could not find a blender anywhere (hand blender is not a substitute!) but we are willing to overlook that missing appliance since they have just about every other appliance you can imagine, and 2. Streaming tv/no cable is a challenge. We are all tech savvy and our adult children are experts when it comes to YouTubeTv/Netflix/Hulu/Apple Tv however if the WiFi struggles or isn’t working than those 4 awesome, huge flat screens in the house are for not. TV’s definitely struggled and were glitchy our first few days there and then New Years Eve the WiFi totally went out Couldn’t watch the ball drop, no Rose Bowl Parade, and had to watch the first of 3 bowl games New Years Day via hotspot on one of our phones. TurnKey was not helpful after hours of trying to work this out…we just came up with solutions on our own. I would not let this deter anyone from spending their vacation at this house, however if tv is important to you just be prepared for some glitches. The house and amenities were great and we really enjoyed our stay. We are never quite sure what we are going to get when we rent via these sites but this one was a definite crowd pleaser!
