The boathouse is a peaceful cottage set away from the road and new to the rental market. Located just across the swing bridge on Barters Island, this cottage is your perfect home away from home when visiting the Boothbay Region.

Set directly on a tidal cove, you can`t get any closer to the water. Originally built for storage of boats in the winter, it retains the open feel, old pine floors and original wood ceiling rafters. With large picture windows, you can enjoy watching birds and looking for seals pop up in the cove. Great for a solo traveler, couple or small family - Barters Island Boathouse is the perfect place to unplug and connect with nature and the quiet of Maine.

Downstairs you`ll find a well-stocked kitchen, a comfortable dining area, and a living room with views looking out towards the Sheepscot. Downstairs you`ll also find a den area with a full-sized futon and a TV with streaming capabilities. Heading upstairs, you`ll find the bedrooms - one with a queen-sized bed and one with a twin. There is a shared bathroom on the second floor.

Sliding doors at the end of the downstairs living area open to a small deck where you can get even closer to the water and enjoy your coffee or evening beverage.

Just across the bridge is the Trevett Store - head over for lunch for the best lobster roll in town! Watch the activity from their deck and enjoy the boats going through the swing bridge. Fun fact: the bridge was one of the last hand-cranked swing bridges in the United States until becoming automatic in 2021.

Barters Island Boathouse is just 1/2 mile from the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, less than 1/2 mile to Knickercane boat launch (where you can launch your own kayaks or meet up with a group from Maine kayak rentals for an excursion), 1/2 mile to Porter Preserve (one of the first properties of Boothbay Region Land Trust with incredible hiking trails and views of the Sheepscot River), and just a short drive to downtown Boothbay Harbor - a quaint small town with plenty of delicious restaurants and cute shops.

• Pets are not permitted at this property. Only ADA-compliant service animals are permitted. Bringing an unauthorized pet to the property may result in cancellation of your reservation, a minimum $500 unauthorized pet fee, and additional cleaning or damage charges.
• A mandatory, non-refundable damage waiver is included in your reservation total in place of a security deposit. Guests remain responsible for damage exceeding coverage or resulting from negligence or rule violations.
