Pristine log home with a western feel! It's not just a stay but an experience!

The Ranch has a western atmosphere with rustic features that gives a feel of warmth and total relaxation!
Come stay in a spacious upscale log home situated on 8 acres surrounded by mature Blue Spruce pines. This property is located 10 minutes from Cherry Capitol Airport and 15 minutes from downtown Traverse City. The home has recently been updated with new furnishings including carpet and décor. Enjoy the cozy atmosphere of the lower level family room for movie night and games. Capture the sunset and sunrise from the large cedar front deck with plenty of room for family gatherings. Schedule PONY TIME for the little cowpokes with Toodles and Chub Chub at no extra cost to our guests. Upon arriving you will learn about the legend of the old cowboy "Johnny Van Camp" who mysteriously disappeared! However he left a trail of treasures for guests to find! Come and enjoy the experience!

Amazing stay with welcoming hosts! Everything was absolutely lovely! Our group of 10 fit comfortably in the artfully decorated and clean rooms, and the deck was a great place to barbecue and hang out to enjoy the Michigan summer evenings. The kitchen was spacious for many cooks in the kitchen for morning breakfast, and the scenery was stunning. Great location near Keystone Trailhead, St. Francis in town, and near to Traverse City. We’d love to stay again!

Amazing house with great location!

House was plenty big enough for my family of twelve. Everything was clean and in proper working condition. Anything you would want to do in Traverse was 10 -15 mins away. Would def recommend this place to anyone.

Property is beautifully maintained, had everything we needed doing our stay and host communicated with us promptly! Would definitely recommend this property if you’re visiting Traverse City area.

We had a great stay at this property. Everything was very clean and well cared for, which made it easy to relax and feel comfortable right away. The kitchen was spacious and easy to cook in, with all the essentials we needed for meals.We also really appreciated the outdoor space—the yard and landscaping were beautiful and clearly maintained with care. The front porch was a peaceful spot to enjoy a morning coffee or wind down in the evening.Overall, a very enjoyable stay. We’d definitely come back.

Michigan 2024 Family Trip

We had an amazing stay at the Kessel’s home! They were absolutely amazing. They live just behind the rental and are always ready and willing to help with anything you need during your stay. During our stay the fire pit ran out of propane and within 5 min John had already came down to replace it. I cannot say enough good things about the Kessel family or our experience. One thing to note is the description of the home says there are 6 bedrooms but after arriving we realized there are only 5 bedrooms and a pull out couch. This ended up working out because we are a family of 11 and 4 of the 11 are kids. This home is a great place to stay if you have kids. During our stay John and Laura took us out to see their ponies. The kids learned all about the horses and got to pet them. Overall we loved our stay and are so happy we stayed with the Kessel family!!

Summer vacation

We enjoyed every minute of our stay at "The Ranch." It was the perfect spot for our family vacation- close to town, lakes, and activities. John and Laura were wonderful hosts. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. We are hoping to return sometime in the near future!

Great home for family vacation

Beautiful home and property. Extremely well maintained with lots of amenities. Very friendly and responsive hosts. Plenty of space for a big family vacation to the Traverse City area. Highly recommended.

An amazing vacation in a perfect location!

Our family group of 10, (6 adults and 4 children ages 12,10,8, & 4), stayed at this property from 7/16-723/23. Laura and John were amazing hosts. John met us when we arrived, he gave us a tour and made sure we knew were everything was and how to use it. The house was large enough for our group, it allowed us space when we wanted it and had large gathering areas for group activities as well. The outside space was well maintained with a large grass area where we played croquet and soccer. One of the more memorable times during the week was when Laura & John invited the children to their property to visit the horses. They even gave the kids each a ride around the corral on the horse. The kids are still talking about it. Just a wonderful experience!

Great Home & Amazing Location

Stayed for 4 days and 3 nights with a group of 9 and this was a perfect house for it! The house was incredibly clean, rules and expectations, as well as wifi and contact information was clearly listed and easy to locate, and the hosts were very friendly and accommodating. With 9 people there were 7 beds and still 2 couches people could sleep on ( some just shared a bed though). The hot tub was not working, which was a bummer, (and not the fault of the hosts; they let us know and have been waiting on the part so it could be fixed.) the Sauna was fantastic and a great way to relax in some heat. The outdoor area is beautiful and comfortable for morning coffee or relaxing before bed. Only 15 minutes from downtown Traverse and 30 minutes from the top of the wineries on both Mission and Leelanau Peninsula, this location was perfect to go wherever you needed! I cannot say enough about this space and the hosts, both John and Laura are so kind and easy to get a hold of. Oh, and they have 3 beautiful horses you can see while you're there too! You will not be disappointed.

This was an awesome place to stay with friends for a golf trip. Pretty convenient location to get to & from TC & surrounding areas. Loved all the amenities inside & outside of the house. Hosts were very gracious & private. Truly a great place.

Beautiful House & Property!

The pictures don't do the house justice. It is a beautiful house, with plenty of room for our group of 12. Also loved having firepits (both gas & wood burning), a hot tub, and horses to look at! I highly recommend this home, and would love to go back.

Amazing Property

I needed place for out f town family going up for my so's wedding. Finding out that family had not secured lodging, I knew that a VRBO would be the best/only option in TC. This home was the ONLY home left the would work for 10 of us. Soooo glad it was because next time, I would choose this home over any other available options. Acreage provides privacy, fire pit with no neighbors looking over. Amazing interior design; warm and welcoming and very 'horsey/cowboy' in a log home with hot tub and multiple conversation deck options for all. So close to downtown yet not too. Five stars for this one. Managers are awesome and readily available should you need them. Don't miss this property folks!!!

Beautiful home

We had a lovely stay here. The house was clean and beautifully decorated. The beds were comfortable. The house was large enough to accommodate 7 adults without issues. There was a slight mix up with the online reservation with an accidental overlap of reservations due to a technical glitch but the hosts noticed immediately and provided a prompt refund for the night we were not able to stay. The hosts were responsive to any questions or issues that came up. We would stay here again on a future trip.

John and Laura are just amazing host. The house was lovely, quiet, peaceful, close enough to enjoy all the activities Traverse City has to offer. We came for the horse show and was an easy drive to the show and the home was just so nice to come home too. The furniture was so comfortable and you just felt like you were at home.
