Paraíso no centro do país
Já é a 2a vez que passamos férias nesta casa. Situada num local de sonho, tranquilo, suficientemente perto da "civilização " para o que for necessário mas longe para mantermos a paz desejada.

Muito bom e bonito. Localização excelente para usufruir da serra e rio. As pessoas da região são extremamente simpáticas e prestaveis. Ideal para quem procura umas férias tranquilas em contato com a Natureza.

Repousante estada
A Casa de Pedra é muito acolhedora e tem tudo o que é preciso para uma estada repousante e para um dia a dia sem ateopelos. O espaço exterior também é muito simpático; tivemos pena de não usufruir particularmente dele, porque preferimos dedicar o nosso tempo dando passeios nas zonas circundantes ( paisagens idílicas!). Obrigada aos donos da casa e à D. Olinda.

Das melhores férias que já tivemos!
Uma casa e jardim bem decorados que demonstram o bom gosto dos proprietários. É um verdadeiro retiro, excelente para quem precisa de fugir ao stress da cidade. A casa está bem equipada e a localização é óptima, pois temos o rio mesmo ao lado. A cidade de Tomar que fica a poucos klms merece ser visitada. Agradecemos o acolhimento e a simpatia da D. Olinda.

A perfect getaway
After doing an extensive amount of research for my first trip to Portugal, I felt extremely lucky to have happened upon this wonderful home. The house was everything I had hoped for and more. The location is just remote enough to have privacy and serenity, but perfect to jump on the highway in any direction and explore. If you are so inclined, as I was, there are also plenty of areas to traverse on foot. There is a binder provided that contains all types of information on the area including walking trails, which is a gold mine. The hosts were able to give me some personalized ideas as well. The house is lovely, well equipped and comfortable. The private garden and patio to relax or entertain in is so special. This will definitely be my first choice to stay when I return. Thank you so much for your hospitality. I highly recommend this rental.

Leuk huisje, prima plek maar niet schoon
Leuk huisje, goede locatie maar de hygiëne kan veel beter. Het huis was niet schoon, geen vuilniszak in de afvalemmer, vuilniszakken waren ook niet aanwezig. De bestek la in de keuken was ronduit vies. Fornuis was niet schoon en veel keukenspullen waren plakkerig. Jammer want het was een geschikt huis voor meerdere personen.

Spring Bliss
This is a magical rural location. Glorious sunsets, bees buzzing in fragrant jasmine, wisteria, & climbing roses. A light breeze carried other pastoral sounds: sheep bleating, a rooster's crow, the quacking of ducks or geese passing overhead. Casa de Pedra is well-appointed for a peaceful get-away. Full kitchen, a lovely dining room, charming dining patio, welcoming living room, restful bedrooms, and a much appreciated, eco-friendly washer and dryer. Every window frames a beautiful view. We heartily recommend this home, in every season!

Beautiful old house with modern improvements. A delightful stay.
We loved the house. Beautiful old stone work. So sturdy it even withstood the hurricane. It was pleasant to sit on the patio and enjoy the sunset. Inside the house has been fully modernized without losing appeal. We had no problems and enjoyed our visit at the end of the road.

Es war wieder sehr schön
Tolles ruhiges Steinhaus in der Nähe zum Stausee. Wir waren als Familie das zweite Mal dort und haben den Aufenthalt wieder sehr genossen.

A Home from Home!
Casa de Pedra is an excellent place to stay with everything you need. It's in a lovely setting with tracks, trails and country roads to follow and explore the many tiny villages. A large, comfortable living area and a well-equipped kitchen including washing machine and tumble dryer. The dining room is spacious and has a large sliding glass door to the exterior. The dining table is large with nice chairs and, thoughtfully, chairs for children. There is an excellent terrace with a large table and chairs with a barbecue. There are mountain bikes in the garage. The nearest town is Serra which we initially dismissed, but quickly came to like and enjoy. One of the ladies in the Post Office speaks excellent English. The supermarket is very good for such a small town and the butcher's shop next to the Cafe de Serra is very useful. The Cafe de Serra does no-nonsense food such as chicken and chips with soup and dessert and a pichet of red thrown-in for ridiculously cheap prices. beware the portion sizes and order one between two!! Have a coffee (or three) outside the little cafe and look out for the old Goldoni tractor with added modern bodywork - amazing The area round the casa door is a natural suntrap with a row of chairs where we had G&Ts and nibbles on most evenings. The lady who looks after the house is called Olinda, is lovely and lives just up the road. Everyone in the area is friendly and "Bom Dia" (good morning) and "Boa Tarde" (good afternoon) are obligatory! If the water level in the lake is high, the "beaches" disappear! A visit to Castel de Bode to see the huge dam is a good idea and you can visit Constancia which is very interesting and Sardoal which we really liked. Dornes is lovely too. Tomar is the obvious attraction and well worth a visit. On the way in you can get an excellent lunch for a very reasonable price at the cafe in the Modelo Continente supermarket. We had four weeks in Portugal in this casa and another near the Spanish border and I've lost track of the number pf pastel de natas that we ate! The "Gourmet" ones in the Pingo Doce supermarket are superb! People have commented in other reviews about the derelict houses nearby, but they didn't bother me in the least and I quite enjoyed exploring them and speculating on just what happened to this little village of Esteveira. The bread van comes each morning at about 08:00 and the large-bun sized loaves are wonderful in taste and texture. Some Spanish friends visited and loved them!

Entzückendes Häuschen mit allem was man braucht
Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt in dem netten Steinhäuschen. Ideal für einen ruhigen Erholungsurlaub. Es ist alles da was man braucht. Die Raumaufteilung optimal. Die Lage eigentlich wildromantisch, wenn nicht im Juni die Wälder des Tales den Waldbränden zum Opfer gefallen wären...

Good, clean kind of ruin neighbor hood a lot of ruin houses
I book this house, because it's said River front, and the price is fantastic , it's actually river in the area you have to walk pretty good distance to the river. little difficult to find the place , don't drive there on the first time at night, if you are not live in Portugees , the area very remote, a lot of turns , Ruin houses look like in the war zone, my sister was scare to dead ( because in US she never saw neighborhood like this) in addition the area just had a forest fire over the summer ( The owner had notified me) But every thing turn out great, next day we drove around and find out very peaceful , safe area nice people, very quiet , cozy two bed room ( on room have 4 single beds ) if you have children is good, but not look good for couple, I think if they have double bed in both room is look more cozier Over all we had a nice stay, would recommend

Thank you for your review Angie. We are glad you had an enjoyable stay and discovered the beauty of the place. The drought in Portugal continues and unfortunately the part of the lake which is very close to the cottage dried up over the summer. Let's hope we get our much-needed rain so that the lake fills up again and nature makes a full come back. The house is a little difficult to find which is why we send all our guests detailed directions (including photographs) on how to get there. Thanks again S&W

Nettes Häuschen
Donna Olinda hat uns nett empfangen und das Häuschen gezeigt Ihr Sohn kann bischen englisch. Super ausgestattete Küche. Wir waren begeistert. Alles sehr sauber .

Perfect location to relax in nature
The beautiful cottage is very well equipped. The setting is very quiet an peaceful. The kids enjoyed the nearby lake very much. All in all a very enjoyabe and relaxing stay for the family.

Magnífico lugar para disfrutar de la naturaleza
Pasamos unas vacaciones estupendas en A Casa de Pedra. La casa está completamente equipada y dispone de todo lo necesario para unas estupendas vacaciones familiares en medio de un paraje natural excepcional a escasos metros de una de las lenguas de las múltiples que componen el pantano de Castelo de Bode. Muy de agradecer, igualmente, la información, atención y ayuda inestimable y adecuada ofrecida por los propietarios, Simona y Wilf, y el apoyo en el lugar de Olinda. En resumen, completamente recomendable.

Ein Traum

Superbe endroit!
Le coin est très sympa et très calme, pratique pour visiter les villes alentours. La région du centre est très jolie et il y pleins de choses à voir, sans oublier les activités nautiques. La petite maison est confortable, bien équipée, conforme à la description. Tout était très facile à trouver grâce aux descriptions/explications de Wilf et Simona. Nous y avons passé un moment fort agréable et regrettons ne pas y être restés plus longtemps. Nous y reviendrons sûrement!
