Find a better location! Bait and Switch!

We did not get our orginal location and was told we would be upgraded. We were not. 7 had to shower in 1 shower as the 2nd was disgusting and covered in mold. The owners parked a van at the property which we had to ask them to move for our rental. The neighboorhood we ended up in was "little India" and was not the clean streets or smells of Tokyo! Find a better host and location. This felt like a scam from before we landed! Do your research!

Avoid this Property

This is not the property you will inhabit if you book this place. This owner has multiple properties and this one, I believe, does not even exist. Past renters have been robbed like we were. VRBOs representative, after 100 minutes on the phone, finally agreed that the property was not the advertised property. He was, I think, hoping we would just hang up and give up. I am working on notifying the FBI and the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department to make them aware that I believe this owner, Li Na, is scamming vacationers. The house was filthy.

Family trip

Li-San was an excellent host. She helped us with any questions we had. She provided us with bottled water. And assisted us with getting a wheelchair for one of our family members. We stayed three times during our one month trip to Japan. Our last stay was long term for 9 days. We plan to go to Japan again and will definitely want to stay here. It is convenient to Shin-Okubo station, places to eat and shop. Walking distance to Kabuki-Cho. Coin-laundry is convenient. 7-11, Family Mart and Don Quixote are nearby. We loved it here! Thank you Li-san! We look forward to seeing you again!

Family trip

Host is dishonest and doublebooks

After reading previous bad reviews about this host, we tried to cancel a month before our trip, but Vrbo and the host wouldn't allow us to cancel. She said the problems were fixed. She also contacted me that week, assuring me of the property. She met us at the property and said that our apartment was already occupied (by 15 people) but she had apartments we could use until the next day when they would leave. We had wanted the one bigger place for all of us, not separate rooms, so we said "no". We also didn't trust that we would be able to move the next day, because she had given us many false assurances before. We called Vrbo and they didn't help us. After a long time, she finally canceled and refunded our money. We were happy she refunded us, but it should have been done weeks before when we requested. We had to stand on the street and look for new accomodations that night! Of course, we had to pay much more for our stay in Tokyo. I was not happy with Vrbo's support service and would not recommend this host!

Spacious and Great Location in Shinjuku

Our family enjoyed our one week stay in this wonderfully situated home in Shinjuku. Na, our host, was incredibly sincere and tried very hard to make us feel comfortable. She offered to move us to a bigger place and we decided to take it for our family of 4. She provided new bed sheets and towels which was greatly appreciated. Beds were great! Sun shined through the 2 upstairs bedrooms each day. Walking distance to Shinjuku stores and Shin Obuko station was very convenient and it is lovely walking the neighborhood in general. It was clear that Na made a great effort due to prior reviews to improve the cleanliness of the house and that was appreciated. It wasn’t 100%, but it was much better than expected. Some clutter in the kitchen and deck should still be removed. It would be great to also have more room for a bed side table in the downstairs bedroom and a lamp. Thank you and I wish you all the best. 🌻

This place was cute and convenient

The owners were so nice. They went above and beyond and cared for us. The other two negative listing dealt with a water leakage but it was fixed when we arrived. The place matched the photos exactly. It is a three floors up, but the owners will help take your luggage upstairs as well as down at the end. It has two toilets and two seperate showers so its perfect for two families 2 seperate sleeping areas and 1 bedroom. The street is charming, you see people going for walks at night. There is a 711 nearby when you walk towards the train station. This 711 has a smoothie machine where you can buy a fruit cup and it turns it into a delicious smoothie for $2. Not many 711 have them in japan so we did it everyday. Also if you want to ship your luggage to your next hotel, airport etc. All 711 offers this service for cheap. Airport requires 3 days in advanced for shipping. Hotel is min. 24 hours (ask them). We shipped our bags to our hotel in kyoto three days in advanced so we were able to travel to nikko for edo wonderland lightly for the weekend. Then when we got to kyoto, our bags were waiting for us. So this place is also great for the value. It is cheaper per room per night than if it was a hotel. You get to spend time as a family and make delicious breakfast in the morning. We will be staying here again in the future. It was very clean and comfortable. If you are not comfortable sleeping on the floor the first night or two, you can double up the bed cushion. We were comfortabl

Forced into a different lodging

We booked this lodging near shinjuku. When we arrived to the location, the host notified us that other occupants were staying in our rental. There was NO prior notification of this by the host. We had just arrived in Japan from the USA and were incredibly upset by this. The host then offered us a different room in the same building. This room did not have any safe drinking water nor enough space for our group of 5 adults. We contacted VRBO, but they did not provide us any support and said “We can’t do anything since you agreed to stay in the alternate lodging.” What were we going to do? Try to find a new place after a nearly 24 hour day of traveling? Very disappointed in VRBO’s customer service. No refund or even discount was offered. Eventually we were able to stay in the listing as was advertised. The pictures of the listing was accurate. We do think the information on being close to the train station is inaccurate…we had to walk 15 minutes. There was also likely evidence of rats in the building as the food on our table that we left out overnight was knocked off the table when we awoke in the morning. This entire experience was horrendous. A horrible start to our trip in Japan.

Pictures not accurate

Pros: The host was super sweet and communicated right away when we had questions about the location. She was there when we arrived and dressed our 5 year old in a kimono and was super friendly. The sushi place two blocks away was amazing especially after a long day of travel. It technically fit all 10 of us (2 families of 5, each with a high schooler, middle schooler and kindergartener). Everyone had a bed and each family had a bathroom. The floors were technically clean. Cons: I cannot overemphasize how inaccurate the pictures are. There was stuff EVERYWHERE. It was like a storage unit. There was dust and dirt in every corner and the bathrooms were disgusting (mold, icky showers, the bath tub tipped over, no individual amenities just half old dirty bottles of soap) including a sewage smell in the bathroom by the kitchen. The "rooftop" had laundry drying, stuff everywhere, no cushions. It is a 3 floor walkup on a side street with stuff crammed every corner of the walkup. We stayed two nights and were gone all day at disney so didn't have to spend that much time there and it was half the price of the other places we stayed in Tokyo, Kyoto and Hakone. Fortunately we were all flexible and made the most of it but I would have been mortified if I had booked it for our whole time there and showed up to such false advertising.

Absolutely horrible experience - be careful with this host

The owner moved us from my booking at this house to another (Property # 9531884ha) with less than half day notice due to water leak which she cannot predict, I understand. The other house has 3 floors, which was one thing we did NOT want due to physical reason but we did not have a choice, it was either this or sleep on the street . The house was very filthy (furniture covered with dust), the second floor had strong sewerage odor and it gets worst around the kitchen sink & drawer under the sink, the balconies are cluttered and dirty (can hardly fit one person), some of the towels & pillows had odor, the kitchen was cluttered and messy, the kitchen/balconies/front door/living room looked NOTHING like the photos. The host insisted the five of us using one shower because the other one was used as storage - we refused. The host asked us to lie about our stay should the local authority come check on us. The host was suppose to contact us in two days when my original booking's issue was fixed but she never did. The entire experience made us feel very uncomfortable and unsatisfied, we had to pay full price for an absolute poor conditioned house.

Incredible Stay

Beautiful morning sun was shining on new plum blossoms in my own garden every morning! Perfect Japan experience! City gym only five minutes away for great exercise. And your own vending machine with hot coffee right outside the door. So nice. Quiet neighborhood but close to subways. Unbelievable Korean barbecue restaurants less than ten minutes walk. Best of all, Don Quixote store three minutes away, stocked with everything on earth. A fantastic place!!! I Highly recommend this apartment.
