Primitive hike to tent site
This isn’t a bad site, however the given description is not adequate. This is a primitive campsite- you must carry all your gear up a giant mountain at a steep grade. My elementary and preschool kid could climb it but I had to carry the gear. We are in good shape and without gear it probably took about 10 minutes to get to our site- up the front of the hill, over the top, and to the back. Some people had incredible views. Ours was ok- partially looking over a decrepit residence. Hilltop tent sites are first come first serve- pick your spot. This was the first few days of spring break and it was packed. We arrived about 5:00 and it got dark around 8/8:30. This company, Space Cowboys, also rents out yurts, tepees, large tents, etc. There is a big sign off the highway which made it easy to find. When I arrived there were a couple of people before me wanting to check in also. There were two Hispanic men working who did not speak English. I showed him my printed out reservation and he just pointed to the top of the mountain. Thankfully there was another camper near by who came over and translated for me where I needed to go. I and many other campers were clearly shocked at where our sites were. There are also cheaper sites in a grassy area right by the parking lot- wish we would have gotten that! I would have definitely packed differently had I known the steepness of the hill. The workers there had an atv/mule and I tipped him $10 to take a load up the mountain. Bathrooms clean.
