Tavira is one of the most charming towns in the Algarve and a superb holiday destination, even for those who seek more than just beautiful beaches and good weather. Historical Tavira, located along the Gilão River, is a beautiful blend of traditional Portuguese heritage and deep-rooted Moorish contributions. Traditional tiled residences, restaurants, and an abundance of elaborate churches are hidden among the cobblestoned streets.
In addition to going to the amazing beaches which a just a ferry ride away, there are many things to do and see in Tavira, including taking a walk across the Roman Bridge and visiting Tavira's Castle, which has one of the best views of the city. Just strolling along the cobblestone streets with the traditional shops, cafés and restaurants is also amazing.
Over the years, more and smaller-scale restaurants have opened in Tavira and the nearby coastal towns of Santa Luzia and Cabanas De Tavira, some offering the best fresh seafood available at remarkable prices combined with excellent service more commonly found in exclusive restaurants in the North of Europe. It is a great place for foodies! Should you want to sample an officially accredited dinner, there is a 1* Michelin restaurant in neighbouring Tavira called A Ver Tavira only one kilometre away from the apartment. There are also various golf courses nearby to choose from, with Benamor golf being the nearest 18 hole golf course, approx. 3 km down the road. The golf courses of Quinta da Ria and Quinta de Cima are less than 10 minutes 'drive away. The prestige Monte Rei Golf and Country Club has a restaurant called Vistas, which is also open to the general public, and has a Michelin 1* rating, so you can combine a perfect day of golf with an excellent lunch or dinner.
