I had a family reunion on a Saturday in Warwick, NY, and my 18-year-old daughter and I drove up the night before from Virginia. Knowing we’d be arriving very late, I was looking for something affordable just to stay the night, attend the reunion, and head back home the next day.
We stayed at the Sussex Inn Motel, located about 30 minutes from the reunion site, and I was very happy with our stay. We arrived a little after midnight, but the motel owner texted me ahead of time to confirm our arrival and provided clear instructions on how to access our room using the lockbox.
The room was spacious, very clean, and had everything we needed, including enough towels. We were able to park directly in front of our room, which was convenient. We briefly met the owner in the morning; she was very welcoming and kind.
The motel is not fancy, but it was perfect for a short, no-frills stay. My daughter and I both felt safe throughout the night. The only things we would have liked to see: a full-length mirror in the room and a deadbolt on the front door for added peace of mind. We did notice that the door had to be pulled firmly to latch completely; at one point, it wasn’t closed tightly and blew open with the wind.
Despite that small issue, I would definitely stay here again. It was clean, comfortable, and affordable...just what we needed. Plus, there is a Dunkin’ just 0.2 miles up the road, and the Holland American Bakery, only 0.4 miles away, sells drip coffee for just 25 cents!
