LOCATION / LOCATION / LOCATION !!!

The house is located at the West end of the Island where it is less crowded and more private. If you want a wide, clean, pristine, peaceful beach that gives your family space, away from the crowds at high tide, then you are going to LOVE staying at this location in Holden Beach!!! Also, there is little traffic on the main road at this end of the Island, so it is more peaceful and more quiet at night.

ā€¢ NO CHARGE for 'HOST FEE': Unlike the majority of Homeowners, we do NOT charge this ($150 to $450) fee! (Not to be confused with VRBO Fee)

CHANGES IN 2024 SEASON:
The 2024 Season had (12) 10-star reviews and there were none less than a 10-star.
In 2021 we had (10) out of our (11) reviews were 5-STAR reviews!
Unfortunately, 2023 Season was an off year for us.
With my wifeā€™s cancer, I acknowledge that the house was not to its typical standard the last two Seasons...mostly due to a bad cleaning company.
So a lot of changes, improvements and upgrades were made for the 2024 season.
1. Most importantly the cleaning company has been replaced with an amazing new cleaning company (a family business). We have already had a very positive response.
2. Bathrooms have been updated (see photos).
3. Brand new, large refrigerator for 2024 (see photo)
4. All walls repainted or touched up.
5. Other miscellaneous updates throughout the house.
All photos are recent so what everything you see in the photos is exactly what you get when you arrive.

Give your family memories of a vacation on the ocean in this peaceful, relaxing and charming coastal seaside cottage. Nice wide beach, even at high tide, unlike other areas on NC Islands due to erosion!

WALKWAY TO THE BEACH: There are absolutely 'no steps' on the 'Walkway to the Beach'...this makes it a safer walk for the young children and the elderly. The only steps are the 5 steps from the main deck (covered) off the house down to the Sun-Deck... before the walkway starts.

There is Nothing like this area of beach on Holden Beachā€¦there is about a one-half mile section on Holden Beach where the Beach is wide and plenty of beach (sand) at high tide! Everything East of our stretch of beach has very little sitting area on the beach at high tide. Everything West of this stretch of beach is a VERY long walk from the house to the sand.

House and beach were very nice. Property was clean, relatively updated, and we made use of provided beach chairs and toys. Word of caution: We found a couple of grass burrs stuck in the carpet in various rooms. My daughter and I went outside to play volleyball without shoes on and immediately had multiple burrs stuck in our feet. So just a word of warning to wear shoes at all times.

Holden Beach Vacation

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful beach house. There were many things we loved about the property. The house was exceptionally clean and organized. We loved the privacy that the trees provided from the neighboring houses. A garage to keep the car in was a big plus. The beach is very wide even at high tide and is not crowded at all. A new bbq grill was provided and we used it several times. The property manager, Don, made sure we had everything we needed. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you would need. Looking forward to staying again in the future. Easily a 10 star experience.

Great Getaway

We enjoyed our 2nd stay at Donā€™s perfect Beach house. Loved the spectacular views with long walks on the beach. Saw dolphins the first day and deer at dusk walking in the dunes. Will definitely be back again.

Overall we enjoyed this vacation home. The owner seems to genuinely want guests to have an enjoyable stay and was responsive to questions. The walkway to the ocean is great. We pulled our seats and things in a wagon to the dune where the walkway stopped, unloading/setting up on beach spot from there. And this made packing up was easy at the end of the day. The inside stairs are steep so just something to be aware of if you will have elderly or anyone with mobility challenges on your trip. The outside steps in back are not as steep (not a straight/single run). The outside shower was great!. My teen daughter was especially glad for the Volleyball/badminton net! Our week was basically sandwiched between two hurricanes but got lucky with lovely weather!

Great location right on the beach!

We had a great stay at Don's house! It's located right on the beach, right before the gated section of Holden Island, so there's not much traffic in front of the house. We enjoyed the easy boardwalk to the beach, although the climb up the dunes to get to the boardwalk was difficult, especially pulling a cart. If you have an older family member in your party, you should keep this in mind. The kids loved looking at the rabbits that lived under the boardwalk; the location feels very remote compared to other, more populated areas of the island. The beach in front of the house is fairly narrow, especially at high tide, but we found we actually preferred this -- less distance to lug beach gear. While the house is a little outdated decor-wise, the kitchen is well-stocked and the layout was great for two families. There is a primary suite with king bed and another bedroom with a queen bed upstairs. Keep in mind that the second bedroom shares its bathroom with the upstairs of the house. Downstairs is one bedroom with a queen bed, and another with a queen and a full. The sunroom was also a nice place to get away, or send the kids to watch a movie. Note that the TV in the main living room doesn't have streaming capabilities. It does have a cable box with a good selection. Overall, we greatly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning next summer!

Amazing Ocean View from a Shaded Porch

Our family of multiple age groups truly enjoyed our vacation on Holden Beach. The home was very clean, has an open living-dining-kitchen area which made it seem very spacious. This home has been maintained as well as updated to meet the changing needs of families. The kitchen is well appointed and had all the necessary items we needed. There are 2 large dining tables for families to have meals or game night. The beach has easy access with a beautiful deck for sunning. There was space for a portable kiddie pool and a shaded areas on the porch. There is a garage for one car and at least 3 additional cars. The front stairs offers fewer steps for carrying luggage or groceries. The dunes are beautiful and allow access to the beach. A nearby public access also allows beach access for those with physical limitations. We enjoyed watching fireworks all around us. The description of the home is accurate. The owner was honest and included a description of areas where improvements could be made. We were very satisfied with these accommodations. Maggie

Sun, Sand, and Serenity: Our Perfect Holden Bewch Escape!

We enjoyed our fantastic beach vacation, the house was very clean, well-maintained and contributed to a comfortable and inviting atmosphere! It truly felt like a home away from home, The well-equipped kitchen made it easy to prepare meals, and the dining area provided the perfect view! The oceanfront stay had stunning views of the waves and private access to the beach. Each day was filled with relaxation and fun activities, from sunbathing and swimming to building sandcastles and walking the beach looking for shells! The sunsets were absolutely breathtaking, the nights were peaceful, with the sound of the waves providing a soothing backdrop. Our time here has been rejuvenating, memorable, and filled with joy! Nice, clean beach house! The owner is easy to communicate with, responsive to any questions or concerns. It is an older home and it is well maintained. The kitchen has everything you need if you wish to cook some of your meals. The walkway to the beach is in good condition & maintained also. We love the covered back porch, a great place to relax! When we walked into the house, we knew immediately we were in Love with this House!!! The first thing I noticed was the open floorplan, the beautiful beachy dĆ©cor, all the wonderful natural sunlight from all the windows, the pretty colorsā€¦all so inviting. Then we walked out to the Oceanfront deck my husband and I were in awe. We were both so happy that this would be our vacation!!! As time passed, I noticed more and more how clean the whole house was, which I fully appreciated because I am a clean freak. The housecleaners had done a wonderful job! The furniture and house was in good condition. The refrigerator and appliances seem to be new. The bathrooms are very attractive and updated. The longer we stayed the more we really appreciated all the spaciousness of the living area, dining area, bedrooms, and also the comfortable beds and furniture! This house is an older design on the street side but you wouldnā€™t know it from the inside. And the location is amazing. I canā€™t say enough compliments about the house because we loved it!. The owner was very kind to call us on day 2 to make sure everything was OK. We had no complaints at all. This was our first time in Holden Beach. We only vacation in NC every other year but we WILL definitely be back! My only regret is that we couldnā€™t stay another week.

Quiet location

The house was spacious upstairs. We liked the open floor plan. We did not need to use the two rooms in the basement but they seemed spacious. Kitchen was well equipped compared to others we have stayed in at Holden. This is an older home. There is wear, especially in the primary bath. We ended up using the hall bath instead as it had an exhaust fan. Be aware that this home has very steep and narrow stairs from the lower level to upper. Was a little challenging for me and could be for anyone with a mobility issue, Beach location is great. At this time there is a good sized dune that you have to go down and climb up to access and return from the beach. I would advise bringing your own linens as the owner is very specific about charging fees for any type of staining from makeup, skincare products, etc on the linens provided. We always bring our own so this was not an issue for us. You may want to bring your own dish towels too as there are none provided. Make sure you get the rental agreement the owner requires when you book. VRBO did not send it and I ended up having to review and sign it the night before we were to check in which was not fun. I think that the agreement should be made available to read before you ask to book the property. The property has plenty of room if you have a big family. The volleyball area is nice for kids. Two tables for dining gives lots of room for games and puzzles. A small gas grill is provided which was very useful for us.

Nice boardwalk to the beach

This beach house has an open floor plan and large bedrooms which was great for our large family gathering. The kitchen is well equipped with lots of pots, pans, dishes and utensils. We enjoyed the covered deck area with benches and rocking chairs. Could've used some side tables. The house is showing its age and there are things that need to be updated and or replaced, including furniture pieces with plastic covers that are cracked and sharp which led to cuts and scrapes of hands and legs. The blinds have broken slats and multiple lights don't work even after changing light bulbs. We did enjoy the beach and no crowds!

The property was just the right size and set up for our family - 5 adults and 3 children age 8 - 10. The sun room was great for the kids. The house was well maintained. Adequate but kind of gross

Pros: Spacious, enough bedrooms and plenty of beds, lots of seating in the living room, great seafront deck, awesome beach location with a great sandbar that protected the shore from huge waves, very family friendly stretch of beach. Cons: fluorescent lighting, uncomfortable clear plastic over some upholstery, not cleaned well, tables were gross (dirt under glass on one table top, dirty grout between tiles on another table), wood floor between carpets was filthy when a wet paper towel was taken to it, bathrooms are gross. Light fixtures awful. Could charge a lot more if you just painted it, redid showers, redid lighting, and updated it a bit to make it look nicer and took all the plastic off upholstered furniture.

Annual Family Trip

The property is on the quiet end of the island. The long board walk was very helpful taking our things to the beach. There is more than ample seating for the meals or watching TV. The open face design with the kitchen, dining, and seating allows a family to interact with each other while in the house.

Quiet location

Very nice area. Clean. Fully equipped. Don is an excellent host. Good communication. Lots of beach equipment. Loved the outdoor enclosed shower.
