Lake Marion in South Carolina.

Lake front house, extremely peaceful with an awesome view of beautiful lake Marion. You can see I-95 bridge from our private dock. Perfect for family vacation or a weekend get away. This lake house is tucked away in a private neighborhood for your intimate time together. Enjoy stunning sunset across the lake. Guests are welcome to use the dock for fishing, sunbathing, or to dock their boats. This location is at the big water of lake Marion. Be advised, our home utilizes natural well water. Natural well water has a distinct earthy odor-rest assured it is safe to drink, cook, and bath-in. The dock is shared between two houses.

Property itself has potential. Great location. I was slightly concerned about some of the previous reviews, but we needed a house close to a family funeral. The humidity in the house was unacceptable. I would estimate it was 75-80 percent humidity. The kitchen floor was wet with condensation and the bed linens were moist. Gross. We turned ceiling fans on high and turned the fan on at the thermostat. That helped but the humidity was never normal. There was a NON-working de-humidifier in the house. The owners are certainly aware of the problem. The bed linens were fine but the pillows were flat, cheap, & moist. There were lamps with no light bulbs, and lamps with bulbs sitting on tables that were no where near outlets. The house has potential but is in desperate need of a deep clean. In moving bed side tables to get them closer to outlets, there was dust, dead bugs, and spider webs. Grease coated the top of the fan in the kitchen over the stove. Too many unnecessary nick nacks. it looks like it was a grandparents home and no one has had the heart to remove grandmama's china, crystal, ceramic figurines, etc. The counters had been wiped. The floor had likely been mopped but no one in our family felt comfortable being in the house without shoes. Trash in the yard. Not making this up. I have photos. I still think the house has potential, but I'm not sure that the owners care enough to make an effort.

Didn’t get code to get in until over an hour after check in time. Had to contact VRBO because host didn’t answer by check in time.Inside home was clean. No microwave. No keurig coffee maker which most people use now. The outside of the home/yard was not kept very well. Obviously the grass was cut right before our arrival. No weed eating. There was no instructions about check out. When host was asked they just told us to drop off the trash. No instructions about where to drop that trash off so we brought it home to put in our trash. One television in the home and it was in a bedroom. Would not rent again.Dock was enjoyable.

Do not recommend for a family vacation rental

Upon arrival the entry code did not work. It was late when we arrived and could not reach the owner to gain access to the oroperty and had to end up getting a hotel room until we were able to reach them the following afternoon. The owner stated they were out of the country, so communication was extremely limited. The address listed that we had rented was not the address we had stayed at. The house was not clean, there were previous renters bars if soap and personal car items left in the dirty showers. The grass was about a foot tall on the entire property with weeds all grown up on the patio and house. The gas grill was broke, there was piles of tilt flooring and block stacked across the pirch and yard. AC was only on one side of the house. There was no washer and dryer to upkeep linens, towels, and clothes. There was no microwave. On one of the beds there was two mattresses stacked on top of one another instead of a box spring causing one of our guests to fall through the bed frame. The dock was in very poor shape and unsteady, the lights on the dock did not work, and the boat hoist also did not work. We are regular VRBO renters, but This property is not an ideal rental home and most certainly not ideal for a family to rent for a vacation. Do not recommend.

No hot water

First night I didn’t have any hot water or heat. Propane had ran out and both were ran on gas. All in all it turned into a good weekend. Property owners need to do a better job with the exterior though limb debris and cutting the grass.

Not good for families

Theres only two tv’s at the property and they are in bedrooms. We could only get one to work. The location is close to the 95 freeway so its noisy and the neighborhood is not one I would walk around or let kids play unattended in the driveway. After dark the house is lit up by outdoor lighting not controlled from the property. Indoors was clean but cluttered. Outside the backyard was unkept with construction materials piled around. I booked and paid for four nights but left after the first night. This place probably works for a group of guys who are there for fishing but its was not for me.

8 guys fishing

Just enough room for 8 guys. Nearly everything needed. We couldn't find a cookie sheet to make biscuits so we pulled ours out from our camper. The picture for the property on the outside of the House looks nothing like the picture posted on the outside. No 2 car garage. It's a double wide trailer and trees surrounding it. There are wooden steps which my father in law couldn't do so the other guys had to help him up. Reaching the host was a little frustrating as he left his phone at home. Al in all at least we had a place to sleep If you have a disability or feeble like my father in law there is not an easy way up.

12 Days of Fishing

We rented this property for 12 days. If you're fishing here are some tips. There is deep water, a boat ramp next door, Arbuckles Landing, and there is a gate closed at night. It's $20 to put your boat in/out. On the dock, there is power, lights, pole holders, a bench, board for cleaning fish, and a boat lift which we did not use because our Tritoon was too large. Take bumpers for docking because if a storm blows up, the big water gets rough and your boat will rock against the dock. We also used ropes to tie more than just the two sides to keep it steady when docked. There is a well lit path to the house from the lake, but it is uphill. There is plenty of freezer space since there are 2 full sized refrigerators and one is a side-by-side where we stored many bags of ice. The place was very clean, well stocked, plenty of linens and towels.

Fishing trip weekend

We rented this house due to it was on the lake, We did a long weekend Fri-Mon. Had chartered a boat for Sunday so we just made a long weekend, and brought our boats to fish while we was waiting. Had a great time. Plan on using this property for years to come. Atleast 3-4 times a year! Thank you for letting us use your home. Great memories and had a blast!
