A wonderfully peaceful and comfortable vacation home on the edge of the Mecklenburg Lake District. The six beds in three bedrooms make it suitable for larger families—and thanks to a travel crib and high chair, even one more small child is welcome.
Together with the other half of the duplex, named Levke, you can even increase the occupancy to 12 adults if desired, allowing you to accommodate various group configurations. Otherwise, however, you’ll hardly notice the other half thanks to the well-designed separation—only the large garden and the sauna house are intended for shared use by both halves of the house.
The house is a modern, Scandinavian-style wooden home with an excellent indoor climate. Underfloor heating (powered by geothermal energy/heat pump) keeps the house pleasantly warm on cool days (and even cools it on hot days). And for added coziness, there’s a beautiful fireplace at your disposal.
The central, open, and light-filled living area consists of a spacious seating area and a dining area, which flows seamlessly into the kitchen. The seating area offers comfortable, high-quality seating for everyone and plenty of entertainment options, including an LED TV, soundbar, DVD/Blu-ray player, and a separate Bluetooth hi-fi speaker. Here you’ll also find games, reading material, and a wealth of information about the surrounding area.
In the kitchen, we’ve made sure to provide a complete set of high-quality appliances so you can happily cook for even a larger family. An oven, 4-burner ceramic cooktop, microwave, electric kettle, and filter coffee maker are all provided.
The bathroom features high-quality tiling and includes a walk-in rain shower as well as a bathtub with an optional whirlpool function. There is also a separate restroom in the entryway.
Through the large south-facing window, you can look out onto your private patio and the lush green garden. On the partially covered patio, you’ll find a large garden table and upholstered garden chairs. You can grill in the stone outdoor oven or simply enjoy a cozy campfire.
From here, you can step out into the spacious, securely fenced-in garden. Near the house, you can sit or lie down comfortably, while the lower area is particularly well-suited for play—for example, with the provided children’s toys and soccer goals, or on the jungle gym. The sauna house also offers additional seating. And, of course, a sauna for your exclusive use. (As mentioned earlier, the sauna and garden may also be available to guests staying in the other half of the vacation home.)
With 72 square meters, there is plenty of living space for everyone, and right next to the house on the street side, there are two spacious parking spaces (one per half of the house). In the lockable courtyard, you can store bicycles or other equipment safely, with some areas covered.
The vacation home is situated in a quiet location on the outskirts of the village and offers direct access to the regional network of hiking and biking trails. In addition, the Bärenpfad trail, along which the house is located, leads to the eponymous “Bärenwald” (Bear Forest) in Müritz, which provides a new home for rescued brown bears and is a rewarding, nationally renowned destination—especially for families.
In the old village center, you’ll still find the charming medieval church and the parsonage. A five-minute walk takes you to Stuerschen Lake, a restored wetland area that is highly prized by both native and migratory bird species. The path continues to the hidden, historic castle ruins, featuring a mysteriously dilapidated yet still recognizable main tower.
Plau am See is just under 13 km away and offers all basic amenities as well as some nice restaurants and cafés; Lake Plau is also accessible from here. The nearest swimming spot is at the southern end of Lake Plau (Stuer Bad), a 2.7 km walk—about half an hour—or a five-minute drive.
Within a wider radius, the Müritz region—with its main town, Waren—and the entire Mecklenburg Lake District are ideal for day trips. For trips toward the Baltic Sea, Highway 19 provides excellent access. In short, there’s endless potential for excursions into the countryside and out into the open.
