"We were celebrating my wife’s 70th birthday, and wanted comfortable and special accommodation for family members and friends. We also wanted to be able to enjoy a grand meal together for up to 14 of us. Compton House was perfect for us - a very unusual and lovely property. "Lovely, quirky little cottage in a quiet village. Near enough to Frome to have everything available that you may need, but far enough away to feel like you are away from the crowds. The cottage has lots of features and would be no good for anyone who struggles with staircases and is over 6 feet tall but there were most things that you need for a comfortable stay. We even had a kingfisher land on the patio fence a couple of times. All in all we would recommend this place."

"The listing photos really do not do Lesley’s house justice. The house is really lovely and much larger than anticipated. It is spotlessly clean and fully equipped with everything one could need, from books, to games and maps and magazines. "The location is perfect, near to town/amenities but also very quiet with a stunning, secluded courtyard. The property itself is gorgeous, quirky and very well equipped with everything you need and more. Even my teenage boys, who generally aren't interested in anything, loved walking in and around the property finding so much of interest."

"We really enjoyed our short stay at the Carthouse. It's a lovely property in Axbridge, with Cheddar Gorge within easy reach. Communication with Val was excellent and also waited on the side of the road to show us the entrance to the side road. The Carthouse was spotlessly clean and Val had left several thoughtful items to get us started including bread, milk, wine and cider! Thank you Val, it was much appreciated. We'd have no hesitation in recommending this lovely property."

"Terrible property - due to stay here for 5 nights but posed such a health risk that we left immediately and checked in elsewhere at great expense. Sacks of rubbish left, outdoor dining area unusable, dangerous shower, bedroom fans covered in thick dust and mould. Is not as described - is a mid terraced property, not semi-detached as the pictures suggest. Neighbours garden full of trade waste and arguing with each other so would have been unpleasant to sit outside. Undesirable area. Do not stay...

"We stayed for two nights for our annual visit to Longleat, which is only about 15 minutes drive away The house was in perfect condition and very old and rickety yet full of high-quality modern appliances It was a very relaxing and enjoyable short stay. I would recommend it to anybody."
