The property was not clean, and communication from the host was extremely poor. The host did not respond until I requested that the reservation be canceled. The following day, he informed me that he had apparently provided me with the key to the wrong cottage, which had not been cleaned or serviced.
The cottage I had actually reserved did not have the key where the host's instructions indicated it would be. However, the cottage next door did have a key hidden under the garbage can exactly as described in his text message, so I reasonably assumed that was the correct unit.
When I opened the door, it was immediately obvious that the cottage had not been cleaned. The bed sheets were piled on the floor, bathroom towels were scattered on the restroom floor, and dog hair was everywhere—especially on the futon couch. The overall condition of the property was unacceptable.
To make matters worse, cell service was very spotty, and there was virtually no reliable internet access. The nearest Wi-Fi connection was approximately 30 miles down the mountain.
This experience was extremely disappointing. I have still not received the refund that the host promised. Between the lack of communication, unclean conditions, and unresolved refund issue, I cannot recommend staying at this property. Poor service and poorly maintained accommodations.
I unfortunately, had to get accommodation down to Truckee and spent mor money at a Marriott hotel.
