Acadia Yurts offers visitors the most unique way to stay on Mount Desert Island. Seven fun, eco-friendly Yurts and two Tiny Houses will bring you as close to nature as camping, with all the amenities of home. Located on 5 acres of lovely wooded land, surrounded by Acadia National Park property, Acadia Yurts offer a peaceful retreat for your group (up to 4 guests per 24' Yurt, 6 guests for the 30' Yurt or 2 guests per Tiny House). Acadia Yurts is also ideal for large groups traveling with accommodations for up to 34 people on 1 site.

In addition to yurt or tiny house living, the Wellness Center at Acadia Yurts offers on-site yoga, an infrared sauna and a flotation tank, all available for extra charge. Prices available upon request.

A yurt is a tent-like circular fabric structure with a wood lattice frame that originated among the nomadic tribes in Asia. These permanent, colorful structures have thick canvas exterior walls that include reflective insulation and a high efficiency heat pump/AC unit so you can be comfortable during any season. Yurts are quickly becoming a new vacation experience that vacationers are enjoying throughout the US from cliff side views in California to ski lodges in Colorado. This is a memorable place to stay while enjoying the beauty of Acadia!

Great Yurt in the midst of the trees

We stayed just over a week and really enjoyed all of it. The facility and property in general weee great; our hosts made everything easy and prepared the Yurt beautifully. We had not stayed in one before, but were very pleasantly surprised. They even provided eye covers and earplugs if you wanted to use them. I did not use them, but I thought it evidence of the attention to detail. You should try it!

Heaven on the quiet side

My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer!The grounds were lovely. The yurt was gorgeous, fully stocked and so cozy on even the rainiest of nights. The community room with laundry and games to share was a great added bonus. We didnt have time to use the wellness center, but look foward to returning and trying out the sauna. We much preferred being on this side of MDI. Quiet and secluded, but close enough to everything. Thank you for making our visit and our anniversary so special.

Great home away from home!

The yurt was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for cooking meals. The laundry shed had an abundance of games and books and other extras to check out and share (like camp chairs to view the sunrise on Cadillac Mtn.) The location was close enough to other restaurants, shops, etc. but remote enough to be away from traffic. Loved it!

Best Family Vaca!

Acadia Yurts is just what we needed to reset and relax before the business of the school year begins! This simple way of living in the most quaint town in Maine with water and mountains 5 minutes away had everything we needed. Karen and Aaron have quite the operation going and have inspired us to downsize in our own home and enjoy the little things more! The yurt was larger than expected and had all the amenities we could ask for, even beach towels! I cannot say enough amazing things about this magical spot in the woods. We will be back and am already recommending to friends! Thank you for a wonderful vacation!

Cozy glamping

We enjoyed the yurt and its location a great deal. Karen greeted us in person, and Aaron and Karen take good care of the properties and guests. The yurt has all the necessities and the decor is simple and elegant; everything was comfortable and convenient. Being in the woods in a cabin-like yurt fit right into the spirit of our hiking vacation. The location was perfect for us. We liked staying in Southwest Harbor with its small downtown. It had a handful of wonderful local restaurants and shops, away from the heavily commercialized Bar Harbor area. Conveniently, there was a grocery store just over 5 min away, and several feet outside of the yurts, you step onto roads going through the woods of Acadia Park. I enjoyed going on morning runs there a few times. Some of the hikes we went on were only a few minutesā€™ drive from the yurts. We would go back in a heartbeat to the area and to Acadia Yurts.

Yes for Yurt

We were pleasantly surprised at how wonderful out yurt and the property were. Anything we needed was there. Comfortable beds and bedding, hot water and good water pressure, a community fire pit, chairs and picnic tables for morning coffee, games and cards- it was a perfect way to be comfortable in nature. We will stay again the next time we visit Maine!

We loved our stay at Acadia Yurts! It was the most ideal spot for all the places we wanted to visit. A easy drive to Acadia and Bar Harbor and also very close to the quieter side of Acadia. The other reviews are true- the shower is amazing after a long day out hiking! We are already trying to get family to go and stay. Highly recommend just booking it!

Great getaway spot in close proximity to Acadia NP!

The Dorr Mountain yurt was the perfect getaway spot that was close to Acadia National Park. The yurt was well stocked with easy access to additional items such as onsite laundry. The yurt was clean and comfortable for our family of four. Communication from the owner was great.

A yurt vacation is a bucket list item and if youā€™re going to do it, this is the place. Our hosts were the best and literally were available for anything we needed, even when we requested last minute flashlights so we could hike Cadillac Mountain in the dark to arrive a sunrise (another bucket list item and must do). The location was ideal for both enjoying Acadia and all it has to offer as well as proximity to all 3 harbors. Every recommendation they had for food and activities was spot on. Ohā€¦and eat at Bealā€™sā€¦best seafood on MDI. Thanks for a vacation to remember and weā€™ll definitely be back.

Everything we needed & more!

Aaron & Karen are awesome and know how to ensure guests are relaxed, comfortable, and taken care of! The yurt was a fantastic way to be "comfortably" close to nature, easy access to EVERYTHING Acadia offers, and all the little considerations were evident. The property is wonderful, the water pressure from every faucet/shower was AMAZING, and even the sound machine to ensure the birds didn't wake us too early was a lovely and useful surprise! HIGHLY RECOMMEND to any family traveling to the area that wants to "camp" without camping!
