Excellent stay from start to finish. HIdden Elm is a beautifully restored and expanded 1909 residence. As another reviewer noted, the furnishings and appointments are really amazing--truly like a real, cherished home rather than an Ikea-slick pure money rental. There is original, local artwork on every wall, a restaurant-quality gas range in the kitchen, and a master bedroom with a massive antique sleigh bed and a shower big enough to have a party in. Four separate outdoor decks, a top-end gas grill, and ample parking. Thoughtful touches abound, like a $25 gift certificate to a local gourmet shop, a pound of great coffee awaiting, and towels like a luxury hotel's. We were a family of three couples and a toddler, and Hidden Elm is big enough for all to come together, and for each to find separate space and peace as well. Though quiet and private, the house is also only 3 minutes' walk from downtown Southwest Harbor (don't miss the Little Notch Bakery) with its restaurants, shops, library, ice cream parlors, and more. Proximity to Acadia National Park made hiking, biking, swimming, fishing and climbing easy. Michael and Libby proved to be attentive, gracious, friendly hosts. We will return for sure.
